New Dragon's Dogma Online information

http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/684236-dragons-dogma-dark-arisen/71218440
Just some stuff from the developer team interview in Dengeki PlayStation:

- no voice chat

- you can swap vocations at any time

- All the gear and equipment in DD/DA are present in the game, along with a lot more new stuff - more than 1,000 pieces in total; you can also craft new gear with materials

- players can log in and switch between multiple servers
- players can create multiple characters in a single account
- on PC specs; obviously players with high-spec PCs will be able to enjoy better graphics, but basically if you’re running a decent 3-year-old PC that met the recommended requirements of most games then you’d likely be all right
- the game design is catered towards long-term continual play; there are levelling dungeons and areas, item-based hunts/quests, as well as random/limited quests/events that pop up when viewing notices in the lobby
- can form parties with pawns or other players; like in DD/DA, the pawns are AI-controlled, but you can easily ask another player to join in
- there will be three expansions to the game
- DDON is not linked with DD/DA storyline
- while the Dragon was an antagonist in DD, it is not so in DDON as the players will take up the role of Arisen who are protecting the White Dragon
- yes you still get a main pawn
- the pawn-Arisen relationship is still in the game; you can dress up your pawn, equip your pawn with poor armour/decent weapon etc.
- Fighter = short-range attacker, Hunter = long-range attacker, Priest = healing and recovery, Shield Sage = tank
- in-game party of a maximum of four members; you can play with pawns or other Arisen (mix and match pawn-Arisen combination as you like), or even play solo
- you can still rent out and hire pawns, this feature is still retained from DD
- character generator is also like DD/DA’s customisation system, but with more additions; make handsome guys, cute girls, whatever you fancy
- pawns can also craft gear; think of hiring and renting out pawns that specialise in crafting
- armour system is maintained (the clothing and armour layers) with the added fun of customisation!!!!
- the skill system from DD/DA is retained; need to purchase new skills with discipline points
- no, there is no Ur-Dragon-like boss
- but there are raids with eight players!
- more vocations to be added in the future; rather than base and hybrid vocations, let’s just say that there’s a wider range of vocations compared to previously
- you can even get the NPC armour like Iris’ and Leo’s
- emotes and clans will be introduced
- the team is confident that if you’ve enjoyed DD/DA then you will enjoy DDON

Looks super rough and last-gen.

All encounters are tailored to PS3. Enemy designs, environment and count have to be the same across platforms so that PS3 256Mbx2 is the line that cannot be crossed. Of course PC will have better looking stuff, just nothing that's not in the PS3 version like weather and number of enemies on screen all limited to PS3 to keep the experience the same across platforms.

For example it is unlikely you will see an encounter with 2 wiverns 2 drakes and death + mobs in the PC version but not in the PS3 version even though a regular 2015 PC is perfectly capable to handle it at medium settings. Which is a shame.

That info makes me much more hopeful about the game. That info makes it sound the overall set up of the game is close to Dragon's Dogma 1. And Dragon's Dogma 1 + coop sounds like a fine concept to me.

That's probably also why they're going with an F2P model - or, well, at least, that's what I'm hoping. It'd be hard to convince people to pay another $60 for more or less the same content as the original game, now with multiplayer.

Though it does raise questions about how they WILL go about monetizing aspects of the game. A stamina system doesn't seem likely, although who knows?

I guess they can try event based business model with this, you want in the raid? pay entry fee. I hope they're not locking story events though.

Sounds amazing. The 8 player raids are going to be very interesting with a group of players climbing onto a dragon and going to town. They'd have to balance it so that you can't cheese bosses this way.

Still no mention of the stat growth though. Is it based on vocation levels now?

Monetize lamp oil.

Sounds pretty fun. I'll jump in on pc if this is on steam. Dragon's Dogma was an amazing game with horrible performance. If they fix the performance issues I could see this being really cool. Is the game letterboxed?

I used to think that was a valid point, until I played FF14. Playing on PC, I can't tell any limitations to being a cross-play game.

Hope this gets a western release. I loved DD and always wanted a PC port and if this basically takes the DD gameplay and puts it online I'll be happy. I just hope there is plenty of cool monster fights and jumping on the backs of things in a big open world instead of a lot of smaller instance based things.

Sounds amazing, the only thing that could keep this from being great is Capcom.

Please don't screw this up, Capcom.

No voice chat? Why?
You're probably going to be restricted to chat by saying that "wolves hunts in packs", "strength in numbers, arisen" and "they're masterworks all, you can't go wrong".

"There master, snow harpies!" will be DLC.

I know which one I'm spamming! :D

No voice chat is literally the dumbest.

That being said, everything else about this sounds great. I'll give this a try.

No voice chat isn't a downer since all platforms where this comes form have some sort of integrated voice chat system. I wasn't gonna chat with anyone else but my friends so.

PS4 party chat. You don't need in game chat.

Yep. Sadly, PS3 is going to be left in the dust with this, but I'm sure the majority of players will be with the PC and PS4. Skype (or whatever) for PC and party chat for PS4. Simple. But it's sounding pretty good :).

Why is there no voice chat if their are raids in this game? Literally makes no sense. Besides that, this sounds really good.

I wonder if they could make you pay full normal retail price for an add on that sort of files away the F2P aspects? IE leveling is faster, if there's a stamina system it's dead, etc. But that's always been kind of a pipe dream it seems and likely isn't the most lucrative so the only hope is the backlash to that stuff actually gets bad enough that it affects profitability.

This does seem to indicate to me though that this is less "this is the path we want for Dragon's Dogma" and more "we're doing a quick recycle job for extra cash from this and the door MAY be open for a proper sequel." I'd like to see a proper move to the next generation rather than something with a grander scope like that keeping itself tied to now ancient hardware.

As long as i can party chat i'll be fine.

Just add in some simple commands to coordinate randows and pawns and it'll be good

Very happy to hear that the Pawns are returning. That was such a great feature, and it'll be even better in an online world.

I've done a total 180 on this game. I was super pissed it was a f2p online game, but now I'm totally on board. This sounds incredibly ambitious.

Man everything about this game looks so C tier. Janky animations and combat, poor art style and visuals etc.. How difficult is it to make some polished RPG's these days.

This sounds pretty much perfect. Well, I'd rather pay $60 up front than deal with a F2P scheme...so almost perfect. But, I really hope this comes to the U.S. I can see myself destroying a lot of time playing DDO

They already confirm no stamina system in a previous interview.

My guess is they'll monetize the crafting system like warframe.

Other than the PS3 thing it sounds amazing. The gameplay for long time could of course be a problem, if it is to much of a grind, but i don't think it will be as bad as other mmo for the simple fact that the combat system is so much fun (unlike pretty much every mmo)

Bring this to the west Capcom!!

Pleeeeeeeeeeease
