Our supply chain analyst thinks Sony are shipping up to 100k per day globally by air and sea. He said that Sony will struggle for stock in February after the Chinese new year as their stockpiles will have been exhausted by air freighted units, but also that they probably don't care about that because the period after January is not so important anyway.

Basically he thinks Sony are just bringing forwards all of January's shipment volume (which would leave about now by boat) to get units on shelves before Xmas. So, err, yes. He said 300k per week should arrive globally by regular sea based shipments in December (set off early November) and a further 300k per week by air that sets off on a daily basis from Shenzhen cargo airport. He noted that shipping volume (and bulk pricing) has dipped on routes with companies regularly used by Sony, which he said is indicative of Sony air freighting stock.

Until Jan 6th is what he estimates, then they will trickle air shipments and let the regular sea based shipments catch up over about a month.

The point is that it's ribbing, not bias. Every company receives it where it's deserved. And to be totally honest, it was the same position reversed with the PS3 fucked up launch. Microsoft did a lot of damage to our perception of them, speaking as industry/gaming fans - and they are going to get ribbing for stupid PR like "we're the fastest selling in November".

EDIT: That wasn't entirely clear, what I am saying is I think people ARE specifically sensitive to ribbing because you don't feel the XB1 is being given a chance. And I am just explaining not everyone here is willing to overlook the errors that were made in the leadup to it's launch. They will be scrutinised more thoroughly on shit like that.

That actually strikes me as being kind of slow considering that millions of people use Amazon. That's roughly 445 consoles per minute, or about 7 every second. In comparison, it's not unprecedented for artists to sell out Madison Square Garden (18,200 seats) within a minute or two.

Of course, the PS4 is selling very well, I'm just surprised it took 27 minutes to move 12,000 units rather than 4 or 5.

Right after E3, Amazon processed 1000s PS4 orders PER SECOND
