Can we get a consistent name for #FE in these charts? Because tagging it as sometimes SMTXFE, sometimes #FE, and sometimes Genei Ibunroku FE between every new thread is gonna be seriously annoying when looking it up in archives.

Just rename it to CrossBomba everywhere

Thats one reason why i'm wondering how a 3DS version would do today. Think it would give some indication if people are still very interested in the franchise or not.

A third entry would of course sell less than the first entry, but can still put great numbers, around 250-300k, so flat with respect to the second entry. Nothing scary as <100k.

you'll get a consistent name once NoA/NoE announces what they're calling it

Why bother, it's not like it's gonna show up in charts ever again at this rate.

Good, our bet is now void! :p

tumblr_n6icg6b46d1rp0vkjo1_500.gif

I made an avatar bet with Ryng_Tolu, if Splatoon sells more than 4 million by the end of Q3 next year, he wins, if it's less than 4 million, I win.

You guys are the witnesses.

The avatar needs to be up for three entire months.

Ryng Tolu, (RED RING) never forget an avatar bet. :)

The trackers essentially agree on Nintendo hardware, but Sony is quite over the place. Same with Monster Strike. Either way though, they're not shifting all those copies at full price. Next week as usual will be a brutal drop for everyone.

I think this plea comes too late

Isn't DQXI and FF7R scheduled for 2016 too?

SE betting everything on PS4.

FF7R is not. DQXI is just confirmed for this fiscal year iirc (which ends march 2017), but since this year is DQ's 30th Anniversary they probably aim for 2016.

FFXV in summer and DQXI at the end of 2016 could be possible, but I still wouldn't bet on it.

And so concludes the worst year in hardware in a long, long time.

The New Years boost for the PS consoles is nice as always (though lower than I expected since it wasn't much of a jump anywhere), higher than last year, though Vita has started acting like a Nintendo platform with its figures. Everything is going to start tumbling down next week.

Looking at the numbers, WiiU and PS4 are up YoY the roughly same amount over Week 1, 2015 last year. Neat little factoid, though surprised the WiiU didn't collapse harder come the end of the Christmas holiday.

WEEK 1, 2015 (Dec 29 - Jan 04):
PS4: 42.216
WiiU: 30.031

WEEK 53, 2015 (Dec 28 - Jan 03):
PS4: 65.427
WiiU: 53.547

100% YoY growth, impressive.

Last year this was Week 1 of 2015 by calendar days (which is important for when the usual boost occurs). That was 42.216.

Minecraft pretty much the only thing Vita can claim made a real difference in its lifetime of shitty holiday sales. With a rather strong lineup in 2016 I think I can see the device moving past my 5.5 million LTD figure, I think it will end its life somewhere around 6 million sold

I suppose digital only games are excluded, then.

Eh, some of those placements really go against Famitsu's monthly numbers. Especially Picross 3D 2 > Dragon Quest VIII.

There's a separate list for them.

The only question I have is how they count Fire Emblem if (whether the ¥2,000 2nd and 3rd versions are counted as an additional purchase)

Is it possible to have some sales range? For example, DQVIII should be above 34k (first month sales).

I'd like to use those ranges, but then you see Picross 3D 2 higher than DQVIII, despite its digital sales being around 8k as of November 1st, going by Famitsu. Also, Famitsu consider direct downloads from the eShop as digital, with sales through download cards tracked among retail sales.

Wow at Odin Sphere's MSRP.

That FE game dropped out of the charts even faster than the Animal Crossing amiibo game. That's just sad.

It's going to be Splatoon and Mario Maker carrying the Wii U from here on out. It will get bumps from Star Fox and Pokken, but for the most part, the heavy lifting will be done by the workhorses.

I'm blown away by #FE completely bombing. I didn't think it would set the world on fire, but I never would have guessed it would be that low.

How is the game reviewing in Japan? Is it even supposed to be any good?

The first Taiko on Vita shouldn't sell about half of what the first Wii U Taiko sold, especially considering Minecraft made the platform attractive to kids.

MHX continues to do well. Monster Strike is doing alright thus far although it's going to have trouble hitting 1M.

Minecraft and the Vita is still crazy. Apart from God Eater Resurrection, did anything on Vita get much over 100K this year?

Players impressions are really great for the gameplay, no idea for official reviewers. Idol stuff is personal preferences I guess.

