International GAF: How to buy from US/UK Xbox One Game Store

By now I see these "concerns" simply as FUD.
This has been promoted by MS for so long, there is no way they can go back on it. The backlash would be so hard they´d never recover from it.

I agree and therefore I proceed with my HK new residence thingy :D

It's not officially out in Hong Kong yet is it, wasn't that one of the issues with the Oman incident?

Edit- Actually the main reason was the free games glitch in Oman if I remember correctly

hmm iirc the oman was because of some free games offered for that region only? and on 360?
if it is that one, i dont think its the same deal. I want to buy stuff, not get the regional freebies (even though no regional blocks exist on xbone)
I mean, if I can ask my friend to buy me a couple of games from hong kong retail market, then bring the discs here to play them, is there really a difference?
only for my cc I am a bit worried, as I already have it declared for the normal marketplace i use. It doesnt seem like that would create a problem, unless someone at ms fucks up?

Yeah just remembered it was due to free games glitch.

Awesome pricing at Xbox One Indian store (store is not live yet, it goes live on 23rd September when Xbox One launches, fingers crossed for prices to remain the same):

Older first-party titles such as Ryse and Forza 5 are marginally cheaper on the Smartglass app at INR 2700 ($45) and INR 3900 ($64). Not much of a deal, right? That is of course, until you discover the pricing for multi-platform games. New titles like Metro Redux and Diablo III: Ultimate Evil Edition are fairly priced at INR 1880 ($31) and INR 2410 ($40) respectively.

Heavy hitters like Titanfall are also well-priced at INR 2500 ($41). These prices are almost half of what the grey market charges locally and a fair bit lower than most Western markets. How long this lasts however, is another story. Given that EA ramped up prices for India after an influx of non-Indian buyers on Origin, you’d be wise to get what you want before the prices inevitably go up.

Is this gonna be okay? I mean I download from the US store all the time. If people keep switching locale's to wherever is cheapest I can't see MS letting it slide. I hope I'm wrong though. I couldn't bare to buy stuff from the UK store.

If they decide to take action you are fucked anyways since you already bought from the us store. Might as well get everything out of it while it lasts. That said the prices in HK are better.

Got to think with the tier 2 stores launching they might start locking some of this off.

Just buy XBL credit from amazon or target.com

Just use it while it lasts. MS wont do shit. They dont want any more bad PR now.

Didn't they ban you because of the Oman thing?

MS will ban ppl for buying from another region's store, sure :D

Do you really believe this, especially, at this situation ? If they ban for this reason, most of Live users will be banned...Most of the ppl are buying from US store for years..It's 7 years for me..I live in europe and bought from us store, always

And, XO is not in good place as X360, so MS cant do that..They'd better shut down Xbox division if they do this...

Honk Kong thing seems iffy to me purely based on the fact the console isn't released in that territory yet. Buying from US/EU/Canada is one thing because these are all active shops that MS run, but Hong Kong isn't. Seems risky to me.

I might just be jealous that you paid less for it than me.

It's no different really in that the store is setup and the games are available. Had MS actually had a problem with this they would punish you the exact same way if you were caught doing it from either store.

Tried to buy a digital 50 dollar Xbox code from amazon.com and the purchase got immediately blocked.

I used the gift card method described in the OP and a Borderlinx address when I bought the code.

Are there any online shops where I can buy codes without these problems? Target.com doesn't work for me. The site won't even load. Walmart.com?

Try sites that are selling keys for online games, they have US points from time to time, but the prices vary greatly. From 1:1 to only a few euros off.

That's freaking great. Amazon blocked my account and decided my order was fraudulent. Unfortunately I already redeemed a code on xbox.com. Now I'm hoping they didn't contact Microsoft to block the code. Which would mean that Microsoft would block my account.

The gift card method mentioned in the OP seems NOT the way to go.

OP updated.

Quick update:

Amazon.com issued a refund for the order to my gift card balance account. I also got a reply from an "account specialist" and after explaining the situation again I got the info that the code wouldn't be marked as fraudulent. They also apologized for the inconvenience.

I also requested that my account should be charged for that order because I'm not comfortable for ordering and redeeming the code but not paying for it.

So... any opinions on region change allowing earlier play of Destiny?

I have it pre-purchased on live. I might try switching regions monday night swedish time to see if it becomes available early in, for example, australia.

NZ is 9 hours ahead of you so you could try change after 3 and it might be playable. I know I'll be trying in early evening.

So how much is diablo 3 in the HK and US stores in British pounds??

HK roughly £22

US roughly £35

both depend on the exchange rate you get and if your card issuer cons you for a fee..

I use post office credit card

no charges and bank rate conversion, however the pound is crashing at present so it will get more expensive daily

Ok interesting fact....

I bought the physical copy of Diablo 3: Reaper Of Souls on release but have decided to get the DD from the HK store (can sell my physical copy on eBay and still be quids in), i decided to leave the game installed as i thought that i then wouldn't need to download the 22 odd GB of game date. BUT, once the game was purchased it didnt download any data but started to install game the game instead even though the game (physical copy) is already installed on my system. So would this suggest that the 2 version are different in some way?

They are different in that the digital one will have all it needs including DRM info whereas disc one always asks for the disc to be present.

Ah ok, i would have thought it might have just resumed at like 95% download then and download whatever was needed....but i guess this isnt the case, maybe the file structure is all different!

Do we know if we will get, Alien: Isolation - Nostromo Edition for DD, or is this for actual retail pre-orders??

Same happened to me, when using Amazon to buy PSN codes. It worked a couple of times, but then my account was put on hold and I got the following email:

Seeing as I've used a fake address which isn't tied to my CC, I figured there was no point in faxing over the info (also, faxing in 2013/2014.. what the shit?). I don't really know what would have happened after I'd fax the info they asked for.. I emailed them back with a few questions, and got confirmation that they would work on my email as soon as possible. Been waiting for an answer since 2nd of December 2013.

I've been using Offgamers.com ever since I got that mail, and it's been working perfectly.

Hey GAF! I am going to be living in Germany for 9-months starting in December and am planning to buy games off of the US PSN Store. My friend from Germany claims that there is no way to do this because of some block? I didn't know such a thing existed, but my PS4 & PSN accounts are both US and my system will be coming with me. Will I have any issues?

So I tried to buy from the HK store using my VISA Debit card from Natwest and it says something about the payment option not working and to contact the bank?

Any ideas?

Will I have to use my Credit Card instead?

Your bank most likely stopped the transaction thinking it was fraud. Phone them and explain that it's you.

The amazon stuff is worrying, i've bought $200 worth of PSN credit before with no problem using the voucher method - so there is no credit card billing address because you are using vouchers for payment.
