The one thing we can confirm is that Platinum will never work with Microsoft again.
Daniel Ahmad ‏@ZhugeEX
My take on all this, and I've been seeing this for a while, is that Microsoft is transitioning all their games to the 'live service' model.
Daniel Ahmad ‏@ZhugeEX
Basically Microsoft want to have their games emulate what Minecraft has been able to do.
Long lifecycle, large user base, Increased spend.
Daniel Ahmad ‏@ZhugeEX
Microsoft's future direction is about being able to offer the Xbox games and live services on multiple devices that run Windows 10.
Rolling wherever he is right now, please come back T_T
Why don't you edit the picture to make your (misguided and frankly tasteless) point, then? There are plenty of places where this image can be used as a basis for discussion instead of a tool to derail an existing one.Picture does not include TLOU PT2, Death Stranding, God of War. Safe to say, they won't get cancelled.
It is absolutely not a 1 to 1 situation, not just because PS4 is in the lead, but because Sony didn't show off/announce that expensive SSM project to the public. It is absolutely not the same thing. MS is making a habit of doing this over and over again. Hype up/reveal big AAA exclusive titles to the public, pitching them as essential parts of their upcoming lineups only to end up cancelling them and not following through on it. Sony's only notable thing like this this gen that I can think of has been for Rime which is an indie title that has only been shown at their gamescom conferences and not touted as an essential part/pillar of their upcoming exclusive lineup.Yet, here we are bemoaning how terrible Microsoft is to cancel a project that wasn't working out. Did Sony not have to gut an expensive project at SSM that wasn't working out? Obviously, this isn't a 1-to-1 situation as Playstation 4 is in an enviable position from both a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd party viewpoint, but the principle remains the same. Projects get cancelled, and sometimes, they need too.
Almost like the Switch.
Hmmm Platinum is not exactly knocking it out of the park anymore.
...........that Kamiya had lost faith in MS since posting that tweet, in 2015.Oh yeah I got that, I meant what does he mean by posting the tweet.
Most definitely. I just didn't want to spell out every possibility in that post. I hope everyone comes out OK, hell there will be people in MS on the chopping block for this too. Hopefully everyone lands on their feet. All evidence points towards there being problems on both ends. Neither is "innocent", and at the end of the day it sucks, as we miss out on the game and likely many people will lose their jobs over it.
ib4 sony comes and buys the project and saves the day
Specially since the tweet is from 2015, I doubt there were any serious talk about cancellation back then.Guys, he's quoting another tweet (everything after the RT). And in his usual troll self, he's saying "the state of the game is better than the state of your life." This tweet is proof of nothing.
I would not be surprised in the slightest.Brace for impact.
Crackdown 3 next.
It's been too long since we've heard of the power of the cloud.
Honestly as someone who adored the 360 I kinda agree, though I think the Wii was the worst to me on a personal level. But the Xbox One is right behind it.
Its certainly the biggest disappointment ever in terms of consoles for me.
Can I pop in the game and play THE FULL game without having to worry for running out of install space? Or attaching other HDDs? Or installing new HDDs?
No?
Then It's an installbox, and I might as well start up my PC and install it there. I know, like I said, that isn't a popular opinion, but it bugs me. I know now you'll start attacking me over it (and maybe I should not mention it buy I'm seriously pissed about the cancellation), but the fact that even PS4 with it's streamlined install (try going outside the beaten path and you still need to wait for it to install, but very often games have you play the first part in 30 seconds... clever..but still... install).. it still is a shitty install box.
and yes my mood is foul.
Come on Nintendo, do what you did with Bayonetta... fund the development and save this game as a Switch Exclusive. Make it glorious and show those losers at MS what true winning is like.
I believe Microsoft is stupid enough to go through with this.
Kinect almost useless, no new games use it
Few exclusives
Appealing games getting canceled...
What's the point of buying an xbone?
I don't think Last Guardian should be the example for long dev cycles turning out right. Might as well use Duke Nukem Forever.
Most definitely. I just didn't want to spell out every possibility in that post. I hope everyone comes out OK, hell there will be people in MS on the chopping block for this too. Hopefully everyone lands on their feet.
This is quite the post, wow. Just going to comment and say that the reason games install onto the hard drive rather than play from the disc is to decrease load times and protect the disc drive.
A bad game in development got cancelled is how this looks. Happens all the time. Why is this thread 67 pages? its not anything new in game development that troubled games are cancelled. Even Platinum can misfire, cough Korra cough TMNT cough.
I didn't even think someone could misunderstand how a RT is laid out on Twitter all I read was "better than ur life" and I was struggling to understand how that backed up the rest of his post. My bad............that Kamiya had lost faith in MS since posting that tweet, in 2015.
I was hoping that by asking you to actually quote and re-read the post you're complaining about, you'd realize that nobody actually portbegged to begin with, and maybe even admit to it.
so I'll just quote it for you!
there's no portbegging here.
(cheering because Nintendo C&D's a Rom Hack)Yass get them. 🔫
Salt and MS hate.A bad game in development got cancelled is how this looks. Happens all the time. Why is this thread 67 pages? its not anything new in game development that troubled games are cancelled. Even Platinum can misfire, cough Korra cough TMNT cough.

Good luck selling that.
A lot of people are being quick to throw this on Platinum, but on one hand we have a developer that has consistently delivered dozens of games on time (including one in a little under two months).
On the other:
- reports of how Microsoft dealt with the scope and budget of Phantom Dust
- co-op being added to Scalebound
- Kamiya signaling dissatisfaction around that time
- Microsoft having a track record of pushing towards unecessary game modes, microtransactions, lotteries and loot boxes
- Microsoft having a problematic recent history with third party contracted developers
Erase the names from the above -- what would you think likely happened?
How did Kamiya suddenly lose his capability of delivering focused, well-regarded games and instead, by fault of his own team, fell into a bloated development hell and had his game cancelled?
It just plain doesn't sound as likely. This sounds very consistent with the post-mortem on Phantom Dust that Kotaku published. My guess is that Microsoft stretched the scope of the project, and Platinum crumbled under a lack of budget and time.
Just for comparison's sake, here's a list of what Nintendo announced at E3 2014, and here's a list of all the games Sony announced at E3 2014.
Many of the games announced at E3 get cancelled or just go away. Its pretty common.
Let's not forget that the Xbox Tv division was killed off single handedly by QB =/

Who would buy them though? They should sell the entire gaming division its clear that theyre focus is elsewhere.
