It's in the One Game.
Beaten. By a long measure.
It's in the One Game.
If EA's input is anything like it was for the Wii and the beginning of the Wii U then I don't even want to see it come to fruition. I'm still mad about that Mass Effect bullshit and the stupid big head super deformed Maddens that the Wii got. If EA is just going to continually shit on Nintendo fans then I'd rather them not support Nintendo.
All Nintendo needs to secure is Madden, FIFA, Battlefront, Battlefield and Mass Effect. Did I miss anything else that is truly needed on NX?
Nintendo's first-party sports games (Ken Griffey MLB, Kobe Bryant NBA) instantly outsold any EA sports games though.
Source is bologna.. yes BALAGNA

That's normal They make versions for legacy platforms until literally no one is buying them and do you think the PS3 versions are all that different anymore or the PS2 games they made until a year ago.
Because MS has spent years building an audience for those games. Nintendo hasn't so yeah, they're going to have to buy themselves out of their current situation in order to convince both consumers and publishers to buy in.
Gotta be honest, this reports reads like a badly written rumor.
Not that I don't believe that EA and Nintendo are having meetings, of course.
According to sources within EA, this is actually seen as something of an insult, and the company will be asking Nintendo to consider shipping NX consoles with leading EA Sports titles, such as FIFA and Madden
This part in particular made me laugh.
I'll be happy to be disproved of course, and to see if this actually means anything.
Personally I'm inclined to think it wasn't origin that caused the breakdown, I reckon it was because Nintendo were allowing used games, we know MS were going to block them before the 180 and rumours back then suggested Sony would too
Yes, but that wasn't what really pushed the issue.
Once the announce hit, it took most people by surprise. Consumers weren't the only ones surprised by the conference and the policies. No real prep was done with retail or 3rd parties (I'm sure some people knew, but it took most people by surprise). What happened next was quite amazing. Flurries of phone calls, meetings, all around how the heck to set up these used game activation codes and policies. Basic questions like who was responsible for getting used game sellers the activation codes their customers would need to activate used games, how would pubs set up the back end support to track all these codes, what costs would be involved and who would pay for things like printing...
And the position of the biggest used games retailer basically was "give us free codes for our customers or we're not buying your products." So then what can you do? If you give the biggest retailer free activation codes for your used products or they don't carry your product then you have to give free activation codes to all used retailers. Problem is, someone had to pay for the codes, which were going to basically cost a reduced royalty fee. Who was going to do that? Were publishers now going to pay $5 to MS every time a customer bought a used game at the world's biggest retailer of used games product? How would those codes be tracked? Would each game now need a SKU specifically for used game activation codes?
The whole idea was cursed from jump street. It was never going to fly. No one thought through the actual implementation of the idea. How it would actually work at store level. I mean, it's shocking that the reveal went out the way it did in that so little homework was done to make sure the whole idea was workable to begin with.
All the preorders and the consumer sentiment? That was just icing.

For what it's worth, the above poster's source finally checked out. Do with that as you will.EA I do believe had dev kits since late last year but that was only a rumor. They were talking about NX development interest around the same time the WSJ article was posted.
That would be a good point if Nintendo kept making these games...Nintendo's first-party sports games (Ken Griffey MLB, Kobe Bryant NBA) instantly outsold any EA sports games though.
I honestly think you should look at it the other way around. Nintendo needs EA sports more than EA needs Nintendo imo.
Calling a platform legacy when it had literally just launched at the time is a bit extreme. Wii U only got one Madden and one FIFA, and they were both basically at launch.
It's gonna be hard for Nintendo to win the sports femographic from Sony or Microsoft. The only advantage I see Nintendo could use to appeal to them are the different form factors of NX we've been speculating about (like being able to play Madden on a portable).

It almost instantly became a legacy platform for third party developers, especially ones like EA sports.

Thank you! You're the man bishoptl!
Usually if you're in an abusive relationship the best advice is to get out of it.
I dont know a singke rumor he said that wasnt wishy washy. See travy on the other hand is saying this is going to happen and here the source. Tamali is saying this is what probably happened, My source is unknownYep. Also, it's hard for me to picture a world where tons of people are interested in getting an NX and they see Madden and don't also own another system where they're going to be drawn to pick it up on and all their friends are playing it there instead....
Tamaki? I thought he had cred. Why are you likening him to lunchmeat?
Diehard Nintendo fans really are Nintendo's worst enemy. I mean the whole fuck EA we don't need them mentality is why Nintendo is in the position they are.
I also remember EA had Wii U dev kits...
EA dropped Wii U faster than Jeb Bush dropped his campaign.
"You have to do more to cultivate a sports audience on your platform."
"Okay, then how about doing that with EA Sports titles?"
"No, you have to cultivate the audience for sports titles without having our sports titles."
I get that they're asking them to spend on advertising during sporting events, I just found it funny.
Also, the idea that EA is "insulted" that Nintendo won't bundle their software is hilarious. When has EA given them a title worth bundling in the last, say, decade?

Some diehard nintendo simply dont give one damn and just buy on another console. Nobody care that much to be stressin if a game comin every yearDiehard Nintendo fans really are Nintendo's worst enemy. I mean the whole fuck EA we don't need them mentality is why Nintendo is in the position they are.
Nintendo needs to play nicer with the 3rd parties and the 3rd parties playing nice with them will happen . It is all about MONEY and Third Parties want to make more of it. If giving some EA titles a little extra attention means getting serious support its worth it even if the title isn't something you diehard gives a shit about.
Wii U was a fucking disaster from the day they reset the Wii HD development and decided Wii in HD wasn't a gimmick enough and chased the tablet. Regardless how delusional diehards are Nintendo cannot survive multiple Wii Us and have a future. Wii U took a nice chunk out of that precious warchest and more Wii Us will empty it completely.

Because Nintendo went back on the initial specs given to devs.

C'mon EA, let's see NBA Jam and NFL Blitz 2017. That would be what fit most in my memories of sports gaming on Nintendo consoles.
