[RUMOUR] Next Dead Rising game "leaked" on 4chan

  • NOT being developed by Capcom Vancouver. They wanted to move onto other projects, an entirely different studio is working on this one.
  • Began early production back in late 2015, CV was done with Dead Rising after 3 but Capcom had them shit out DR4 using almost entirely old assets for the ten year anniversary
  • Just called 'Dead Rising', for now. Not a reboot, but a complete return to form and almost a 'reset' of sorts for the franchise.
  • Puts you in a college town with three separate sectors, the college, the town, and a mall
  • Takes place 25 years after the original. You play as a photojournalism student named Jack who is infamous for his conspiracy theories that he writes in the college paper. He sees the outbreak as an opportunity to win big and get "the scoop"
  • VERY similar to the original Dead Rising. Time limit is back, and it is tough. Players will have to give up on certain side quests/pick and choose what to do. 100% in a single playthrough IS possible apparently, but only at higher levels.
  • Psychos are back, very similar to the first game. Focused more on normal people who have gone insane rather than flamboyant/sexualized/cartoony villains
  • No characters from previous games appear, however Frank West is apparently mentioned frequently
  • DR4 is not canon, at least in this game's timeline. Willamette is referenced heavily as still being gated off after the events of the first game
  • Photography makes a return, as well as the ability to question and interrogate certain characters. This is used in the story but is also used in side missions
  • Survivor escorts are back, but the AI isn't retarded like the original. Also they only take up about half of the side missions, the other half go into investigatory work and lore

the biggest point against this rumor is seeing how the sales of DR4 went, a new game on the series seems unbealivable right now

DR4 is not canon, at least in this game's timeline. Willamette is referenced heavily as still being gated off after the events of the first game

I thought the last Dead Rising was a return to form?

I'll just go back and replay Dead Rising 1. I don't trust Capcom to do it justice at this point.

After loving 1-3 and avoiding 4 like the plague, I am very interested in this. It be confusing to the general audience what's going on with Dead Rising after 4 and all the weird movies.

This makes me think it's fake. Can't imagine Capcom would so easily go "JK that last one didn't count"

Especially if this began development before DR4 was so poorly received.

Yep, it doesn't make any sense since according to this development began before DR4 launch.

This is the "clearly too good to be true" rule at play...

This sounds like the game a lot of the fans have been crying out for. When has Capcom ever just given people the game they want? It never happens, not without some zany, monkey's paw twist.

Also, unfortunately, I doubt a Dead Rising done well would sell. The franchise has been driven into the ground. I would be there day one, but I am not sure how many other people would be.

BTW, speaking of Dead Rising 4, it was announced as a one-year exclusive for XB1 right? Considering the response it got, does Capcom even bother with a late PS4 port?

But it also sounds suspiciously like everything I would want, so I'm hesitant to believe.

Because they also basically removed the psychopaths and survivor escorts as well. They also touted it as a return to form for Frank West but completely changed his character and voice actor.

I mean, you say that, but we did just get Resident Evil 7, the only RE game to actually feel like a classic RE game in years. And we're also coming off the heels of Zelda: BotW. Hopefully Capcom sees the appeal in ACTUALLY returning to their roots.

Dead Rising 3 leaked years before its release, namely the fact that the protagonist was a mechanic and the fact that
Chuck and Isabella
return.

Not saying that means this rumor is true, but it's definitely more likely than you'd expect.
