Excuse me, is that not the problem with both situations? That violence or rape might be glorified is exactly the issue in both cases. Or are you suggesting that these games are actually realistic with realistic consequences.
We were talking about a hypothetical game at that point.
I wanted to react to this because the explanation is extremely obvious to me.
People aren't going to look for porn that doesn't appeal to them personally. But when it's presented as a side dressing in almost everything that comes out (especially from Japan these days), and when the actual core of the game interests you, it gets really tiring. For example, what's the point of having every woman be a tropey sex object in, say, an RPG, where characters and story are supposed to be the point? Does anyone actually jack off to RPGs? Sometimes you just want to enjoy something without being sexually aroused (Or repulsed. Or considered less than human).
Not to mention there's a tendency for long-running series to amp up the fanservice for straight guys in later installments. In those cases, they're actually excluding part of their old audience.
On the other hand, I don't really have a problem with DoAX. It's just virtual porn. I can simply stay away from it.

Not everyone has to like everything, that's fine. There are plenty of games I think are bad or stupid, but I don't go into threads about them and shitpost about how stupid I think they are. I just don't play them.

The game itself is undeniably pretty shit with bad DLC practices, but it's by far the most well realized real-time lewd game, VR or no. What's the competition for video game cheesecake?

that's really sad if true. and you're right there's no competition. there really should be. i definitely want games where sex is treated maturely. instead we get creepy anime garbage, shitty violate dating sims or david cage jerking himself off.
there are or indie devs doing this well but they tend to be twine games or graphic novel style. which I just don't like. I'd rather read a book.
This game is not the battleground to fight over objectification of women. The entire purpose of this mode and arguably the game it's being added to is fanservice sexual cheesecake. That's the point.
There should really be games that treat violence with some ounce of maturity as well, but there are literally none (AFAIK. At the very least, there are no major games that look at it this way). It is akin to yelling at the whole of gaming to be prim and proper, to regulate any and all decisions towards what is socially acceptable.
EDIT: I see gaming as a medium attempting to provide an escape to that, in all honesty, rather than be molded to what is considered right. For better or worse, that's another discussion for another day.

At the Hong Kong PSN Store there's two different VR passes. The one with just the VR pass and the one apparently including Marie and Honoka. If I've got the full game is the latter pointless since I still will be able to "play" with Marie and Honoka with the cheaper VR Pass? Thank you!

First off, hell of a necrobump. Still, I can understand wanting to talk about DOAX3 VR. It's the primary reason why I keep thinking about getting a PSVR, despite the fact that I already own a Rift. I was also lucky enough to download the pack when it was free for the Asian version of DOAX3
Granted, you get more options with something like Honey Select VR, but there's just something about DOAX3 and them being the official models that makes it all the more amazing.

My fear is we'll see less games with sex appeal overall if the console market tries to squash them out. I'm supporting hentai VN's on Steam but I don't want to see games like Senran Kagura and Dead or Alive diminished or disappear because the western market won't sell them like Sony is doing.
I imagine more game developers will think twice about making a game if it can only be sold in Japan, hopefully they can just move to the Switch/PC and show Sony the errors of their ways. It actually seems to have worked for Nintendo, they don't censor like they used to so change can be positive!

Sadly, it seems to come from a lot of places now. I get the impression a bunch of these companies are trying to shed their previous audience due to the excessive negative press around them. For years now it seems like Dead or Alive is trying to cut the fan service down and then going back on it only to try again. Then you have all these developers insulting their audiences like EA with Battlefield V and Riot with that PAX thing that didn't allow men in and the subsequent insults from employees (before they were fired). There is so much hate around gaming it's starting to cause me more stress than fun. Reading a game dev or journalist label me every name under the sun quite hurtful, really. I'm not sexist or a rapist or something for liking these games, jeez. The more those words are thrown around the more likely games will be censored to avoid then, unfortunately.
With Sony going over the rating boards it doesn't matter what developers or publishers want anymore, games like DOAX3 and it's VR here are not going to continue.
