While pixel art has all but vanished from the AAA gaming landscape, the rise of the indie scene resulted in a resurgence of this artform.

Also, pixel art isn't exclusively created for video games anymore. It has been used in music videos, cartoons, tv series, adverts, etc.

Third from the end is Koromaru from Persona 3, and I think that the one between K.K. Slider and the Duck Hunt Dog is Iggy from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure (...I guess he's been in one of the JoJo fighting games?)
