Halo 5 Guardians: #huntthetruth

BeforeU

Oft hope is born when all is forlorn.
Very good answer. I would say the same, but I have a strange feeling we'll be getting BOTH. :)

No way we getting a SP demo, One more MP demo for everyone before launch is inevitable though.

I wouldn't be so confident for a season 2. Spartan Ops was touted as Season 1 and we never got anything else after.

But Spartan Ops didnt get same love from the fans. It just wasn't that good

I can dream.. Imagine for a moment if the very next day after the final hunt the truth episode of this season comes to a close, it's followed up with not just some SP footage that Microsoft will show us all at E3, but a hands on demo that all xbox one owners will have the opportunity to play and experience for themselves firsthand. Sure, it will be mentioned that what we are about to play isn't indicative of the final game's quality as it's still in active development, but it would be pretty fucking amazing if things actually went down that way.

I absolutely hated Spartan Ops. I'm normally very open to new things, but Spartan Ops felt way too tedious and way too repetitive IMHO.

What I would love is for 343 to add a mode that feels very similar to Spec Ops in Modern Warfare 2. If no one remembers what Spec Ops was, they were 2 player co-op challenges that had you and a friend work together to complete various different types of objectives. Examples like sneak into a base and disarm the bomb with only a few minutes on the clock, or protecting a base while something downloads/extracts while setting up defenses, or working together to save a hostage...I also remember one objective with one ally in the air in a vehicle while the other was on the ground escaping enemies...player in the air had to support and extract the player on the floor (communication was crucial). The crazy thing is that Halo has what it takes to create stuff like this. Wish they did it for Halo 5.

Adding stars would be awesome too... Complete it on Normal will give you 1 star, heroic 2 stars, and Legendary 3 stars. Stars can be used to unlock some new armor, skins, achievements, etc.

That same thing can also be accomplished while improving on Spartan Ops. If you're playing with a couple friends then they can handle one set of objectives while you handle another.

So a prologue mission then?

They would've had to lie to him, don't you think? It doesn't strike me as something he would do blindly. Then again, Ben is threatening the very survival of ONI, and so I could see how it could be easily rationalized that the life of one journalist isn't worth the total decimation of the ONI organization. And, for better or worse, ONI has been absolutely crucial in humanity's defense against threats of all kinds.
It wouldn't be a hard sell. As far as ONI knows Ben killed those agents they sent to find him. So not only is in he possession of valuable information, he's killed ONI personnel. On top of that he's gone off world. Ben has made himself a high value target and Locke is an ONI Acquisitions Specialist afterall.

Has there been any discussion of how Halo 5 will integrate into the MCC?

Is it just going to be another game tab?

It won't, will it? I haven't heard of anything to say it will. Otherwise how would non-MCC owners play 5?

Would be awesome, though.

I believe someone at 343i (maybe Stinkles? If I'm remembering right it was quite a while ago so I'm not sure) might have lightly hinted it was possible, but that's it. Unless I missed something.

As for how it would/could be integrated, theoretically MCC could import H5's contents from the HDD and from there, yeah, it would probably just be extra tabs everywhere and maybe some new cross-game matchmaking/campaign playlists.

Regarding MCC vs. non-MCC owners, they could include all of Halo 5's matchmaking playlists within the MCC UI. If you choose one of those H5 playlists you'd use that game's matchmaking system (making MCC essentially just a UI shell on-top of H5) and be matched with anyone playing H5, either through the game itself or MCC. If you were to choose a MCC cross-game playlist with H5 maps, you'd use MCC's matchmaking system and exclusively match with MCC-based players. Or something like that.

Granted all of that seems like it could become extremely complicated on the technical side very quickly, and even if they had planned for this kind of integration, it's probably been shelved or canceled outright due to MCC's issues. It's been half a year and vanilla MCC still has issues, I doubt they want to tackle something that complicated on top of continuing to iron everything out. And 343i/MS probably want to distance H5 from MCC if they can. So yeah, I'm not expecting it at all.

With the utmost respect for Frankie and 343i, additional technical complexity by adding yet another engine to MCC doesn't give me warm fuzzy feelings inside.

I say, get Halo 5 out the door and working, get good feedback and response from the press and community, and provide a consistent and stable base to launch from (the 5 UI). Then consider adding it to MCC post-launch such that any issues will have minimal impact.

Another issue at launch is the last thing they need.

A ui wrapper inclusion would make it so much nicer as a digital purchase.

Please make sure halo 5 works before putting it in the mcc.... If that is what they are planning?

I dont think that we will see an SP demo outside of E3. But I would love another MP demo to make sure their on-line set up is functioning. Again, I dont think we will have one though.

The wait for halo 5 is killing me. After the beta, no game can quench my thirst... That beta was fucking amazing!

Anybody else wanting a really long and exciting sniping mission in Halo 5's SP? Something along the lines of the one in CoD4. Preferably trekking through some cool alien planet environments,

I thought that Nightfall in Reach was going to be this, but it turned quite quickly into a more run and gun mission. It dropped you to ground level way too quickly IMO.

Agree! I had to Youtube that mission again, as it's ages since I've played Reach, and it begins almost exactly (and looks exaactly) like a mission in the remastered Halo 1!

No. Halo's all about the fast and frantic combat for me.

Yeah I think so too, just thinking it may be nice to add variation.

Dropping FF in H4 was bizarre and painful. SpOps was alright, but I would rather have just watched the cut scenes and played FF instead.

Really depends on who we get to play as to be honest, the inclusion of the Spartan teams on the cover could well mean that players get a certain loadout in 4-player co-op (if this is happening?). If the rumours about the levels being more open are true, the sniper can take their own path and pick people off from afar. I'd love that approach.

When they announced H4 and showed the single player demo did we already know that FF wasn't going to be in it and that SpartanOps was a thing. I really hope they announce FF is coming back.

That sounds amazing, hoping for this too!

At some point someone from 343 did say they will look at that option but after the huge fuckup that MCC is, no way they going to include it with that. Just a bad press. This is going to be its own thing.

I still think it could happen post-launch.

.

Nicking part of your quote there,

When I played Destiny the first time the alarm bells were ringing as its eerily familiar.

Although *one game dropped firefight and another game gained it.

Loved the cutscenes to spartan ops and probably should look at getting the comics since I have read all the books.

Be nice to have both modes. But if I had to choose it'd be firefight.

But which one? ODST style or Reach style?

Sure, Reach added matchmaking, but it was time limit only and not survival. Plus, I wasn't a fan of any of the maps or the fact that Spartans just felt way too powerful. There was more of a sense of danger and vulnerability when you played as an ODST.

Man if this really happens they are going to make Locke REALLY hard to like considering he's going to be playable in the game.

Holy shit, this show gets better with every damn episode. I have to say I am quite impressed with 343.

They need to open the E3 trailer of Halo 5 with Giraud talking.

This!!! If they did this I would be in love. Or Imagine, they just have Giraud narrorating everything in the trailer as it happens.

I am so hyped for the thought of a season 2, I would pay for this if i had to!

I dunno if this provides anything of value, but did you guys see the Gameinformer Halo 5 cover? If for nothing else, that alien robot thing at a different angle.

Also from that issue,
Cortana says "The Domain is open. Meridian is next. You only have three days. John, the Reclamation is about to begin."
awww shiit

So
this means the domain was never destroyed by the Halos! Maybe the Floodcursors made it appear that way to make the Didact crazy...
