Persona 5 |OT2| Someone must have been helping you go to bed early. Talk!

I can see how people wouldn't dig the characters, art direction, OST, story etc. since that stuff is subjective. Personally I'm still loving it all after 76 hours but it is what it is. People who actually enjoy the gameplay of P3 and P4 more than 5 are straight up odd though. P5 is a vast improvement in every single way over Persona 3 and 4 in the gameplay department.
I prefer characters on P4 to P5 (no clubs social links is unfortunate). The other issue is that dungeons go on way too long and between that and sparse save rooms it gets annoying. Throw in terrible Stealth camera just for fun.

That said the combat is a ton better, the city and animations are far beyond P4, the amount of stuff to do is also pretty great.

Late game boss question (December)

I'm having one hell of a time beating the unchained version of Shido. By that time I've already fought four stages of bosses and used up all my SP and healing items. Any ideas? What do I do at that point? There are no reliable places in the Tokyo to stock SP AFAIK. Just those tiny little SP drinks that are only good early-to-mid in P5.

Man I've enjoyed all of the dungeons, except for the card key thing in the Fifth.

And it took me eight hours to totally finish the sixth. I just spread out the game time over multiple days. Still finished it in the shortest amount of game time possible.

The dungeon gameplay aspect of the game is actually fun this time, unlike in 3 and 4. Which is good, because it's not solely a time management visual novel title.

eight not right
Auto
Correct
please

oof if you can't tolerate dungeon 4 then worst is yet to come lol.
next one is even worse imo.

IIRC the Persona Isis is immunue to Light and Curse attacks which handles the OHKO complaint. I enjoyed that palace.

Make an Isis, she nulls both curse and bless.

Every time the game does something like that it's to tell you you shouldn't be slacking on your persona fusions.

Actually, that Persona Anubis. Fuck it in the arse. It's that one enemy that is ruining this dungeon. I realise it's not the dungeon I don't like. The layout is fine and a dungeon that should be enjoyable is being ruined but this one enemy, it just stops the enjoyment. I have an Isis Persona now but it still a pain with this weird spawn glitch when your running for the treasure.

That's another thing as well, when going for the treasure with all the sirens going off (and that hype music) why when you defeat an enemy, does it instantly spawn another in it's place?

December question

If I send out the calling card as soon as I can, do I still get to spend the remaining days socialising or does it fast forward to the election date?

Haru

Psiodyne
Mapsiodyne
One Shot Kill
Snipe
Heat Riser
Psy Boost
Psy Amp
Evade Nuke

Criticize away! I'm not sure about the Severe spells except Blazing Hell. I am wondering if the dyne versions can do the job for less SP.
Snipe+Cripple seems better than the two Psy boost passives IMO. Those two plus One Shot Kill lets her deal insane damage with chance to crit. I also kept Amrita Shower on her in place of Mapsiodyne. Useful considering how many things cause status ailments and I used Makoto as my primary healer.

I could definitely take Heat Riser out for Cripple. In fact I think I'll do just that. Amrita Shower is fantastic too, but I really want Mapsiodyne on her...decisions....

On the other hand, there are a lot of people who try to downplay the gross parts of these games to convince themselves that no one should care, because I guess they're terrified of accepting that the games have huge problems with their writing, or of being judged for liking games that have bad parts or something.

This is a way bigger issue IMO. People disliking a game is normal, downplaying and helping perpetuate shitty sexism and homophobia in a game about rebelling about an unjust society is fucking gross, and I say this while considering P5 one of my favorite games ever.

I'm just going to second this.

My relationship with Persona is like 90% love and 10% loathing + wishing certain parts of the games would just grow up already.

I took Psiodyne out for Cripple. Against a single target, One Shot Kill is almost always better than Psiodyne and Mapsiodyne is useful against multiple opponents.

It's honestly a huge bummer that the shitty parts of the game are enough to turn people away from P5, because when taken as an entire start-to-finish package, it's one of the most radically progressive and political games I've ever seen out of Japan.

So late game with max social stats and no slinks to do what actitives are worth doing at night? Yeah I can hang out with gfs but it would seem that reading is the only real productive thing I have left and thats only for trophy stuff.

Now I'm not sure anymore. Dammit. Heat Riser is great but at the same time, you can mimic it's effects pretty well via other spells...Hmmm.

Heat Riser is great if you want Ryuji to start is second turn doing massive damage against a boss, especially after he gets Charge. Atk/Acc/Def up, Charge, Colossal Damage attack. Even better if Haru goes first in combat order and Ryuji goes last to up decrease boss def before he unloads. The only thing I wish this did have was the ability to give teammates Charge/Concentrate outside of
hoping that Futaba's ability goes off.

