It's been a while but I remember Advent Children 2.0 or whatever it was called (the Blu Ray version with the bunch of extra scenes that expanded on the story) was actually pretty decent? I know the first version wasn't great due to bad editing / disjointed story.
I mean I will always kind of hate Advent Children as I like the FF7 ending interpretation that humanity returned to the lifestream, but the 2nd version of AC was at least pretty decent.

I think what they need to work on is making the npc's interesting. They are all so full of life in FFVII, but you get to the likes of Advent Children and all the background characters look like they were designed by looking at clothing catalogs

You have to assume that the content creation, whilst a mammoth task, will be made easier by the fact that they know exactly what needs to be in the game. They shouldn't really be making any redundant stuff. The main question (for us - probably not for them at this stage) is the exact manner in which one traverses the landscape. But once that's locked down, hopefully it's just a matter of go go go on the content creation.

On the Kotaku video, you hear the tone change between the end of the trailer/"remake" appearing, it's glorious.

Probably still being decided. The soundtrack is the last thing they need to tackle.
In order of likelihood my guesses are.

My dream pick would still be Uematsu.

Why are you putting "simple tweaks" in quotation marks? I don't think changing the battle system of an RPG is a simple tweak!

A lot of people are hyped about Omnislash, but I'm so looking forward to see Braver again. I thought its animation was simple, yet satisfying as hell. And the sound the attack makes felt really impactful and...satisfying.

This E3 was for us bros who grew up in the 90s. Amazing conference. I don't know if Sony will ever top this. FF7!!!!!!

I was holding a fork which was loaded with Kung Pao Chicken. I dropped the fork to the floor, jumped out of my chair, nearly stepped on my cat and yes there were tears.

I had chills. As soon as I saw what appeared to be Midgar, I stood up. Then came the music....and Cloud. I legitimately started tearing up. Sony dropped so many bombs I still can't process it all. Great conferences on both sides this year!
