Are your personal tastes misunderstood or frowned upon?

I sometimes tell people i dislike comedies and comedic material in most of movies. That tends to make some people upset even though i try and tell them everyone has different tastes, etc. Do you have tastes that are not popular and that are not always well accepted? Even though it might just be about hobbies? For example today i just told people i did not watch Deadpool because i do not like comedies and want heroes movies to be serious rather than comedic, and their reactions were kind of mixed.

We're going to need to address the "I don't like comedies" portion of your post.

All comedies? Like, the idea of a movie that is written to be funny is something you don't enjoy? That's fine, but you have to understand that most people you meet are not going to feel the same way.

Only with food, since I tend to be pretty picky but I enjoy some food combinations that sound gross on paper but taste great. When I actually get people to try them, they're always surprised.

But mediums like TV or movies? I think my tastes are varied enough that no one's really scoffed at my opinions.

He clearly hates laughing and happiness. Just doesn't care for it.

Maybe, but I am old enough to not give a fuck.

I will read my semi pornographic torture porn novels, and don't care what anyone else thinks!

I can't stand this superhero movie craze. They just release the same shitty movie over and over and over again.

My mother doesn't like that I watch cartoons & anime. Oh and my uncle & grandmother don't like that I play video games. Surprisingly they don't seem to care that I watch wrestling.

I can relate to that, something like lets say Guardians of the Galaxy that has its fair share of comedy is ok and can actually make me laugh, but most of the comedy movies I see seem kinda dull, this might be also a regional thing since I am not a U.S citizen. However, I do laugh with horror movies, specially the ones with zombies in them, last time it happened was during Alien Covenant last saturday, I honestly couldn't hold my laughter in 3 scenes I believe.

To answer the OT question, I guess video games, most of my non gamer friends seem to think that videogames are stuck in the nes/snes/early n64/ps1/era with the exception of them violent call of thief halo that are making children into murder machines

jon bones

hot hot hanuman-on-man action
i'm not a fan of Ranch dressing

people seem to be weirded out by that

anime and pro wrestling are pretty stupid, so i get why people judge others for watching them

U2 is my favourite band and i like country music, you tell me. :D

But i have such a varied taste in music so i like everything in between melodic death metal to house music while also pop music.

Yes a lot of people question my likeness of black metal even though I do have other artists and bands that are more mainstream that I listen to.

People always look at me slightly weird when I say Return of the Jedi is as good as Empire Strikes Back and Ewoks made way more sense than Wookies

People get uncomfortably upset when I say things like:

"No, I haven't watched Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter and am not interested in Game of Thrones because I'm not into fantasy fiction"

Then they try to convince me that if I'd just give it a chance...

They want you to give one of them a chance because those are probably the three best fantasy fiction examples possible. So if you can't get into those then it's just not for you

Anime is good answer too I guess.

I'm a furry, so by default my tastes are seen negatively.

I also despise classical music. Can't fucking stand it. It bores me to tears.

I get it, I just don't enjoy the genre. I've consumed so much media that I know what I like and what I don't. I mentioned this recently on GAF, but t's kinda like how I never got the whole "zombie" craze, so against my better judgment, gave it a chance....and hated every minute of it, and it confirmed what I hate about it: the 'theme' of zombies is just boring to me. I watched I think 4 seasons TWD, I played CoD Zombies, hell I even played PvZ. Still some of the most yawn-inducing subject matter -to me-.

I always equate things like that to someone for instance adamantly telling you they don't like dogs. You wouldn't respond by shoving a dog in their face to show them how great dogs can be....you'd kinda just be like "alright, cool - to each his own" lol.

I never go to the theater to watch a comedy and they dont't make me laugh 99% of times. I have a lot of issues with social comedies because i feel they are made to let alot of people relate to them in one way or another, buti cannnortt relate to them no matter how hard i try.

I am ok with the idea people will not feel the same way, but what is harder to get used to is that it tends to piss some people off.

Another example of unpopular preferencei have is considering episode 3 as the best Star Wars movie ever made.

The vast majority of people that know me think my love of video games and anime is a waste of time. Also toss in my love of downtempo/house/chill music and I just come off as a weirdo apparently.

I generally cannot talk about my interests outside of the internet with other people.
