Read non story stuff, my hype is really high. I know next to nothing about this game, going in near blind.
Been wondering about this for a while personally. I'd be ok with them having some sort of summon charge bar like FFX did with summon overdrives provided it was a bit of a slow burn. I doubt it will be like the demo since that just seemed to be there to show it off.
This and how summons will work in caves are the two main questions for gameplay on my mind at the moment. I was thinking they can downscale some summons but others may not work, unless Titan just punches his way in or something.
- When moving to FFXV, the game disconnected from Fabula Nova Crystallis. Additionally, Stella from Versus XIII was shifted significantly and while the team tried to keep as much as they could from the original concepts they took this opportunity to shape XV into a full range of imagination.
- FFXVs story focuses on friendship, destiny and legacy.
-Four quest types: for fun (minigames:fishing/chocobo race/JusMon5 etc.), main story, monster hunts and regional quests. Currently over 200 quests and they're working on more;
"Tabata believes the franchise can’t move forward without setting pride aside – he knows fans still have hope in where the series could go."Kagari has put up the full summary on her site. The spoilers are unmarked so be careful as it spoils the introduction.

No intention to create sequels? Now that does blow my mind.
Tabata and his team at Business Division 2 identified three core qualities they believe define the FF brand: challenging the status quo, providing an exceptional experience and using cutting-edge technology. He thinks FFVII was the last game in the series to use all three points. FFXV is a make-or-break moment a chance to bring back lapsed fans and new ones into the fold.
I believe Tabata honestly. Everytime he talks about an Alt History FF, Type-Next, or his desire to work on a new IP I get the impression he can't wait to move on from FFXV.
Ultimately isn't his choice though.
What.....
Personally I thought VIII, IX, X, and XII fit those criteria, no?

I did think that givenThose who have read the story spoilers, the trailer makes complete sense now and it is basically set in the first chapter
Thanks Tabata for not spoiling anything major yet.

I'm not a fan of XI since I'm not into online games, but it's a MMO that originated on the PS2 in series of single player RPGs. That alone makes me think that it should fit the criteria as well.
They have no intention of creating sequels, but if it's successful you know they will.
Just take my money, Square Enix.
I'm a bit worried with what Tabata said about Luna, and I'm not talking about her relationship with Noctis but how he described her as (spoiler tag just in case)"That heroine that you always want to meet, but can't quite reach"
That leads me to believe that we'll always beone step behind her, sort of like how Link was with Zelda in Skyward Sword for example, and there won't be really much interaction with her throughout the game.
Do you really think S-E is going to let Tabata say all of these things about how the franchise has lost its way and how this is what's necessary to restore its lustre only to erase all of that goodwill like two years from now? Come on.
As for what he thinks about FFVII versus other entries in the franchise I think you could make compelling arguments for and against that position, but it's ultimately his opinion.
Also I'm secretly scared that LunaWill be the main Villan. In a childhood friend becomes obsessed with you and invades your kingdom to force you into an arranged marriage type way.
-GI has this to say, "FFXV isn't Witcher 3 or Dragon Age Inquisition in terms of your to-do list. That isn't necessarily bad because your quest log isn't bloated by insignificant or uninteresting tasks.....inspires a feeling similar to pre-PS2 Final Fantasies where there were huge overworld maps that made the setting seem authentic and enormous - even if you didn't find a quest every step."
This struck fear into me.
This relieved it a little.
Rest sounds good.
Why people would even want it like witcher 3 or whatever is beyond me. This is a JRPG

I'm surprised no one's mentioned the info on the FF7 remake.
Please... it must be him:
Should someone make a separate thread for it? Especially since it reconfirms that each part will be the size of a full game.
Yea, no clue what Tabata is talking about here.
I feel like it's the "cinematic approach" all over again, just in different clothes.

It's old news then.
Tabata not giving IX, X, and XII in particular their dues is pretty sad. Final Fantasy was, more often than not, very good and not wanting for innovation up until XIII.
He said there are three cores: cutting edge tech, challenging status quo, and being an excellent game.
In his opinion (I don't really agree with them), those could be excellent games but don't measure up in the other two criteria.

Which do you see as "the other two"? I really think the games I mentioned there hit all three of those. I mean, SE even sold X on the first two themselves, and obviously the game sold and reviewed very well, so that covers the last one.
You have to think about what he refers to. FF7 at the time was ground breaking. 8 and 9 expanded on those systems but didn't have the same impact. Sure gameplay changed just a little but largely the structure of those games were generally the same.
Technologically, I don't think FFIX matches up since it does a lot of what FFVIII already did.
But I definitely think he's wrong on FFX. Even if I don't like the game. FFXII I have not played so I can't say.
I think he's just being a hardass boss.
So much this. I've waited 42% of my life for this game. I've never given up hope. In Tabata we trust. That all sounds amazing to me. I never lost hope for this game.
6 more months.
