I said it because I found it hard.

Haven't played it in years, mind you.

Uh huh. I see. Fascinating.

Well don't find it very hard. It's the hardest of the original games, but I don't believe it's a ruthless game. Far from it. It's pretty forgiving if you ask me. Going for 100% is hard, but main completion is a pretty average difficulty I think. It's not even the hardest Crash game. Twinsanity, which is a game I'd hardly call brutal, is much harder than Crash 1.

Still, it's better than letting someone else to make it.

Crash been dead to most as things stand
that is why you don't see more crash games being made. people will not buy it, there is no money to be made (I'm assuming the trend of bad crash games will continue)

so no, nobody else is exactly willing to pay to make it
and honestly I don't think a new crash game will make an impact on the market unless Sony get's it back (because the news of Sony getting it back in itself will be HUGE news and a big boost in marketing)

I have the PAL version. Always have. It's not particularly hard.

Yeah, bad wording on my part. It's just a tiny bit more of a challenge.

Andy Gavin said:
As requests came in from Europe to do peculiar and territory specific things like “make the game harder because European gamers like a challenge” (after Crash 1 we refused to acknowledge this “truism”) I modified the tools to allow territory specific overrides in the files that controlled the game data. For example, CONTINUE_POINT_64_32 in the jungle level, “hide in europe.” While I’m not sure the frustrated Euro gamer appreciated it, the system did make serving the producer’s requests easier.

Taken from Andy Gavin's blog, which also contains the making of, which is worth reading through.

Despite that though the PAL version still retained that thing where the game would get easier if you died too much. I noticed it recently when a younger cousin was playing. I thought "Hold on a sec, there's an ENEMY MISSING!".

I think this is a fair statement. If Activision just get one of their studios to make a new Crash game I don't think many people will really care. Even if they were able to make a good game, it wouldn't really capture the imaginations or the hearts of people. There would be no hype for it and the fact it's a good game would just be a pleasant surprise but ultimately it would be forgotten.

However if Sony get their hands on the franchise? Super massive hype levels and big sales if they put out a quality product and market it right. Sony making a new Crash game is the only way the series becomes big again.

I agree.

It's a shame I don't see it happening though. Even if Activision would agree to sell it... and I don't know that they ever would... they know it holds far more value to Sony than anyone else.

So they'd nickle and dime for sure. And I can't really think of many instances where an IP was sold without there being financial problems involved. And sadly, Activision isn't there.

I don't necessarily think Activision would sell it, but I don't think it's out of the question for Activision to allow Sony to fund and develop a PS exclusive Crash game. Allow Sony to make the game and Activision just rake in the profits. It's possible they could come to some sort of deal like that.

Below is only a ''Study'' Daxter so probably more at something they wouldn't use. Look at the first screenshot and you can clearly tell he's the same old looking but with better graphics. THIS NEEDS TO HAPPEN.

so we get a great crash game until Activision gets too greedy for Sony liking then we end up back in the same situation we are in now?
no thanks

either Sony acquiring the full rights to the IP or nothing happens at all for me.

Activision simply milks franchises. Once upon a time it was: "All they do is pump out yearly Guitar Hero and Tony Hawk". They milk their franchises to death but always have something to replace it with. Maybe five years from now it'll be "Why yearly installments of Destiny and Crash Bandicoot all the time?"

What's in it for Sony?

It's not like they need the Crash IP to make the PS4 successful.

Just read this on Wikipedia....

Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex was originally intended to be designed by Mark Cerny (who designed all the games in the series thus far) and published by Sony Computer Entertainment.[21] On September 21, 2000, Universal Interactive Studios and Konami announced that they had entered an agreement that would enable Konami to publish a Crash Bandicoot game for next-generation game systems, with Universal Interactive handling the production of the games. The agreement served to break the Crash Bandicoot franchise's exclusivity to Sony-produced consoles and effectively made Crash Bandicoot a mascot character for Universal rather than Sony.[
After Universal fell out with Cerny and Sony, Traveller's Tales was forced to alter the game from a free-roaming title to a standard Crash title. Traveller's Tales had to begin development of the game from scratch and were given only twelve months to complete the game

Why would they delete it

Professionally it could be just to stop any confusion that could arise for uninformed gamers that could think Crash Bandicoot is on PlayStation again, which it isn't
yet (I hope)
and also could be just part of a viral marketing that Sony is doing for hyping us all up for an impending announcement at VGx perhaps.

I decided to make some Crash 3 gifs:

Everything after the ND games just didn't have the same magic. See Wrath of Cortex, which basically tried to copy the first 3 games:

FQ7MHln.gif

The gameplay's not nearly as tight or sharp. Even the graphics don't look as good and it was one generation ahead. (these are all platinum runs by the same player, btw)

Some newb intern probably posted that to Facebook to be a troll or whatever and got in shit for it hence why it is deleted, I wouldn't read too much into it.

WHOA... nostalgia. Anyway to play Crash 3 without a PS1?
