German etailer complains about low Xbox One supply, Sony delivers 450x more PS4s

Seems kind of a high ratio but I am pretty sure there are going to be a lot more PS4's at launch than XB1's in general. My company (US) is getting slightly more than 3x as many PS4's than XB1's.

As I say, I've seen it before. I've seen European non-native English speakers (less so in younger people) use 'times' when they were inticating a unitary amount or 'units'. It's that or Microsoft really allocated them 5 units.

So ... lets say they received 5 X!'s. That would mean they received 2,250 PS4's?

And this is despite having the same amount of pre-orders for X1 , PS4?

Very believable. German etailers are complaining about low suppy for Xbox One for a while now.

A friend of mine who has a game shop for more than 15 years won' receive any consoles at all.

No they didn't.

They said they had enough Xbox ones for 35 seconds and that sony shipped them 450 times as many consoles.

Trust me it's really. not. I'm a German native speaker. The guy says : 450 * XBOX = PS4 shipment numbers.

Wouldn't it make a lot more sense if it was 4.5 times as many instead of 450 times as many? Perhaps the original source says / means 450% ?

The fact that he claims to have a similar amount of preorders for both doesn't compute either. If there was a similar demand but the shipments were so different, the PS4 wouldn't be sold out everywhere while preorders for X1 still seem to be up.

Anyway, this is hardly confirmation. 450x sounds a bit....unrealistic. We'll know soon enough I guess after WW shipped/sold numbers are provided.

The source does say 450 times ("mal"), as it's been confirmed several times earlier in this thread. But maybe the source itself is wrong...

Right.

Unless MS just completely botched the pre-order process and allowed around 400x more pre-orders then they could actually produce in units.

Overall, odd article. Damning if true, but doubtful. Or maybe an international issue? Who knows.

It's not that interesting, the guy is just expressing his anger at Microsoft. But the 450x and <50% Day One figures are correctly translated.

Perhaps he means that they sold at a similar rate of "x consoles per second."

I saw today some Day One Pre Oder Boxes in a Saturn in münster...well presentation was pretty bad and i almost didnt see it. It looked very random lol

I think MS concentrates on much bigger retailers like Amazon,Gamestop Saturn and Media Markt

Thanks xHunter. Three things I want to highlight from the full mail:

- Xbox One preorders were in the three-digit range after the first five minutes

- more than half of the Xbox One consoles within the first 35 seconds after the console went up for sale were standard editions

- "every other specialist dealer receives the same disastrous numbers from Microsoft"

They took preorders before having a fixed number given to them by the manufacturers.

Sony was quick to allocate them a certain number after they reported how many preorders they got while they were ignored by microsoft.

I think the easiest explanation is that gave the bulk of Units to the big retailers like Saturn or Media Markt and that there was nothing left for the smaller (specialist) stores.

It's really not. My store - a major electronic retailer, in an average Canadian city - is set to only receive 24 ps4's on launch day INCLUDING pre-orders. There are going to be a lot of unhappy people. Infact I have started people to not even bother coming on launch day because they won't get one.

Since the preorders were in the three-digit range after 5 minutes I guess the first 35 seconds really means like about 5 consoles which should really suck. Means that there are hundreds of people who know will not get one and if there are more stores who have that problem then there will be alot of pissed people. I hope they are at least giving out enough consoles to big retailers like Media Markt oder Saturn so that the people will be able to buy them in stores at launch.

Im think s what happened too. They both had a good amount of preorders but MS only allocated them a small number while Sony went in with a high number to fill.

It seems to me they are pissed off that MS completely ignored them while sony treated them "according to our status" (their words).

Which means they got quite a few PS4 and almost no Xboxes. It's not that far fetched.

I'm not sure, but I doubt it. Who knows, though? I hope that CBoaT will grace us with his presence before the 22nd, though. If there really is an ass storm coming, I'd rather not be stuck with the consequences (should it turn out to be hardware issues or something).
