In what way? I don't think Sony will release games on PC day and date with PS5. Maybe 12 months later. AlsoJimbo is totally out of touch with gamers and games.
Allow me to elaborate:
PlayStation has no strategy..... it's run by a headless chicken who doesn't even game.
Strategy that you don't like =/= no strategy. And how do you know Jim Ryan doesn't game? Do you have a special view into his house to know what he does in his free time?
He has a streaming service he is trying to sell and then he decides to port games to PC, thus cannibalizing PSNow numbers.
How is it cannibalising anything? Care to provide me some figures that indicate that PC ports have caused a meaningful reduction of PSNow subscriptions? Care to explain how PC ports bare any significance to PSNow; a game streaming/subscription service? The two can co-exist.
They are also paying the competitor to host their streaming service..... hilariously dumb.
This belies such a fundamental lack of understanding of how business works its actually laughable. Microsoft Azure =/= Xbox. I'm not sure you noticed, but Sony sells their image sensors to other smartphone manufacturers and other camera manufacturers (e.g Nikon). Azure likely tendered a bid to PlayStation to act as a cloud host, alongside AWS, GCP, IBM or whomever. Azure apparently provided the best offer out of these competing service providers so Sony went with them.
This has nothing to do with fucking anything and just reads as sour grapes.
MSFT entered the console market as they saw Sony as a threat, porting games to PC makes zero sense.
Why? Because you don't like it? They're getting extra sales from games which are essentially EOL on PlayStation hardware, with minimal investment. From a business perspective it makes perfect sense, and will help finance future game development. Profitability will allow studios that produce high-budget, high quality games to keep making them.
Communication is terrible, SOP's are soulless, cold and clinical.
None of this makes a goddamn difference to anything. Are the games good? Yes? No? Most of the console gaming audience doesn't live on Neogaf and watch hours long trade show keynotes. They'll watch the youtube/TV ads and decide if they want to buy a game and then go and play it. Nintendo Directs, States of Play, whatever it is that Microsoft does are for a tiny minority of loud gobshite fanboys to war about on the internet. States of Play have been soulless and boring for years, but Sony's games still sell gangbusters - I wonder why that is?
Close to zero expansion of their first party studios, Housemarque was just to replace all they got rid of.
They just bury their head in the sand as MSFT and others acquire everything.
If Sony play the acquisition game they will lose every time, they have far less money to throw around than Microsoft do. Yes yes, they have however many billion in cash to fund things, but let me tell you right now they aren't going to blow all of their cash on acquiring studios for PlayStation. That money is for the whole of Sony. They likely will see a need to invest in improving imaging sensor production capacity (which if you know anything about silicon foundries, you'll understand is hilariously expensive). They'll want to invest into their TV division, their Music and Film divisions and so on and so forth. To put all their eggs in the PlayStation basket because some sad fucks on Neogaf are mad that they're not making billion dollar acquisitions to compete with Microsoft, would be such an stupid decision I would argue whomever signed off on it was out of their fucking mind.
In business you can't be too reactionary. That is not how you succeed. To stomp around and make acquisitions for no other reason than because Microsoft dropped $7 billion on Zenimax and several hundred million on a few other studios would be reactionary and is not likely to result in any immediate success. This kind of stuff takes time and planning and won't happen over the course of 8 months. How long, for instance do you think that Zenimax acquisition took Microsoft to finalise? Do you think Phil Spencer walked into Todd Howard's office with his dick and his Microsoft chequebook out and that's it? They will have been in talks for months, maybe even years.
Jim and co are tone-deaf and he blindly chases profits, games are now 80 euro for a base version in europe.....equal to nearly 100 dollars. He nickel and dimes everything he can and he doesn't even attempt to justify any of it.
Of course they're chasing profits. This is business. Games are expensive to make and Sony are charging people the money they think they need to charge to sustain the business. You think Microsoft are making Gamepass as a charity to gamers? They're doing it to make money. If they ever see signs their competition is out of the picture, you can bet your ass Gamepass will see its prices rise and features hidden behind paywalls and segmentation of pricing tiers.
And at the very least Sony don't have the bollocks to stick 3 ROMs on a cartridge to run on a shitty emulator and then charge $60 for it.
What Sony is doing is by no means perfect and I certainly don't like the attitude they're taking in certain situations, but you're out here acting hysterical barely 9 months after the release of a console as though the PlayStation empire is crumbling right before your eyes. Well, no it isn't. PS5's are selling out everywhere and software sales are through the roof. The brand strength is untouchable even with some of the questionable decisions made in the recent past.
If you find that Sony's success is happening in way that you don't like, then don't fucking buy a PlayStation. Don't buy PlayStation games or products. Vote with your wallet.
Fucking Christ, the histrionics in this forum is diabolical.
