Dark Souls trilogy.
I don't think Nintendo or even its fans care about 3rd party games tbh.
I think the fans that do care are a small minority on message boards like this. They can't sustain most of the core, western titles we're talking about here. The number of people that would buy it isn't big enough for third parties to spend lots of time, money and effort when they could be developing for other systems with a more likely-to-buy audience. The third parties would be better off developing titles that would appeal to the Nintendo crowd - thing is, if there's more money elsewhere, should they bother?By November, switch will be TWO generations behind the competition.
What sane developer is going to spend time and effort drastically reducing the quality of their product to fit on Switch?
When even Ubisoft (Nintendo's best buddy) didn't even bother this time around, it's apparent that western 3rd party support has gone from bad to worse with Switch.

Perhaps people that know that the games come out there. It's a typical vicious circle.
I see this argument alot but I just think from reading multiple message boards the average Nintendo fan isn't into Western style games. It could be they pretend not to like them since they don't release on their console sorry if how indie games on Vita were bad but now Indies on switch are amazing. But I don't know the sentiment is too consistent across too many forums and time to not be real.
The games don't sell because the nfans don't like them. If they were really into Western games they would most likely already purchased another console to play them with.
It's only 1 game. We had a 10+ page thread with shit posting about what do you buy on the Switch besides Zelda.
Not only was there shitposting the thread got embarrassing with a significant contingent hyping up Bomberman of all games.
Nearly every Nintendo system I've ever owned bar maybe one. Not many of the games I bought them for would count as AAA though.who buys Nintendo hardware for the third party games
Why should they?Like, all the major publishers gave Nintendo nothing.
Then its those games' fault not the systems then for running so badly
What AAA third party games do you expect the Switch to run (and on a level anyone would consider comparatively acceptable)?
Switch has got Zelda. This alone is enough.
No... NO! This insular thinking is toxic, Zelda could be the greatest game ever made, but it's not a stealth game, it's not a racing game, it's not a multiplayer/party game, or a survival horror it's one game in one genre that appeals to fans of that one genre, and those third party games didn't fare any better during a period Nintendo released bugger all on the WiiU, and "shitty port" isn't an absolute excuse for how anemic 3rd party sales were, PS3 and Xbox 360 had their fair share of shitty ports at their respective launch windows and they still sold in the hundreds of thousands at least.
It's like saying other games shouldn't have released at launch with COD on the PS4 and Xbox One because it will munch out any other game, it is possible someone can go into a store and buy 2 games for the Switch instead of 1.
I Am Setsuna... importing a cartridge version from Japan since the Switch is region free and will play the game in English. I also have bomberman, but honestly, I haven't opened it yet and am considering returning it and waiting until it goes on sale. It just screams deep discount to me.What are people going to play after finishing Zelda?
What feature does the Switch have that cannot be done on either the PS4 or XB1 that would call for a unique third party game? Besides just being able to play the console experience on the go?
Dark Souls trilogy.
Exactly what I was going to say.
I can get GTA V and MGS V together because they are different types of games. And sports? No reason to 'fear Zelda' lol.
I don't get this type of thinking either.
I remember the interview where gearbox stated they would have brought Borderlands but they Nintendo didn't want to pony up the cash to do it. Maybe it's more of third parties not wanting to take the risk on porting games to The Switch at the moment while Nintendo would rather put their money towards their own games.

Why would EA release a FIFA game when the season is nearly over? They've said they'll support it with next seasons edition.
This is just a reality of releasing a console in March instead of November, there aren't very many current AAA western releases and nobody wants to buy ports of old widely available games.
To be fair, difference there is;Wii U Launch Lineup:

Not sure but I remember ubisoft having a really strong start selling 8 shovelware titles on Wii launch. They did quite well considering their bad quality.Did the 3rd parties sell well for wii u? Particularly at launch?

But not a good launch lineup if you want to sell a new system.Honestly that's a pretty good launch line-up.

It's nothing to do with a March release.
Since Nintendo entered the console business their home console market has kept shrinking, except for Wii of course.
When Sony entered the market it gave developers a chance to make the games they wanted to make without bowing to the Nintendo draconian overlords.
Those developers loved the fact they would see more power come each generation and it would enable them to do the games they wanted to make.
Gamers wanted those sorts of games.
Nintendo just fell behind and relied on their first party to sell their console.
When phones entered the market casual home console gaming fell off a cliff.
Nintendo then released Wii U, a severely underpowered, expensive, odd, confusing console. It provided NOTHING for the big developers and ultimately sold nothing.
When Switch comes along, developers just look at the last 20 years of Nintendo consoles and go "There's no market there for our games and there are about 60 million consoles out there that are 4-10x as powerful as the Switch, why would we bother?"
What AAA third party games do you expect the Switch to run (and on a level anyone would consider comparatively acceptable)?
Because porting a current gen 3rd party AAA game to the Switch means it needs to be heavily downgrade in order to even run.
It's just a subtle way to claim Nintendo's games are so much better than anything that third parties can't compete.
I don't personally agree, and sales like GTAV show the truly popular titles aren't from Nintendo.

This is blatantly untrue. What we know of the Switch's CPU seems to place it on par with the PS4 and Xbox One, while its GPU should be able to run most modern 3rd party games in 1080p checkerboard, a resolution "Hardcore Gamers" have deemed acceptible on PS4 with Rainbow 6 Siege.
It's ok. Emily Rogers said the launch line-up of the Switch is better than the entire WiiU catalog.
To be fair, the PS4 Pro is more of n3DS to the base PS4 than a whole new generation, & something similar could be said of Scorpio unless Microsoft wants to treat it as an entirely new gen. In the case of the former, it's not like there's gonna be any PS4 Pro exclusives anytime soon.By November, switch will be TWO generations behind the competition.

How do you compete with breath of the Wild tbh?
£270 + £60 is a lot to pay. Most people would be able to afford only one game at launch and that most likely will be Zelda.
