Nintendo needs a Diversity push, they could have easily added a black ARMS fighter too smh
Well one of the leaked characters definitely looks of colour to me.

Are some of them Asian? I've been told on GAF that anime characters are generally Japanese unless stated otherwise; I'm guessing that logic extends to video game characters as well
I do. I would have cared even more when I was a kid, believe it or not.
Have they been unanimously claimed by Black twitter though?
It's probably up there. Is Splatoon the most inclusive IP of Nintendo? Female Inklings aways in the front, and black inklings too.
There is a black/dark skin fighter in ARMS yet to be officially revealeddoing the same

That is cool, but who really cares?
According to Google, Japan is 1.5 percent black. Probably has something to with it.
What percent of Japan is an Italian American stereotype 🤔According to Google, Japan is 1.5 percent black. Probably has something to with it.

Pretty big deal, actually.
Why do people always have to step in to these threads to tell people that they don't care? We get it you're probably white.
Have we seen all of the Arms characters yet?
Okay lol I'm sure the various baby plumbers and bones around the world feel very represented.I fail to see how this is a big deal. This is a franchise where you can pick bones, baby plumbers, and literal ghosts as your character. It's not really the vessel for race statements, to be honest.
Honestly it's a pretty big deal. Seems kinda overlooked when Splatoon was released, though. Nintendo has a very big problem with light skinned characters. Not that it's a problem problem, as I believe a creator can make whatever character they want without the need for someone calling it racist and what not, but the fact of having this characters is a great thing.

That's exactly my point. It's not a universe steeped in reality, so why try injecting reality into it?
The alt colour for Inkling boy v1 has darker skin, and Inkling girl v2 is dark too.I believe the new Splatoon Amiibo are black inklings, so they are being recognized somewhat.

1.5%I, for one, need to see the statistics of Hylians/elfish featured people in Japan.
Well they did that when they added very obviously white humanoid characters. That's exactly my point. It's not a universe steeped in reality, so why try injecting reality into it?
This is kind of a weird sentiment to me when I can look at this post and think "hmm, look at all this wacky ass shit that's been introduced *before* a basic nice looking whimsical black character in this 20+ year old franchise."
Oh snap I forgot about the 2nd version of Those amiibo. Cool stuff. The alt for Inkling boy v1 has darker skin, and Inkling girl v2 is dark too.
These look "tan" to me, but it's still nice to see different skin tones. (On a side note, I -really- want that girl amiibo!)The alt colour for Inkling boy v1 has darker skin, and Inkling girl v2 is dark too.

Seriously. As a (black) kid you eventually go through all the phases to rationalize not seeing any characters of color in games and settle on what's there.
But then it happens and you just can't stop grinning.
Could we expect a PoC lead character from nintendo in the future?
This got me thinking about how cool it'd be if they just straight-up added a black character. I mean, Waluigi came out of nowhere in Mario Tennis 64, and Toadette in Mario Kart: Double Dash. Nothing stopping them from inventing a character out of the blue. Are there even any black Mario characters?
Maybe in one of the RPGs.
The Gerudo people in BOTW appear to be inspired by middle eastern cultures, hopefully we see representatives added via DLC or MK9.so what?
where are middle eastern representives for me Nintendo
Have they been unanimously claimed by Black twitter though?
