I'll be honest, I'm bewildered by the whole thing. Maybe it's because I'm really active anyway, I walk, run, hike or climb almost every day and the only tech I like to have with me is for GPS, GLONASS and the like. I love the fact that I'm away from home stuff.
Im n't knocking it though, fair play to anybody who gets something out of it. It just makes no sense to me.

I had heard that they already do.
They'd have to be careful what they consider night and day. Wouldn't want kids in places they shouldn't be at night just because of a pokemon.

The value of a stock means nothing. What matters is relative to how % and what value the company is worth.
A stock can split and be half the price and it means nothing to the value of the company

Nintendo has had more money than they know what to do with for years.
They're not gonna use it either way, like in the past.
Basically this. It's new and exciting.

Well, this is not the first time GAF has been ignoring how more important Pokemon as a whole is for the company and their products.
Hell, people were FUMING when after the Zelda trailer they decided to show 1 hour of Pokemon Sun and Moon and they also kind of trashed the Pokemon Go presentation.
I will absolutely lose my shit if they do weather based appearances. Don't think that will work, though, on a technical level.

AR never once clicked for me. It's like "why do I care about shit that's..... not actually there....". To be fair, I never knew about ingress which would have likely done the same, but the fact that I never knew about ingress is also kind of the point.
VR = creating stationary environments that transport you to a different world
AR = taking the very world you live in and slightly transforming it into something else.
both are going to absolutely change how we look at video games, each in their own way.
they already have your location. It should be nothing to ping a weather service for current conditions in that location. seasons, weather, time of day, etc... should all be easily manageable in-game.

Omggg this is insane! I think some of us knew this was going to be big when they first announced it, but damn this game gave Nintendo a big Mega Evolution.
Numbers of shares between the two makes those number irrelevant. Apples and oranges.

If you want to really dwarf Pokemon GO's success though, just throw in Google and Youtube on the search terms and laugh as the little creatures try to duke it out with the big guns.

I don't think it would be doing anywhere close to as well if it was a more traditional Pokemon experience. The way the game works, coupled with it being Pokemon, is causing its boom.
I feel SM will do better than most Pokemon games in recent years because of Pokemon Go.

Apple and Google will probably make more off of having it on their app store than Nintendo.
Edit: It's a completely unrealistic rise in their share price. Could it be a great sign of things to come? You bet. Is 20% of the profits from this game going to do THAT much for Nintendo's profits? I have a really hard time believing that it will.
I'm expecting a similarly dramatic drop in their share price eventually. I could see it hitting $35 though when it launchs in Japan but reality will set in.
Anecdotally, the small minority seem to be gaming "nerds".
Its the kind of game that can make billions in profits over a short period of time so yeah it is quite a big deal.
