It's all so arbitrary. I've completely lost interest in even trying to argue with the '60 fps or no buy' group. Whatever floats their boat! (shrugs)
This is how much 60fps costs:
I'll take 30fps and awesome lighting, thanks.
Evert Forza 5 crowd shot I see that bald guy. It's like Where's Baldo.

It's just an ad, it forms a "4".Is DriveClub set in the future???...whats with that stone pillar building and the object floating to the left of it???
And you don't even notice them while racing.

Apart from the drawing distance, you just proved his point. The game is colourful, but you can easily point out the reasons how 60fps was achieved. Environmental detail is at its minimum, there's almost nothing on the roads or near them apart from your car and the geometric complexity is, well, non-existant. Houses are boxes, hills/mountains/cliffs are very edgy and have just completely awful textures. The car looks good and the sunny weather & shiny water makes it look not completely horrible, but that's not a technically impressive game in any way.Something tells me you never played these games or your memory is foggy. Especially the drawing distance on Outrun... dude!
Is this kind of drawing distance a joke to you?
Car models are nice, the way the light bounces off.
Next gen Forza Horizon style.
That smoke trail from the left-hand exhaust pipe looks awful! What on earth were they thinking?
Preorder cancelled.
The 60 fps or no buy group were never going to buy it to begin with; Bunch of concern trolls. if the game was 60 fps there would be something else that would be a barrier to entry. They'd probably say something like, its too much of an arcade racer and not a Sim.

Not even when you slow down for a corner?
You could forgive it if the graphics were amazing....but.......they aren't.
Haha.
No.
I'd be surprised if Driveclub doesn't have one or the other ugly spot as well. Not even when you slow down for a corner?

Is that a glitch?
I can think of several. Especially PGR4 and Forza Horizon were pretty great and provided an awesome sense of speed. I'd take their visual fidelity over Forza's (main series) 60 fps any day. Driveclub is clearly developed in the vein of those games.I can't think of a single 30 FPS racer that was worth playing except for the new Driver. It was worth it for the story. Seriously though racers need to be 60 FPS. I want to feel like I'm actually racing, not just take a slow stroll through the park.

Saying that Forza 5 graphics suck because of this screen is a bit silly.

Things could get quite silly actually. You can pick apart any game, including DriveClub.
So much hate for Forza 5, just because it's on the competing console....shame because the game is awesome and just missed 9's because of the amount of cars compared to the last game, but that's expected when every single car is built from the ground up and can be explored in autovista.
Here's a Gem, and actually on topic

qa_engineer is right, though.
Very old alpha build...
So clearly a software limitation and not a hardware issue, I think we all agree. The problem is when the shoe is on the other foot, Forza doesn't get the same defense, you know, being a launch title and not given the extra time that DC is getting.
With comments like: "Clearly not targeting the highest end hardware" only suggests they can't do better than F5, so irritating, especially since PS4 is not targeting the highest end either.
Anyway, the point was that you can pick apart any game, any footage, any video. Final or not, that footage is 2013 footage running on PS4 hardware, and if the game had to make launch, it wouldn't have the extra time for improvements, so by the time DC launches, it would probably make more sense to compare to Forza Horizon, if they do release that in 2014.

At least give us a demo track...something!!

I hate this argument. There's no proof one has had more development time than the other. You act like both started development on the same day. It's quite possible that even with the delay, Forza was in development for a longer period of time. We'll never know, so it's pointless to debate that aspect. So clearly a software limitation and not a hardware issue, I think we all agree. Strange that every fucker & his dog noticed them in GT5
