Ok who the hell is Captain Syrup and why does she seem to a have fanbase? What is she to wario? I dont see the appeal to her. Serious question.

She's a sassy villainess (?) in at least one Wario sidescroller. What's not to like about lady pirate captains!

As I said in the other thread, she was one of my top 4 on my wishlist to be playable. But I guess an AT is the next best thing! Here's to Smash 5!

his final smash was fusing with Dimentio (although that would make me sad cause I want Dimentio as a character, although it isn't likely) and during his transformation he just yelled GREEEEEEEEN
she's the boss of the pirates that Wario messes up in Wario Land 1 and 2 and then she helps him in Shake It.
i'm guessing she's considered more important because she was in mainline Wario games and the WarioWare folks are from a spinoff.

If Commanding Officers from Advance Wars were to be characters in Smash, I could imagine 3 different play styles for them
1.) Have the Commanding Officer pilot a tank or a mecha much like Tron-Bonne in Marvel Vs. Capcom and derive a moveset like that.
2.) Have them function like Olimar and his Pikmin where the infantry are his smash and aerial moves. He could summon multiple types of infantry and they can provide him different moves for different situations.
3.) Have them be a sole character and their play-style is utility based like Snake. Lets say if Ryo/Andy were to be there character, he'd use his wrench as his main weapon and have explosives and what not be his smash and special. If you've played Advance Wars, a lot of their special abilities could work as moves like Power Wrench, Airlift, and Victory March.
What do you guys think and who do you think would work if Advance Wars was brought in as a character? I personally want Andy and Sami to be AW reps.

Also it depends on what you mean by spin off, since the wario ware games seem to be the majority of wario content these days. Its like SMT and Persona you can go all fancy say that Persona is a spin off, and is less important. More people give a shit about persona doe, so doesn't really matter which is which anymore.
She doesn't really out side of shake it and places like neogaf. Relatively forgotten wario character.
She is rouge the pirate. That is her stick.

Sorry fellas, but there is only other one Wario character that deserves to be playable, and that ain't Captain Syrup or Ashley.
(Though still very, very doubtful.)

I was secretly hoping for Dr. Mario / Dr. Luigi alts myself, but considering the only at revealed so far is not even a costume -- and that it's been cryptic to say the least, I suppose there's a chance he wants to show alternative colour/costumes/characters at another point.

Maybe have a playstyle where they set tiny "buildings" which spawn units to attack. It would definitely be bizarre though.

Yeah she was my main in TvC, also love using Tron too.
I wanted Sami in Brawl, but now I would be happy with any AW rep, even from Days of Ruin.
He's actually pretty popular.

For some reason, I feel that Wario will be a secret character in Smash For. Although it's also possible there will be no(t many) secret characters this time around, in which case we should wait until Nintendo releases a new Wario Ware/Land. 😪
She's not that spectacular, but she's got a good design and managed to out-Wario Wario a couple times, so she's memorable, and props up both the villain and female representation on the roster.
That said Smash barely acknowledges that Wario Land exists and she didn't even merit a sticker in Brawl, so throwing her name out there is one of those super long shot pipe dreams that no one realistically expects.
So apparently there was a supposed leak a while back that had Ashley as an assist trophy. I've gone through it, and while there are some things that I don't like, there is nothing that seems especially unbelievable. Except it has fucking K. Rool, which is craziness.

That's actually one of the more plausible rumors I've read. No way pacman is the final reveal though, that would be idiotic

Having Chrom while having Ike just seems like overdoing it on heavy sword people from FE. Anna pls. It's also funny that adding Takamaru, believing that the "new" Zelda character is Impa, and getting over the improbability that is Mike Jones having a spot in this roster makes that particular rumor almost 1:1 with my most recent conservative roster guess:
