Lego City Undercover Switch cover mentions 13GB download [Up3: Full game on card]

I have the French version of the game, it says nothing about needing an internet connection on the case...

On the NA version its printed right on the cover of the case at the bottom. Its not a sticker its just printed right on the art insert

I wonder what happened? I know the other versions are 20 gig...

I wonder if that 13gb is all higher rez textures? And they originally planned to have a 13gb download to have to play the game? Then they sent it in for cert and got told "hell no" by nintendo?

At this point they already had budgeted for 8gb carts and printed the NA case insert? So they just downgraded (or more hevily compressed) textures on the switch version so it could fit on the cart?

The above seems farfetched but what else makes sense? I have not compared textures or anything like that the above is all just speculation straight from my ass.

I still wish they actually included this as a packin game with the new release. It's not terrible, but it's really poor because of the 3DS limitations.

Yeah....no. The 3DS game was very poorly thought-out:

-Tedious combat. Every single enemy except bosses takes 3 hits to beat, but every single hit will cause this long drawn out sequence of the crook falling to the game & can't be hit again until he's done with his getting-back-up animation. Considering there are many many required fist fights in the averaging about 6-9 thugs per fight, it drags the whole game down to a painful slog. Particularly baffling when the Wii U game didn't have this problem.

-No levels. Such a misplace of priorities. Instead of proper conventional stages that the 3DS is perfectly capable of, they focused on the open-world that the handheld can't run for shit. It's a lose-lose worse of both worlds result.

-Even if a Switch port runs better, there is virtually nothing to do in TCB that isn't done better in the main game anyway. Well ok, TCB did have more bosses but that alone doesn't salvage a game that otherwise is at best completely redundant.

Here, just watch the cutscenes & get the relevant story bits. I just saved you 10 soul-crushing hours.

Sounds like you can at least use high resolution after modifying the INI file and people are finding performance fine on decent cards

Had problems with options failing to apply. To work around this I manually edited files located @C:\Users\XXXX\AppData\Roaming\Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment\LEGO City Undercover. "pcconfig.txt" had more settings then available in-game, not sure if they all function but it's worth playing around. No problems with performance, frame rate above 60fps@1080p (150fps+ 970/3770k). 4k and high refresh rate monitors are supported. Inital load times were a bit slow, thankfully missions are based mostly in open world, very few load screens once started.

Also... where is the OT of this game?

I just finished the OT for Graceful Explosion Machine and that's going up tomorrow.

Honestly anyone can make an OT so if you're wondering where it is, and you see it's unclaimed, just make it. It's easier than you might think.

Dang really?

Bought off cd keys for $15 and installing now. Let's see.

Is this a fully legit site? How can a brand new $40 game be $15?

edit - well found thread of site on gaf so looks ok. bought and downloaded. woman's voice speaking the verification code made me laugh

Hey, anyone considering the Switch version concerned about loading times shouldn't be. I know I said earlier I wouldn't buy this but I broke down and got it from the eShop. I'm glad I did, because the loading times to load up a file or start a new one are only around 35 seconds. At least when installed to system memory. That's far less than the 70 or 80 seconds on Wii U. Game looks great too, some frame rate problems but nothing terrible.

I don't know if anyone else can confirm this. But I'm uploading a video now.

I ended up getting the PC version and I just tried it from a SSD. The initial loading is 16 seconds. Getting 190 FPS at 1440p with a 1070 and a 6700k at 4.5 GHz.

Here's the video of the Switch loading times I just took. As you can see, the loading starts about 10 seconds in, finishes around 45 seconds. So about 35 seconds total. Is it possible that day one update improved the loading times this much?

Pardon the messy setup, we just moved.
Seems like it, a previous video was around 50.

Nice to hear, thanks. Switch version is tempting but i'll probably end up buying it on PC.

Guess I need to post this again since there are some people who seem to have already forgotten after 2 page. Wow, how the mind slips!

English is not my main language, is not easy for me to make an OT... Going to try some day.

So you're running it from system memory. It seems that the physical version is slower running from cart then. Interesting.
