Rumor: Konami has shut down their LA studio (ex KojiPro LA), ~35 jobs gone

MGO 3 will still come to the pc, not delivering on such a big promised feature wouldn't even Konami do. However, I doubt it will be a quality product now, and if it has problems they will probably never be fixed :(

This is why I'm not going to get started on MGO, I don't have any faith Konami is going to support it in the long run.

Konami just burned itself along with MGO, I guess.

...lacks reading comprehension.
I thought they announced the closure of everything KojiPro more than half a year ago and made it clear that everybody remained as a contract worker until after MGS V? Surely this is just those contracts running out and not them firing people right now?

The whole thing just seems rushed and personal. Like it's hard for me to see calm businessmen making this go down the way it did. Instead I see a visibly angry, furious guy in a suit ordering his underlings to do this and that.

Good to see some of the devs have already found new jobs.

How is MGO though? I haven't given it a crack yet and it'd be sad to see the service short lived if its good.

Oh yeah and #fuckonami

Does that also mean no more updates to MGO and if anything breaks in MGO it will not get fixed?

Yes, no more updates as they fired the staff updating it. Konami may maintain the servers, they did with previous titles for a few years then shut them down. (It needs a central server to logon).

It has several issues. Some are getting fixed in the next - possibly the one and only - patch. It also severely lacks content, so if this rumour is true I'm not even gonna bother updating the game.

I imagine they cant not deliver MGO without breaking the law in many countrys. It was a heavily advertised feature of the game, even weeks after release it was always said that it'll come and that they need a bit more time. They sold copies on said promise and advertisements.

Not delivering this feature at all would make refunding this game very easy i suppose, arkham knight style.

So did Konami just plan to stay in long enough to break even on MGSV? Pretty short sighted "Take the money and run" thinking if that's the case.

With regards to MGS5 Online for PC, it was already slated for a Jan 2016 release, right? Surely they've spent the past couple of months getting it working and the few remaining skeleton staff at Konami flip the proverbial switch on Jan 16th or whenever and PC gamers can play MGS5 Online.

Oh well, time for more Jimquisition updates.

They're carryong on in such a bizarrely destructive fashion, the management need to go.

Considering video games is not where Konami makes the bulk of their money I doubt stock holders have much of an issue with the Management. There really isn't anything they have done that is destructive of the company outside of the mind of people who primarily knew them for their games.

I hate what Konami has become as I love many of the franchises they are attached to but Konami is not that company anymore and I don't think id want them developing another Castlevania, or Suikoden in their current state to be honest.

"Konami announces Suikoden 6, now with the ability to purchase all 108 stars of destiny!"

Konami just went full pachinko. Never go full pachinko Konami.

Actually, business wise is the best decision for 'em.
Trim all the fat and focus on pachinko/mobile, Kojima doesnt want to be part of that so he had to be cut.

* Crossing fingers that Sony hires Kojigod *

Thanks, doesn't sound that great. The biggest issue I've seen is the archaic P2P connectivity where if the host quits everyone is screwed.

I'll have to go this a go sometime this week but lack any motivation to do so.

Yeah. Konami is gonna be fine. Hell they'll probably make even more money now.

I honestly think this was the plan from the beginning. Because, why releasing MGO four months later on PC. I mean, I can understand a one month delay, but four? While the game is ready and you have all the tools because you already ported MGSV SP on PC? This smells. I hope to be proved wrong.

As long as team bemani is alive, no badmouthing of Konami will come from me.

If that ever shuts down, though...

Don't worry guys. Iron Galaxy Studies will port MGO to PC. They have time now after Arkham Knight was fixed.

The fact is, how can you mantein an online structure whithout a staff?
I mean, even if MGO won't be released on PC, servers need maintenance, bugs need to be sorted out.
Of course if this rumor is really true, MGO will go down in no time even on console. The strange thing is someone on GAF posted a log for a future MGO patch, so why bothering on release that one too?

I don't know, this whole situation is just weird. How many employees were in Konami LA?

my assumption is that whomever is handling the FOB/single player updates, will handle MGO updates. they probably have some small team of janitors working weekends
