no - you'd just leave the mic open so the PS4 can listen for commands, but not pass any of it on to the game so other people don't hear you.

edit: ah - if a game itself has commands, you need pass the audio to the game.. in that case you'd need some system to tell the games not to pass that out to players - so more like updating the TRC or something, that is more complex..

Yeah I'm kinda with you in your thinking, have it recognise commands, but not broadcast them over the interwebs while playing online. That's what I was hoping would come along, but then again even if it was working like that Tomb Raider still sucks for VC as my camera is beside my speaker bar and as such pauses itself constantly.

Sure, it's not ideal, but it's the same sort of situation the Xbox One has with Kinect (although that one is a better mic with better voice recognition). You can always make a 1-man PSN party and put the voice to go in there. That removes any ambient noise of yours from leaking into whatever game you're playing while keeping voice commands as an option for you.

That said, the OS level mute mic option is technically just the same as some games implementing an "enable voice chat" option, which some do. I just get the sense some people think there's a difference between voice commands and chat on a technical level, which would be magic.

I'm fairly sure you can already remove the game. Just go to your storage management and delete it. Re-download from store if needed again.

Just checked, playroom cant be deleted.

There needs to be an option to hide this shit (along with music unlimited) But again as I said earlier, that along with the ability to disable the fucking light bar will come when they've made enough money from selling the pos camera.

A legacy from when the camera was a pack-in in every box most likely. It's an "OS feature" like Music Unlimited is, not classed as an addon game/app as such (yet).
At least it goes all the way to the right eventually from non-use (until there's an update!).

Not a clue to be honest, it seems to do it overnight for me. There is a menu item in the settings menu "System Software Update" that lets you check manually if need be.

And if anyone is having issues getting audio through their headset, you need to hold the PS button down and go to Adjust Devices and allow all audio to the headset.

I was wondering this, too, went to the PlayStation Store (EU) and it's not yet listed. I hope it is today, I've been looking forward to Outlast for quite a while.

Also, I was a bit confused and panicked too because in the PlayStation Plus category, it listed the available options for subscriptions in the games subcategory which it's not done since before I upgraded to PS+ so, me being the tool I am, I automatically assumed for some reason my subscription had been wiped. Is this there for everyone?

Why would that be magic? I just need an ability to link input (camera mic, ds4 mic) to ouput (ps4 voice commands, ps4 voice chat, game voice chat) so i could do the following:

cam mic input -> ps4 voice command
ds4 mic input -> ps4 voice command, ps4 voice chat and game voice chat.

Just like android lets the user choose wich app has access to wich system resources, no magic. just a well designed system.

With multiple mics, sure. But what I was talking about was the situation where the guy wanted to use his PS4 camera mic for voice comms but not have it send his voice to the game.

Very disappointing update, I know they are pushing the whole "Back to games" mantra but at least give us DLNA support, it's ridiculous that you purchase a new console and it loses so many features compared to their last system, essentially it's a downgrade.

This FW seems very planned, like they had planned the new headset, and kept the udate untill the new headset was ready. That way people might have sold their old sets and where ready to buy the new Gold one..

I don't believe that's the case. They're suppose to provide soundtracks on PSN Store but cannot because PS4 doesn't support mp3. I think that'll be a high priority at this point.

It happens in some games and in other streaming apps as well. Sony need to introduce the PS3 audio settings regardless, and let us specify the audio channels we want to use. Right now it's all done "automatically" and that seems to be causing issues.

I think that's exactly what i'm saying. With a system like i tried to illustrate the user is in control wich feature/application/game gets input from wich device.

If Sony was smart enough to add an interface where the application/game could notify the ps4 of the purposes it uses audio input for (game voice chat, game voice commands, etc.) you even could make the system smarter where you could use game voice commands but no game voice chat.

Doubt they were that smart, as a software developer its easy to see improvements of a system. But when designing/building a system yourself it's easy to forget these kind of (fairly simple, but flexible) solutions.

First stealth update:

Invites now identify where they are from and exactly what they are when they pop up on screen.

For example, a system party invite has the PS logo, while a Ghosts party invite has a little Ghost mask logo.
