I was only kidding on all the extra pages being for the names, still a whole bunch to get in there though. Would be good seeing my own included in a tiny font, ha.

I hope he winds up doing N64, PSX and newer gens too. I'd love to have a collection of the main consoles from NES to present day or at least up to a gen or two ago.

£150k reached! That's 4 more gatefold pages for a total of 556 pages.

Now it's a matter of seeing if we can reach the goal of making the slipcase lenticular.

Well, this thread has just cost me £62... thanks, I guess!

Just buying the NES book from the Bitmap Books store might actually be a marginally better option, but I'm happy to put that £30 towards the stretch goals - the lenticular cover isn't far away now. I'm glad that I saw this thread in time! Backer number 4,001.

£175,392 - that's the lenticular cover stretch goal hit! Now to wait and see what'll be at £200,000 - and whether the total can get to that.

Just realized this could be coming out around the same time as the SNES Mini, which would make for a very nice trip down memory lane.

Glad to see the SNES book is now on par with the NES book in terms of content/stretch goals. Wonder if 200k will just be more pages.

Glad to see GAF is getting hype for this!

Lenticular I can take or leave but I am so excited we hit all the extra page goals and the heavy slipcase.

Even tho I didn't own the first three systems they did books on, I want them because having a book with a spine that says 4, and one that says 5, without 1,2 and 3 drives me crazy.

edit - i removed pics of the NES book from the OP and replaced with spreads from the new book.

It's just as annoying having 1, 2, & 4, with that missing 3 just taunting me to buy the Sinclair ZX book one of these days.

He added a 185,000 stretch goal- a signed postcard for everyone!

Also will reveal the 200,000 stretch goal on Sunday. You guys have any guess what it is??

Can't wait to see what the postcard will look like.

As for 200k, guessing it could be another bonus item.....like the Disk-kun sticker that came with the NES book, but I don't know what they could do for SNES.

I *think* the postcard is the same as the cover (obviously non-lenticular). I think it was shown in the kickstarter update, but I could be wrong.

Yeah I bet you're right. Maybe a character sticker or something? I wonder if that would be legal.

We're almost at 183k, so hoping we get those postcards considering there's a week left.

& the 200k goal has been revealed:

At 200K, each book backer will get a free set of A4 gloss photo art prints. The beautiful photos will be taken from the selection featured in the book, which have been shot by Matt Wilsher. The prints will be very high quality, printed on 200gsm glossy art paper and will come in a coloured card envelope. The images shown below may be subject to a small change when the final prints are made.

Bit ambivalent re the photo prints but it's a neat idea. Any idea what the game cartridge in the photo is?

Seiken Densetsu 2, aka Secret of Mana.

I wonder if they'll include some pics (both in the book & in the prints) of the 2nd SNES model, which is what I have.

Ah that was my guess, thanks for confirming.

I would imagine they definitely will include the 2nd revision in the book at least. Maybe not in the prints, unfortunately.

The A4 Photos update seems to be locked behind the backer wall, anyone able to post the photos here?

I just got the NES Compendium in the mail and it's such a nice piece of work.

I have the N64 anthology book or whatever, and it's really awesome. I want one for every Nintendo system through the GameCube.

I want this, a lot of games for SNES have beautiful pixel art. I'm probably gonna wait till the last day. I wish I had grown up more with the SNES than PlayStation though because I would've been more inclined to immediately back if I did.

There's the £185k just hit!

As for the £200k goal, the prints aren't something that overly interest me, but there's certainly no harm in having another bonus item.

Just backed the hardcover book. Really excited for this. I absolutely loved the SNES. I go back and forth between the SNES and PS1 as to what my favorite console of all time is.

Maybe this is a it early but I'm really curious what system his next book will be. Logically the Genesis or TG16 I suppose, but I REALLY WANT a Neo Geo book. The pixel art is just begging for lavish production!

I have the NES/Famicom version and this was an instant buy for me the moment it went up. I was really impressed with how well the NES one came out.

It's not a Visual Compendium, but the same company (Bitmap Books) will be making a Neogeo Visual History book, which is suppose to be available for pre-order this month.

Update:

So, we have exactly 2 days left and as we stand are at £196,213. We are £4,000 away from the next stretch goal where you will all get the 5 A4 glossy photo prints.

I've decided to announce a stretch goal for £215,000. If we hit this goal, the PDF version of the book will be made interactive. This means that it will be super enhanced with video gameplay, photos and other bits of cool media. The contents page will be interactive and overall the whole PDF will feel much more 'alive' and fun to browse. I will be using an agency that specialise in this kind of thing so it will be really slick
I highly doubt we'll reach 215k, but that actually sounds rather cool having actual footage of the game via the PDF version of the book.

I recieved the NES version in the mail earlier this week and I can confirm that this series is quality in every facet, not just with design and visual compenents, but from a literiature stand point as well. It is packed with interesting content.

Not that the campaign needs any more irrelevant indorsements at this point, I still feel conpelled to mention that I was so impressed with the NES book compared to other media I've purchased in the past, I decided to back the SNES edition on kickstarter. It will be worth every cent!
