Ok, that made me chuckle :p
Honestly surprised Smash 3DS isn't higher... wasn't it higher a few weeks ago? And funny Bravely Second is just behind Zestiria, even though we know nothing about it all (other than a couple tidbit from interviews). Not bad from such a recent new IP, especially since we haven't heard anything about it for a looooong while now.

But yeah, Famitsu Most Wanted list is even more ludicrous than the actual reviews. So not representative of the market as a whole... or even of "gamers" in general.

Still, just like Comgnet preorder data, it's still interesting to check.

Remind me, esutero isn't official right?

I'm preparing to lock this thread but want to make sure I'm correct here: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=828448

It's a Japanese aggregator news blog. There's no original content, so it's not the source. That blog post in question is simply a collection of early reports from various game shop blogs, including the one Chris already talked about. It's an estimate from that shop owner himself, that it's selling at a 50-60% sell through rate, and that it COULD sell about 400k in the first week. That's an opinion, not a tracked fact.

wrowa interprets it's a 400k shipment and you say they say a possible 400k FW. I'll go with you. :p Can't help but be confused.

Looks like next week Media Create thread will be interesting.

I'm more interested on the hardware bump, though.

So simple and yet so difficult

First day sellthrough

MK8 50~60% - Maybe it will sell 400k first week.
Gundam 50%
Arcana Heart 3 ??
Noire 60%

For last time:

That blog has access to full data subscription, the exact tracker is unknown but it's supposed to be Media Create. If Media Create subscriptions are close to Enterbrain's system it means the (much more expensive) full subsrtiption gives among many others first day sales, first day shipments and early Monday preview. It's likely they also give a very early Friday preview based on first day sales but even if that is not true and the 400k is completely an estimate from the blog it's a vey good and not lucky estimate. I remember similar first week estimates for at least 3 games: W101, SMTIV, AA5 and all of them were correct.

Yes, it's how I understood it (and also why I was confused by the latest posts) and from this we know the shipment should be more than those 400K FW sales estimates/educated prediction.

Monster Strike [gameplay video] has begun to challenge Puzzle & Dragons' dominance of the iOS and Android top grossing app charts.

The game has steadily risen in the charts over a long period of time and is now very consistently at #2 on the charts, sometimes even temporarily overtake Puzzle & Dragons, which is an incredibly rare event.

Mixi used to be Japan's #1 social network, eventually falling to Facebook/Twitter/Line, and now has attained newfound relevance through this game, having their market cap soar past $2 billion and overtake DeNA (Mobage).

The game is about flinging monsters (that are kind of like pool balls) into other monsters to defeat them, along with the standard plethora of Japanese social game systems based on cards, fusion, special events, gatcha, etc.

You can also play the game game in up to four player multiplayer. If you're in solo mode, one person controls all four pins, in two player each player gets two pins, and in four player each person gets one pin. This mode currently only works via bluetooth (locally).

This post has an incomplete breakdown of how it works, but I couldn't really find a much better one in English as the game is only out in Japan: http://puzzleanddragonsforum.com/showthread.php?tid=33705

The game has recently launched in Taiwan to top 10 grossing success and will soon be coming to China via Tencent. I'm unsure if it is planned for Western release.

To tie this to the more popular dedicated game discussion, if you were looking for a game that could be converted to 3DS and sell 1+ million copies, this one is a pretty safe bet.

Some screenshots since I suspect most are unfamiliar with the game:

If we were to see more mobile spinoffs on 3DS, when do you think we'd hear about them? Would it be at some big tradeshow or would we just hear about them here and there?

Folks over there just needs to let this game go lol.

PS4 port will obviously single handedly boost PS4 sales in Japan...

Ha I still can't believe it gets so many votes. It's been how many years now?

I would kind of expect it to happen arbitrarily in Famitsu or maybe in a Nintendo Direct.

The effect of Monster Strike on Mixi's financials

Basically Dragon Strike made $300m USD revenue last Q alone (1200% growth QoQ). This mean it was making an average 3.3m USD revenue per day. Insane.

Maybe The Last Remnant for PS3 is the Japanese equivalent of Battletoads.

Famitsu says first week sales were 3200 units on DS, with no updated LTD. It probably didn't chart in MC's public data.

Gungho even gave out free stone to PAD players for falling to #2 which I thought it's kind of funny. :)
