The rest is arguable but on this point I have to agree with ethomaz RE1 absolutely does have more options in terms of plot. there are multiple ways of tackling the game to get different cutscenes and outcomes. With Barry for example.in original even simple stuff like choosing to go upstairs first rather then straight to the shotgun room changes the outcomes you get with him. This all gets reduced to a simple yes/no option in REmake for giving him back a gun.

Barry will still do different things depending on your actions in REmake (as will Rebecca in Chris' scenario), like with the shotgun, the acid rounds gift, Plant 42 and so on, but the ultimate decision as to whether he lives or dies is like you say boiled down to a simple late game yes/no choice on the part of the player, rather than being calculated from an average of loyal/disloyal accomplishments as it was in the original. Regarding Rebecca, simply taking too long to rescue her in either game gets her killed.

Generally, the original game was more secretive and diverse about how your actions affected story progress, but a decent chunk of the system still carried over to the REmake.

Really looking forward to seeing if this sort of thing ends up being in RE7.
