Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS Thread 3: Ridley's Believe It or Not!

IT'S AS THOUGH ROSALINA IS JACKIE CHAN AND LUMA IS CHRIS TUCKER
Based on the effects, the luma has a bit more punch to it.
I once assembled a roster with more than 100 newcomers... but I'm still only going one out of four (I didn't guess Villager, Wii Fit Trainer or Rosalina).Still leading the prediction thread.
Looking at these two GIFs, it seems like the Luma does whatever attack you do, but the direction may vary?
Also, it is obviously weaker than Rosalina.
My theory is that it corrects the way it's facing, not sure about distance though.

I dunno, I could definitely see Ghirahim at least making it in. I kinda thought he would be in the next Smash ever since Skyward Sword came out.

Some stuff I noticed via trailer:
-Remember when I pointed out how the Garden of Hope seemed to "transit" in areas in-between various shots? During that bit where Rosalina spikes Link, the hanging aluminum can thing is below next to the broken bowl seen in the Sonic video. I'm guessing this will just be a big stage.
-The Villager copies Balloon Fighter's animation when his balloons pop (they're also blue now).
-Pretty sure this has been pointed out already, but the Luma can save Rosalina from grabs.
Rosalina wasn't a character I initially wanted, but the trailer has quickly warmed me up to her. The Luma is such a fascinating mechanic! I just wish they hadn't pulled the fake-out with the Kirby Air Ride music. :'(

I don't think the 2 compare. Ice Climbers are doing the exactly same moves (even though there's some tiny differences in their effects iirc). Rosalina and Luma take that mechanic, but change it up so that the Luma does different moves than Rosalina, and it also looks like Rosalina actually is able to position it as well.
Basically, I think Rosalina is going to be somewhere in between Olimar and ICs.
It's certainly possible, but I don't think he will make an appearance, solely based on the fact that he's not in Between Worlds. He might be an AT or a boss or something, though.
I don't think that was ever a serious problem. I mean, sure Sakurai mentioned it was an issue, but they were never going to release a Smash Bros. that didn't have Ice Climbers in it.

Rosalina doesn't have a moveset pic yet. Other characters have pics that are related to their special moves.
Villager has B (pocket item), Down B (plant sapling), Side B (lloid rocket), and Up B (balloon)
WFT has Side B (soccer ball head smash) and Up B (hoola hoops) so far.

What are you on about, exactly? There are 5 Mario characters so far, it's doubtful there will be any more and 4 of those were highly expected and important to their history. Rosalina is a great addition.

Nintendo is DARING to put in a fifth character of the game series that is not only one of the main reasons they are now where they are, but also the biggest selling video game franchise of all time?! And it happens to be a pretty damn popular character from their recently critically well-received Galaxy games too boot? Those fucking sellouts.

It only seems that way because Sakurai's revealed most of the Mario characters early. Possibly because they were all in Rosa's trailer anyway, I dunno.

Even with Rosalina, there's three times as many non-Mario characters. We've got 5 of those, as opposed to 15 (14 if you count DK as part of the Mario franchise). And that's just those of the currently revealed ones. It's VERY unlikely we'll get any more Mario franchise characters beyond those 5/6, except for Yoshi and Wario returning, but those also represent their own franchises, as well. And I'm deliberately counting out Diddy because he's never been in any Mario game except for like 2 Mario Karts and 1 or 2 of the sports spin-offs.

....You know melee had 5 mario characters too right? Relax the more the merrier...heck pokemon in brawl technically had the more playable reps with 6 pokemon excluding the extended mario characters.

She is celebrating Mario Galaxy, which is like the more Nintendo History than any other 3D mario

Hmm I really don't like Rosalina as a new character, she should've been relegated to an Assist Trophy imo. Nintendo should revive some characters from their old franchises like Takamaru or Mach Rider. Shulk should've been announced a long time ago too.

Well yeah, Luma is different from Rosalina, but it still appears to act according to your inputs as shown in those gifs. The moves look different and are probably harder to hit because of Luma's tiny size, though.
She's definitely not Ice Climbers, but I think they are comparisons to be made. The positioning of Luma was really cool and allows for so many possibilities!
I wonder how strong Luma will be, and will there be a Popo Ice Climbers situation if Rosalina loses a stock (aka, Luma will disappear)?
Shulk will be announced at e3 right after they show the new X trailer with a release date.

Forgetting about the Mario rep thing for a moment, Rosalina looks like she has a totally unique gameplay style, more than worthy of inclusion.
I'd honestly be surprised if Takamaru wasn't this game's retro rep. Mach Rider is my personal hope for newcomer too.

Rosalina's last screenshot is a 3DS one. It's not much, but it's acknowledgement at least. It's obvious (and, in my opinion, very much a good thing) that they're focusing on the Wii U version over the 3DS version. I would be very much all right with the Wii U version coming out 2014 and then the 3DS version being polished and releasing a year later or so. It'd be like two Smash Bros. for the price of one!
I really wish Sakurai would do a little moveset demonstration for Rosalina like he did for the Wii Fit Trainer and Villager. I really want to know how that Luma works! It's obviously very different from Olimar or Ice Climbers...
Also, did anyone else notice that it's definitely confirmed that Villager's tree isn't automatically cut down after being planted?
