Yeah, 99% sure mine is broken. I can get into safe mode just fine and then reset it to default settings, etc. but after that it just keeps crashing and shutting off.

I've always had a sub account as my account for the duration of my ps4 life, (an oversight when i first made the account) but its never been a problem.

But i cant share vids/pics on my account.

And yes I've allowed it on the master but is still says "you cant do this (sub account", am i just waiting for an update to let it work? Or does anyone have a solution.

Try reseating the HDMI cable and make sure it is connected snuggly and securely. if not, remove the HDMI cable and look for a piece of metal obstructing the pins.

Ok, I reseated the cable and it seems like the picture is stable. Hopefully it stays this way...

I lost 2 early versions of the PS3; a fat and the 80 gig. Each lasted about 3 - 4 years. I have 3 kids, so they got a lot of use, and then just died. TLOU just recently killed the 80 gig. It couldn't handle the awesome.

But to lose it on launch day.... man that sucks.

If it is a widespread issue, Sony better provide some world-class customer service or it could get ugly fast. It just blows my mind how quickly we're all so saturated in social media and electronic interactions. I mean look at you. You're just staring at this screen. The person next to you probably has a screen in their face or in their hands. Word gets around fast. Idiots get thousands of viewers. Everything is amplified and immediate.

It's a brave new world.

Hopefully the issues are small, and your resolution swift.

Mine's been rockin' for about 6 hours straight with no issues. PSN, updates, patches, remote play, all very smooth. It did get louder than I expected when playing Killzone.

Not really tons there...that link has 22 posts and most are about amazon refund policies.

I wanted to have a thread where people could report issues and get help with problems...not argue over failure rates and such. Nobody knows the latter so let's just try and see what we can find out.

Could you possibly create a poll topic asking if users are having issues? Would be interesting to see the no versus yes ratio.

I hope Sony gives all the users that have bricked PS3's something extra. A free voucher for Infamous Second son would be okay with me >_<.

Is the fan running? Mine wasn't and it was causing mine to overheat.

I want to give it a little more time. People are still getting theirs and the data will be more valuable if we give it some time.

Wanna try removing the hard drive? lol

I keep getting "an error has occurred" when I try to update my new 1TB HDD to v1.5.

What gives? Do I have to format it first? How would I go about doing that?

It's got to be FAT32. You can hook it into any comp.

Just hooked mine up and the disc drive keeps trying to eject every 5 seconds even when nothing is inside. I can't put any disc in...it will just spit it back out.

Anyone having this issue?

Needs to be formated to fat32 have a laptop you can put it in? Or sata cables and a computer?

A valid point. I didn't think of that, actually.

and yes, I second the HD suggestion. It isn't going to void your warranty.

are you trying to play knack?

(this is a new one. try cleaning the eject button and make sure it isn't near anything giving off heat...it's thermal. is there an emergency eject button somewhere too?)

Good one!
I'll check. I'm updating the firmware to see if that fixes the issue. Next I'll clean off the buttons with a microfiber cloth.

For the record, 3 friends have managed to fix PS4s by unplugging everything out of it and shutting it off for 5 minutes.

Their PS4s have worked flawlessly since. Try disconnecting everything for at least 5 minutes. Then reconnect and give it a try. I don't know why this worked for them, but it did.

I recommend tossing this in OP. It has worked for 3 people. Real deal so far. I don't think it's a simple case of luck.

Negative on both updating firmware and cleaning off the buttons.

Everything was unplugged for about an hour for me. Still nothing.

Gonna give this a try too, though I'm not hopeful.

so having been dealing with just trying to get my ps4 from amazon i havent been paying attention to whats been going on. Any indication of a sizable issue with hardware or does it seem like a low failure amount? Anyone particular issue that keeps popping up?

Same.

I've had mine unplugged for hours at a time. Ain't no fixing the BLOD.

Put in The World's End to start reviewing it... signal dies on the PS4. Have to restart the machine to get back to the menu.

Tried three times with the same result.

Pulsing blue light with no video seems the most common.

Ok, if any one has the issue of the disc drive constantly ejecting, hit the top of it, turn it vertical and then put a disc in. Works like a charm for me now.

Just wanted to add that my broken unit - pulsing blue light, won't go into safe mode - was also labeled as made in Hongfujin Yantai China in September 2013.

It was a launch edition from Amazon

That just wouldn't work. What do you think would happen if there was a poll asking "Are you having PS4 issues?" The numbers would get skewed quickly, very quickly. Just look at any of the threads of all the people saying this is RROD 2, or its worse than that. People would spam that poll like no tomorrow .
