Rumor: Konami has shut down their LA studio (ex KojiPro LA), ~35 jobs gone

Didn't they release some huge patch people were raving about? Kind of makes sense that they did so much in that patch because they knew that was it for them. Really fucking sad.

my assumption is that whomever is handling the FOB/single player updates, will handle MGO updates. they probably have some small team of janitors working weekends

Good luck, than. Each patch on PC broke something else (they rolled out the last one because it bugged menus, and menus are still bugged even after the roll out).

MGO is cursed. Such an awesome game and it can't never stay. MGO2 closed after 2 years... This MGO will last even less. Such a shame.

They are in the middle of a patch for MGO right now. I would suspect if the studio was being shut down they wouldn't even bother with said patch. So who knows. I'm not sure if its wise to jump to conclusions before the truth comes outm

Blinded by the luminous glory that is David Bowie's physical manifestation.
...wait, so what happens to MGO on PC?

Still coming in Janurary until Konami says otherwise. Though, I'd expect the worst at this point with how fast Konami is washing their hands of Metal Gear.

The patch could be done already and in certification, for all we know.

Hudson Soft fans: Welcome to five years ago, MGS fans.

Most people who are fans if Konami's franchises have basically already been though this. I had my other favorites die by thier hand, including Castlevania which was my absolute favorite. At least it made Metal Gear's death easier to accept.

The patch is probably already done. It's scheduled to release any moment, so it seems they shuttered the studio once the patch was complete.

I've been playing a lot of Genesis games lately and it keeps reminding me of how Konami was just a dominant force back then. So many amazing classics. Could never have even imagined that they'd end up like this.

Well, with Konami's new direction (and lack of AAA production in those plans), it's not unexpected that they'd cut people loose who specialise in that kind of work.

That kind of development talent is simply not needed to shit out mobile games and pachislots and whatever else they're focusing on going forward.

Expected, but right before Christmas? That's a low blow.

The only thing I'm hoping for is that this "Konami" will eventually sell their rights to Castlevania, Silent Hill, Suikoden & co to promising studios. Otherwise, these universes are effectively deader than dead.

I still can't believe a company would treat its licenses and what made them known and loved like this. I'm speechless. In any case, I won't spend a dime for anything they will sell in the future. "Konami" is dead to me, period.

I'm actually wishing for this company to go bankrupt, with no other choices than to sell their licenses. If that happens, I'll savor the moment with a glass of red wine. They would have brought this upon themselves.
Good bye Konami.

What is Konami? A miserable little pile of deep shits.
