Well, cartoon children and real children. There seem to be a lot of eyepatch girls in anime (I'm seeing something called "kegadol" in Google but I don't feel like reading it right now) but I don't think that translates directly to being attracted to people with eye injuries in real life.

And sometimes I wonder if lolicon hentai doesn't stave off the desire for actual child porn from people who have that particular sexual interest and know they can't act on it in real life. But that's another topic entirely I guess.

As usual, when you go into drawing territory things get weird because someone can draw adults like the mangaka of Lucky Star while others draw 13 year olds that look like adults. In the end, drawings are not real life so I don't think one causes the other.

In the case of Marie Rose, there are girls out there that are 18 that look like her, so I don't see the problem. Koei has a right to not release their game and we shouldn't blame anyone else for not releasing the game in the west.

It's surprisingly ambiguous and needs more research. Based on past cases, we absolutely know that some loli fans are pedophiles (as in into real children), but we don't know if ALL of them are. Based on what we know so far, I'd say the links are pretty tenuous and not obvious.

It's not as obvious as you would think. Finding different things attractive in art compared to real life is pretty common. There's also a ton of other factors involved, but again, this is big tangent and a surefire way to get the thread locked (though that's going to happen either way).
