I just watched this movie again. MAN, it's SO GOOD.
It's just so confident, and moves so deftly between the hilariously slapstick and the bitterly tragic and the heartwarmingly sweet, with a pinch of genuine horror here and there. But it's mainly funny, like REALLY funny. It's amazing how well the humor comes across in a movie with subtitles. I mean, several of my favorite films are subtitled (Pan's Labyrinth, Amélie), but Journey to the West here is especially impressive with how it wears its heart on its sleeve.
I'm sorry, I know this isn't a movie review thread, but I just love this movie... :-D