I wouldn't say really great, the gameplay's good but marred but by load times, and the story's too light.

I wouldn't say they're aren't bad reviews but more positive with some big flaws that can ruin the game.

I know post-shaming people is frowned upon here, and rightfully so, but I wonder if Ryng_Tolu / Red Ring has a bookmark list full of the posts that kept calling them flat out crazy for predicting a 1.5 million LTD for Splatoon in Japan - and they look at them every now and then to have a good laugh. Didn't someone bet Persona 5 will easily outsell it this year back in summer? Ha.

With at least 200 000 digital copies confirmed this seems like a conservative guess now, that would only not come true if they announce NX and Spla2n next week and release it the week after with a free copy of the original - I don't see any other scenario in where this game will stop selling any time soon.

Even if the numbers drop when support stops at the end of this month, 1.5 million including digital is a lock at this point.

God Eater 2: Rage Burst was by far the biggest non-Minecraft game this year. Feels like it released a long time ago though, huh?

I think Sword Art Online: Lost Song sold about the same as GER.

Otherwise, a few things snuck past 100k - Super Robot Wars; Digimon; Persona; Tokyo Xanadu etc.

03./05. [WIU] Splatoon # <ACT> (Nintendo) {2015.05.28} (¥6.156) - 60.447 / 1.153.989 (-36%)

20./23. [3DS] Mario Kart 7 <RCE> (Nintendo) {2011.12.01} (¥4.800) - 8.122 / 2.589.230

All those long legs. Splatoon doesn't even care if it's bundle sold out.
Good hardware numbers for Sony. Expected drop for nintendo hardware but not too bad. Wii-U now at 3 million
Poor #FE . No second week love either as expected

I'm blown away by #FE completely bombing. I didn't think it would set the world on fire, but I never would have guessed it would be that low.

How is the game reviewing in Japan? Is it even supposed to be any good?

Hey man it's got a lower second week drop than Fire Emblem Fates, Xenoblade Chronicles X, and Bayonetta 2, it's well on its way
pffffft lmao I can't even finish this, especially because this week has New Year's Day in it

speaking of Fire Emblem Fates, its last update prior to the end of year numbers:

Famitsu Sales: Week 37, 2015 (Sep 07 - Sep 13)
23./24. [3DS] Fire Emblem Fates: Birthright / Conquest # <SLG> (Nintendo) {2015.06.25} (¥5.076) - 1.634 / 529.231 <80-100%> (-25%)

then 15 weeks later we have:
10./00. [3DS] Fire Emblem Fates: Birthright / Conquest # <SLG> (Nintendo) {2015.06.25} (¥5.076) - 538.669 / NEW

so from Weeks 38-52, it sold 9438 units, yet another case of Japan being super frontloaded compared to the rest of the world (keep this in mind for Xenoblade Chronicles X as well as Fire Emblem Fates itself...)

That's somewhat of a big difference between trackers for Vita. Though, I'll always put my faith in the hashtagSuperiorTracker. ;)

Hmmm, one more week and I'll decide on the likelihood of Splatoon making it to 2 Million LTD Japan. :p

To this talking about #FE's name, even NoA named the most recent E3 video "Genei Ibun Roku #FE", not even they are calling it SMTxFE.

This is precisely why I'm surprised about Taiko, a milked to the death rythm franchise, being a dreadful performance with a 100K. Reaching that milestone on Vita seems quite an accomplishment to me.

Even after 4 years, I don't think there are so much publishers who can seriously say they are disappointed when their game reach 100K on Vita in Japan. Especially when that same franchise is putting a 50K right now on a family friendly platform.

I've done all the 3DS eShop top 25s at post 173.

Digital bomber of the year is Touch Battle Tank 3D-3. It well and truly tanked (sorry, couldn't resist).

Well, that would put it into 630 copies per week. Not that bad. If xenoblade did something like that, we would have: 125k for retail copies and almost 150k in general.

It's a game that serves (almost) no one. It's not for SMT fans, not for FE fans, and apparently not even for Persona fans. And it's on WiiU to boot. The game was always going to crater, and it's bad because it doesn't seem like a budget title.

I changed the Y-O-Y for the 53-week years since it wasn't proper. Week 52 and 53 of 2015 for example were compared both with week 52 of 2014. Now the comparison will be with what was sold 52 weeks ago.
