But wait, will I not be able to experience the new content if I don't restart then?
You will experience the new things fine on your current save.

It's £15 on Humble Bundle for PC, and it's £9 on UK Playstation Network.
If you are from US is it on the summer sale on psn? Otherwise the UK and EU psn store have it on sale as of now wich should be like 13-17 bucks or so if you convert the money to dollars.

Yes, everything works on current save. You even keep bases etc (it says in the patch note).
Since the main story is completely redone with branching paths, some players may want to start again.
This is basically NMS II
It is showing as $24 on the US store for me
Is it already out?
Insane update. Good for Hello Games. They already have my money as I bought the game on PS4 and ended up ultimately disappointed, but I'm willing to give it another try.
Yep. Why they called this "version 1.3" I don't know. Well, I guess they were tired of the backlashes.
So, in joint exploration the other people are these blue orbs thing? weird
EDIT
This is basically NMS II
Jesus Christ!I hope everyone enjoys the update and I'm glad they're adding features but these patch notes still don't put them anywhere near the type of game that was described and hyped pre release. I hope everyone enjoys the game but let's not forget history

I think because Version 2.0 will cost £$£$, and that this patch has been given a significant amount of push to act as punctuation for the free release stuff.
Personally, I think they are at a point where costed DLC is fine but even looking inside this thread, I would see that being a delicate thing to ask for.
-Replaced all terrain textures with higher detail and quality variants
wow, incredible update
I just looked at the old old "this is missing from NMS" chatter and it looks like it is all there bar for stuff that was eventually ditched for gameplay perspective reasons (i.e. moving planets, star to star flight), which seems fair enough.
Guess there's no sale on it in the US at the moment :/
EDIT: It's a sale though. 60 bucks normally, now 24.
Oh yeah, good point that's not there.
But yep, they're on record saying it's not there because it confused and irritated players (turns out your plannet spinning away from your ultimate destination is annoying AF).

I guess it really is a who cares. What is $5 bucks anyways.
PS4 NMS + 1 here.
Hmm with the co-op, i wonder if each person making changes to the terrain will be taken into account?
Re this image - they have a note on their website saying you need to use the Terrain Editor attachment to DIG OUT the space station to get the loot. Haha.

Reminds me of Ultima OnlineOh yeah, good point that's not there.

An artificial life engine was supposed to be implemented into the game. A preview announced that ecological events in the game would affect animal behavior, potentially creating new adventure possibilities in an organic manner. However, this feature never made it beyond the game's beta stage. Richard Garriott explained:
"We thought it was fantastic. We'd spent an enormous amount of time and effort on it. But what happened was all the players went in and just killed everything; so fast that the game couldn't spawn them fast enough to make the simulation even begin. And so, this thing that we'd spent all this time on, literally no-one ever noticed ever and we eventually just ripped it out of the game, you know, with some sadness."
yeah i noticed that too. pretty cool.Re this image - they have a note on their website saying you need to use the Terrain Editor attachment to DIG OUT the space station to get the loot. Haha.

Oh but don't worry, I'm sure the pitfork wielding masses will find new excuses to whine and vomit all over Hello Games.
Very impressive! I suppose it'd be smart to restart the game? Or is it even mandatory?