I like Heat Riser a lot on her, especially since I use Debilitate with the MC. You could probably get away with dropping it though. I used Ryuji in my party and Matarukaja and Debilitate was a good enough combo for me most of the time. She's just a character you have to make sacrifices with somewhere in regards to her skillset and focus on something. I just think Snipe+Cripple+One Shot Kill is pretty much necessary to her.

Same. I adored this game but those parts could have been cut no problem. One can only hope they don't repeat this bullshit in the next game but, after three games in a row, it's kind of hard to imagine it unfortunately. It's frustrating and disappointing.

Is there a way to do the laundry without using up an afternoon or evening?

I have temperance at the rank where she will do the laundry for me but I think that will still take up an evening right?

It doesn't. Go to the washing machines, set the items and she'll come and wash stuff for you. Free of time charge.

Yeah same. It sucks, I was having fun from the beginning but for example, I was dreading the moment we'd go to the beach for obvious reasons and it's super disappointing to see I was right.

Honestly if I weren't already long time fan, there's no way in hell I'd get this game or any other modern Persona game, so I can definitely sympathize with people deciding to skip it.

I'd heard the rumblings about palace 5 but man, that one just kept on going.
Why? why did the characters lie to me and be like "yeah the treasure is just past that door" on what felt like multiple (okay, just two maybe) occasions?
Now I've got them being like "yeah mementos must be done in the next few floors", I ain't falling for that again!

Anywho, that was probably my least favourite stretch of content so far, the pre palace DRAMA felt really forced, latest party member comes across as disappointingly flavourless so far (a shame as I love the design) and of course the palace itself felt like a few good ideas stretched out to the point of just being tired, the last little puzzle in particular I would've appreciated more for feeling like an actual puzzle if I wasn't just deflated by that point.
In any case, I assume the battle gameplay gimmick of that place was "drain your SP supplies".

They really need to just eject people from dungeons in future installments. 5 and 7 were two of my favorites and it's likely due, at least in part, to the fact that I was perfectly fine breaking them up over multiple days and not trying to do them in one go.

I got that fact just moments before you fuse the twins together. I was like...Igor might not actually be Igor?

In fact if you start ng+ right after learning who Igor really is a lot of the stuff he tells show that he was really evil since the beggining guiding Joker into his personal goal. And that same speach have another side if you dont realize that. Igor was really well written.

Hey now, I didn't do it in one go!
...I did it in two

Actually you mention this idea and the museum did exactly that.

What's with Ryuji during December? I'm trying to max as many SLs as possible but he's never available and I already only have 9 days till the next deadline.

The demons that you can buy on the PSN store, can you fuse them or do you have to buy them?

And why are the costumes so expensive, jesus

You can retrieve them from the compendium for free once, then they'll have a price like others. You can fuse them too, they work like any other.

What I meant is that is it possible to fuse them without buying them on the store? Could I fuse let's say Jack Frost with Pixie to get one of them? Or am I forced to buy them. Because they look sooooo coool

If I recall, he's not available in December until after you send the calling card.

Huh...
It's only him then, right?
Because I've been able to meet up with everyone else... Oh well.

Ah sorry, nope, they're not present in the game unless you buy them as DLC.

Just beat it.

103 hours. Almost every Confidant maxed but I messed up somewhere. I'll need to do a perfect run.

Ugh that whole ending, man. Stellar stuff. I really do appreciate the crew. That includes
Coffee Dad
.

I feel the boss was made purposely easy with the amount of story scenes going on during it.

I felt that was the hardest boss in the game, seriously. Killed me half a dozen times easily. Thank God there was a
checkpoint between phases.

Tried to do the mementos shadow for the fortune confidant.
The fucker constantly brainwashes the entire party and then gets additional turns. This guy is easily twice as hard as anything in the game so far, and he's on a floor that usually has enemies 10+ levels below me.
So, what the actual fuck? Should I just show up alone with an immune persona and grind through his palace-boss amounts of hp or is there a better way?

Are people kidding when they say this game has a stronger opening? It's half expository BS that really doesn't add anything to the game, and I don't get to go to school and it's been 2 hours.

The flash forward doesn't add anything other than the woman asking me some blank question for what feels like no reason. There's been train incidents? Just talk about that at the station, no need for three scenes just talking about it.

I dunno, they tried to make this more compelling without having aspects to make it compelling. It feels like fluff taking me away from the moment to moment calendar days. I actually enjoyed traversal so far through the city. Really impressed by the station navigation.
