Pokémon Sun & Moon |OT2| Calling for help! · · · – – – · · ·

Not being able to use the Day Care to quickly and easily get Pokémon to level 100 is such a loss.

The benefit of Pokémon you're breeding not leveling up and ruining move sets is enormous, but I haven't gotten a single Pokémon to level 100 yet. The closest is 80 something and most are in the 60s.

There's only so many times I can run through the Elite Four.

Or to the very least, GF should have let us be able to farm Lucky Eggs if we're going to be forced to grind. Limiting us to just one is beyond stupid.

Do you have any battle points saved up on bank?

Otherwise you might be able to make do without. Poképelago EV training isn't fast, but it's literally effortless and works in bulk.
I have no BP right now, no. I need to look into PokéPelago as I've largely ignored it up until now. I only have a vague idea of how it works but it sounds like a great feature. Another reason why I want the Power items is for IV breeding though.

It's kinda weird they removed the rare Lucky Egg from Chansey especially considering that farming Chansey for it would be an epic pain in S/M thanks to SOS mechanics.

I wonder if they underestimated just how bad the effect of the XP scaling curve is when the highest level XP granting trainers are actually relatively low levelled.

You'd think they'd do something like have recurring Type Specialist full team rematches for each type in the post game (probably using Trial Captains, Kahuna's, and enough to fill out the rest) where you can like choose match levels in 5 level increments unlocked by beating the lower levels or something.

I've always found this solution far too slow to be usable? I've bored hundreds of pokemons before my ditto reached 100. Took me far less time to reach 100 by just doing battles in S/N (like others)

Isn't there a Pelago equivalent, too?

And rare kitchens, maybe?

I've farmed items easily in S/M thanks to sos... Why would it be harder for Chansey?

Putting two Pokémon in the Day Care and leaving your 3DS on overnight while you ride a bike around an infinite loop was the fastest and most effortless means of high-level progression.

The Pelago equivalent is useless. It's like one level per 24 hours.

Rare Kitchens are great when you have FP, but man, that grind is horrendous.

Because Chansey isn't a Pokemon that can SOS itself.

Hmmm...
Living Dex is complete, bar 13 distributions everything is in my (same) OT.
I've caught, bred (or redeemed) everything myself, no trades.
Gens 1-6 all have Pentagon icons, Gen 7 all have Cross icons.
So I'm done! But...
I've just seen transferred Gen 1 Mon get Game Boy icons!
Now I'm tempted to get these for the whole of Gen 1.
Ugh.

Can Pokemon obtained by the glitch in Yellow who aren't Mew be transferred to Bank?

I had a Nidoqueen transfer just fine. If it's not suspicious by look of moveset or ID, it's fine.

Now that the Pokémon Bank update is available, does anyone know if I can use any Mew to get the Z-Ring item? Even the 20th Anniversary one from last year?

Cool then, it sounded like you were expecting them to find a way to do it, which would be very very strange.

Nah, once I experimented with data structures in Pokemon Black and White that's when I knew that it was impossible to tell the difference between a Pokemon that was genned correctly to Pokemon that were produced in-game.

And the special ruleset apparently allows special pokemon what is this bullshit.

I thought it usually just took the current competition's rules. I just don't want to deal with megas.

They changed the ruleset because of the Bank Update, the next tournament uses rule pretty similar to X/Y.

So Seribii is reporting bans on games with hacked save data.

So am I fucked for "aquiring some items" through PkHex?

This Reddit thread seems to have a rundown on what people have been getting banned for. I think it's mostly checking for shit that you would never legitimately have like 999x Mewnium Z. Apparently it's a similar system to what was present in Gen 6 and what got people banned there. I'm not well versed in hacking the games though.

I'm still really pissed that I forgot to register for the friendly.

I remember checking the website when it was posted too.

I WASTED 4 RARE CANDIES JUST TO GET MY DHELMISE TO 100 😭

Started Wonder Trading my extra Noibats I brought from Y and, the third one, I got a shiny Celebi (Level 100 Cherish Ball)!

I'm not sure if I should be happy to get it, sorry for whoever traded it away, or suspicious that this might be a fake.

Cherish ball is a really really big red flag

I'll bet you $20 it's fake.

Actually Cherish balls are relatively common for Event pokemon like Selebii but as far as I'm aware there aren't any legal Shiny Selebii.

What's the trainer ID on that Selebi is it: 03016 ?

I meant to say cherish ball pokemon are often shiny locked.

But even if it wasn't, nobody is giving up that amount of time it took to soft reset it. Junk shinies are a maybe if you're lucky (much more common this gen since people can be chaining for whatever reason).

Celebi can't legally be shiny. It's definitely hacked.

It may have taken me many many many tries but I finally got my successful run in the battle tree! Stopped at 51 but oh man is super singles the legit struggle for a scrub like me. I used many different teams from 1-30 but from 31 on I used a core of Blaziken, Garchomp and Milotic. Nothing fancy but of them all Milotic put in the most work.

Can you even trade any of the legal mythicals through GTS or Wonder Trade? The monthly freebie ones just give me a message of them being too special to trade away

So the festival plaza Team Colour booths can't recolour my white flower barrette? That's the only dang thing I'd wanted recoloured too, argh
Guess I'll just have to keep an eye out for festival plaza goers wearing the red version :T

Ah, adhesive power... I see.

I agree, I stopped bothering.

Because Chansey isn't a Pokemon that can SOS itself.
That doesn't make the thing worse than in previous Gen.

