Nintendo take note of the OLED sales and be pro consumer by having an OLED model at launch for the Switch 2. :pie_unamused:

Cores, shaders and BIOS oh my!
Wow, Switch is dominating still, I wasn't impressed with the previous two weeks, considering it was two weeks worth of sales, but this third one is pretty great again. PS5 dropped less % wise but yeah, not the best holiday period.

If they take note they won't have it at launch to get the double dippers again, duh.

An OLED model at launch would bring about quicker adoption rates over the first few years of the product lifecycle thus increasing the install base swiftly.

As for double dippers, they could be incentivised to purchase again with an updated model that has improved battery life/more memory/sleeker design/even better screen etc...

Nah. Games do that.

But then they can't make those triple dippers instead.

Only way they go OLED at launch is sourcing the screens for about the same low price or even cheaper if many manufacturers are switching to OLED for phones and tablets and what not anyway.

Not disagreeing that games are the best way to increase adoption rates. But it's also known there are plenty of people who wait for the revised model. As we can see from the OLED model here, more and more are opting to pay more for the premium/superior version. So it would be a good to have the option of buying one at launch considering it shouldn't be difficult to have two versions, one without OLED at lets say $399 and one with at $449-499. Otherwise it would be a step back and lame going from a Switch OLED to a Switch 2 LCD. Downgrade!

The first week of January is big in Japan so expect both hardware and software to have big declines next week.
That is what I am mostly expecting.

But then again PS5 sales have been so weird and steady these past two months, that it could do 40k for the next three weeks in a row and I wouldn't be that shocked (but still quite shocked).

I dont know if it lead to something or not. But, japanese PS5 is cheaper than regular in my country in south east asia. Almost cut $60-70. And lotta people bought japanese here because cheaper. I think it could give idea for maybe some of the hardware sold in japan, is actually will be sold in another country? And that's might be one of the reason, that japanese ps5 hardware sold well but suspiciously there are rarely goes into famitsu list. I'm not analyst, just saying some of the situation in my place.

For anyone interested, the first game sold 405.463 units at retail (OG + Value Selection + GOTY) as of January 1, 2023, while Miles Morales sold 164.477 units (PS4 + PS5) as of August 20, 2023.

Moderated wildly
The switch domination is wild to see. Everyone's down a little year on year. Great to see spider man 2 hanging in the charts.

Switch 2 is going to be huge....if they don't wii u it's ass with its reveal.
(I don't think there's any chance of that happening)

Spiderman 2 bundles prevent a Switch top 30. Potentially one of the last times it could have happened as PS5 has a pretty busy Q1.

Edit: also shows just how badly SE fucked up with Dragon Quest Monsters stock.
