I feel MS pretty much had to do this. Either let Gears go multiplatform or snap up the franchise. Since they spent so much money, they need a quick return on the investment. Building a brand new team would take much longer than putting Black Tusk right on it. Hopefully MS invests more into BT so the other game can come out, though.
Boy am I glad that project is done for. The gun trigger is moving by itself before the finger moves.
TBH Spencer saying that what we saw at E3 was never a game and Black Tusk stating that they were working on a game at the time of E3 don't contradict themselfs. Both could be true.
I would had loved for this to be a game.
It's going to be a clusterfuck that will eclipse that of 343i with Halo 4.
MS are making the wrong decision by rushing into development. There's maybe a few drops of milk to extracted from the Gears udders, but they needed to be much smarter and take some risks...neither of which they'll be doing and it's going to end with Gears becoming a joke franchise that will end up being a weight around Black Tusk's and MS' neck...
I wonder if anyone at Black Tusk wants to leave.
CoD is a yearly franchise and San Andreas and Reach where made by the original dev teams. Gears was a side-story and developed by PCF. Very different.
btusk inst not that B!g. teh spygam WAS REAAL.
preriod.
n itwa$ good.
So what? The average consumer has no idea who is developing these games, and I suspect has no conception of the difference between "mainline" and offshoot (particularly when the offshoot has similar cast members).
Blame Judgment's poor sales on the marketing budget or the fact that it was a spring release. Or the fact that it was barely even 18 months after GOW3 was released. I honestly don't think people turned their noses up at it for being a side story.

Little disappointed. I hope this newly formed studio doesn't get stuck doing Gears for the next five years.
I think you're stretching things, but I can see why you are upset. Also, stealth games are great sellers lately. The latest Splinter Cell was a bomb financially even though it's supposedly a pretty good game if I recall.
I expect a rename as well. Something Gears related.I'm sure they will. Black Tusk might as well be renamed Gear Studio.
they were looking for a lead writer some time ago.
bet it was for gears.
I meannnnn you can prefer the stealth game but come on. This is some projecting.Dude, come on. There's nothing to spin here. MS have shelved a promising stealth IP for one that's in decline. It's short sighted and it's going to blow up in their faces.
.
XboxP3: @Steverulez Need to focus on Gears for now.

How can anyone know it will blow up in their faces? Maybe BT does a great job with Gears and MS decides to let them hire more staff and have a 2nd team work on the original game? Or maybe the original game wasnt looking good and they decided to scrap it and having them work on Gears was a way to keep the studio open. Sucks we never get to know all the behind the scenes stuff, but it seem premature to say that this is going to blow up in their faces.Dude, come on. There's nothing to spin here. I'm not really sure how we can tag anything that's only been seen as a concept video with no real gameplay shown as "promising"
I'd rather see them do something new, but I don't know why people are acting like we really know anything at all about what they were working on.

The Gears of War
Seems like Gears of War 4 would be the low risk option for the mass market regardless of story. Especially with the recent subtitled name falling short of expectations, they'll want to project a new game as a big deal and core numbered entries are a way to do that. Whatever marketing says likely goes, as cynical as that might be.I expect a rename as well. Something Gears related.
Genuinely soul crushing; out with the new, in with the old. Not the path to changing fortunes in my opinion, but it is what it is. Nothing gonna change this now
At least I can still anticipate Sunset Overdrive. That looks crazy good
I want to anticipate Quantum Break, but Alan Wake was one of the biggest disappointments of last gen for me (it was one of the reasons I got a 360 before I had a gaming level PC), so I'm gonna be a bit more careful with my hype. Plus the TV thing makes me "eh"
Cancelling an apparently promising new IP in favour of working on a 5th entry to a franchise in decline. This fucking industry. Slightly less interested in buying an xbox one now
I thought this was known that it was a tech demo...that's how they introduced it at e3 right?

As far as I can remember, it was projected as a future project from Black Tusk studios in the earlier stages of development.
Exactly how I feel at this point. There was so much excitement around that video. Especially after this:
“What that means is we are working on Microsoft’s next big entertainment franchise,” he said. “We’re not working on an existing franchise, we’re looking to build the next Halo here in Vancouver, for example, which is really exciting. We are building something from the ground up.”

To pretend it was all a concept is a flat out lie. Makes me think all this happened quite recently. :/
Did they release any gameplay or cut scene? I can't believe I missed it
I asked this the the other thread, but one answered.
Was the game black tusk working on cancelled, or put on hold?