OTOH, the new dex, not as great as dexnav, probably do.

I want to run a competitive Scientist team. I need some suggestions on how to improve my team. Here they are:

Magnezone - Air Balloon, Sturdy
Thunderbolt
Flash Cannon
Signal Beam
Tri Attack

Alolan Muk - Lum Berry, Poison Touch
Acid Spray
Knock Off
Rock Slide
Curse

Porygon 2 - Eviolite, Analytic
Tri Attack
Recover
Ice Beam
Magic Coat

Beheeym - Leftovers, Synchronize
Psychic
Energy Ball
Nasty Plot
Shadow Ball

Klinklang
- Rocky Helmet, Clear Body
Gear Grind
Shift Gear
Discharge
Hidden Power Fighting

Ditto - Quick Claw

I'd suggest replacing Tri Attack with Volt Switch. Magneozne is slow. a slow Volt Switch allows you to bring another Pokémon into the field safely.

Alolan Muk - Lum Berry, Poison Touch
Acid Spray
Knock Off
Rock Slide
Curse

You better off using Black Sludge for HP recovery. Also you should use Poison Jab over Acid Spray. You're using your weak sp att to lower their sp def, but Muk won't benefit from that. You could also consider Shadow Sneak over Rock Slide for priority.

Porygon 2 - Eviolite, Analytic
Tri Attack
Recover
Ice Beam
Magic Coat

Thunderbolt over Magic Coat. Thunderbolt+Ice Beam is the famous "Boltbeam" combo. It will allow you to hit a LOT of Pokémon for at least neutral damage. That's usually all the offensive you need.

Beheeym - Leftovers, Synchronize
Psychic
Energy Ball
Nasty Plot
Shadow Ball

Beheeyem is too slow ot make a good use of Nasty plot, sadly. Better off using an all offensive set with Analytic (to make use of the low speed somehow) and a life orb/Choice specs. You could also use Trick Room to make it go first, but it would hinder Klingklang and Ditto.

Klinklang
- Rocky Helmet, Clear Body
Gear Grind
Shift Gear
Discharge
Hidden Power Fighting

Incredibly enough, I'm going to suggest Return over Hidden Power. It also has access to Wild Charge. Klingklang has a very shallow movepool. A shame... Substitute over Return is also an option.
Right now you're using an attack boosting move (Shift Gear) but using his weaker, and unboosted, sp att.
For an item you need either a Life Orb to boost your damage or a Lum Berry to protect you from status (but don't use that if you're using substitute)

Ditto - Quick Claw

Just get yourself a Ditto with the Imposter Ability. It will transform into the opposite mon as soon as it enters the field. People usually use it with a Choice Scarf, because when you copy them, you also copy their stat changes. So imagine the opponent has a Garchomp and used Swords Dance. When your Imposter Ditto enters the field, it will transform into a Garchomp with +2 attack from the Swords Dance AND +1 speed from the Choice Scarf.

Is that you, Colress?
Singles? Suggestions in the quote.

I am having a hard time understanding wonder trade...
I ended up getting a shiny lucio and a level 100 Lugia. Are these even legit? I don't understand why people would trade these over wonder trade.

They are not legit. They are hacked. People send all kinds of hacked Pokémon through Wonder Trade, do not expect to get a shiny or level 100 anything that's naturally obtained.

So is there any down side to this. I mean you can't get into trouble for these and they do count for your Pokedex right?

You won't get in trouble. Game Freak does not have the means or the desire to take action against the millions of players in possession of a hacked Pokémon. Many - even most - hacked Pokémon are imperceptible from real ones. It really only gets shaky with legendaries that have more tells because they're supposed to have specific dates or trainer IDs.

That'd make a lot more sense, though I always assume pokebank would screen things like lugia.

What would they screen, though? Natural Lugia would be very rare, but it's not an illegal Pokémon. It is possible to bring a Lugia over from Bank. You can't even cross reference it with event information because somebody could obtain a Lugia from Johto and bring it all the way up the chain to Sun/Moon.

Some hacked Pokémon are obvious. Others not so much. Even if Game Freak implemented a more complex screening process, it would still be easy to bypass. Most people are already very careful with their hacks anyway - they're identical to real ones. It's only the lazy people who are obvious.

The penalty ban for disconnecting during a trade is probably the dumbest thing Gamefreak has ever done. I was trading between my two 3DS' last night to get a few trade evolutions and a disconnect happened for no reason, and I've been locked out of trading since.

Meanwhile blatantly hacked shinies are roaming around Wonder Trade. Nice to see GF's priorities are where they should be.

I don't even understand this banning process. WHY does this happen?

I believe it's to prevent one of the methods of cloning using disconnecting, but anybody that's going to go through the trouble of cloning Pokemon might as well just create a new Pokemon using homebrew.

It's the Gamefreak equivalent of DRM: fuck over the honest players while the pirates/hackers get away scot-free.

Singles? Suggestions in the quote.

Yeah, I was going with something that Colress would use and this is for Singles. I'll be making those changes for this team.

Do you have suggestions for other kinds of scientist teams? I feel the one above doesn't have enough type coverage. I really don't have any answers to fire, steel, grass, and bug types. I'm guessing some other pokemon that would fit thematcially would be:
Fossil Pokemon
Electrode
Weezing
Sawsbuck (Some scientists had one in Black 2, but it doesn't seem sciency to me)
Mewtwo

I'm open singles or doubles.
