Splatoon map RNG continues to be the worst I see.Yeah someone else noted that there was different maps before. Just got really unlucky with rotation it seems.
Ah well, least there's still a few more sessions to tryout the other maps
Chargers still more effort than what is worth for non single point objective game modes. Their special is pretty bad, though a damage buff could help it a little.
Gonna try this tonight since I missed out. How is the impressions of gyro in portable mode.

Ooooo that's another thing the game didn't explain and I forgot it was even a thing. How do you do a dodge roll?Should just faceroll with splattershot and rollers until the full game and ranked comes out lol
Made a quick clip. The dualies are so hnnnnnnnnnng.
Displaying enemy ink that is vertically placed on walls for you to clean up would be almost impossible to display on a map, very hard to comprehend (think about analyzing Metroid Prime's 3D map during an intense fire fight or a 7 second respawn, and the game would be very irritating if you had to clean walls to score or recover points.Wow walls don't count for turf? It's little things like that that they could have just explained in the tutorial.

By faceroll, I mean autopilot, like using Vergil in UMVC3. I think only the dualies have that dodge roll thing, which I haven't played yet, but I'm assuming you're vulnerable for a few frames after exhausting your rolls.... can someone confirm lol

Whelp I missed it because of work. How did the game look?

LOL solid play then this xD got a pretty good laugh
I tried portable mode once after 50 mins of gameplay on the pro controller and the difference was immediate, however I felt like throwing up after just one game. Felt just like the Wii U gamepad honestly. The pro controller was really good too, it's just a matter of getting used to it.

Hit jump for a short height boost, can squid with it toolol yeah, I was like NO, GO UP! GO UUUUUP! That'll take some getting used to.
It kept happening in later matches too 8D
Smooth as butter, stunning textures, colours pop on Switch screen.
better than WiiU in every way
Playing I'm handheld mode for only about a bit over 3 mins,it likes reeeaaalll good, could instantly tell it was an upgrade over splatoon 1Whelp I missed it because of work. How did the game look?

Rolls drain ink and you are stuck in place for a second unless you roll again
How are folks feeling about the maps? These 2 seemed a little...generic to me.

This thread is giving me Splatoon 1 Testfire OT vibes. <3
Just like old timesOh for real? I only had the one pop-up, guess I got unlucky.
Hopefully I get the other one next session. It's quite nostalgic.Only played one but wasn't much of a fan. I'm sure the final release will have more variety in its maps just like the original.
still 720p?
Still? Have you not played splatoon 1 since the test fire? Or do you mean since you played it at the preview event. The campaign in the original was a blast. One of the best final boss fight sequences ever.
I played probably 9-12 matches. Can't remember exactly. Had multiple games with every weapon, and everything felt great; I had to crank up my camera and gyro sensitivity a bit right away, but after that it felt spot on.
Rollers are still pretty OP so... nothing changed there. Hope splat data convinces them to tone down their ranged attack a bit. Specials all felt pretty good with the exception of the ink jet, which just moves way too slow. The charger felt really anemic compared to every other weapon. No real incentive to use it other than to have suction bombs.
Overall it was nice. I played a bit at the preview event in NYC in December and it's the same build I guess. Weird aliasing and some blocky hands / fingers on the toons that will hopefully get polished before launch. They still have months to go, so I have high hopes.
Day one.
As long as it's fine. I've haven't played the first game so I was unsure of how it was gonna be, plus I'm gonna be playing it on portable majority of the time so wanted to make sure it'd would be fine on there.
Oh dope. Thought it was all controlled by terrain under you. Thanks, I'll try that out tonight.
Okay, yeah, I suspected as much... so just punish the recovery of someone that spams roll lol
(though the footage you posted is nice and I'll probably give it a go later after seeing the changes they made to rollers)
They changed all the specialsI noticed they didn't include the more chaotic bomb rush type specials for this testfire. Was bomb rush in Splatoon's testfire?
lol I played with you a couple of times. 😛
Yea. I wonder if they are removing specials (bomb rush) that allow you to spam projectiles for this game. They changed all the specials
Refined art style of the first game. The textures are far better and the character models really stand out. The animations are also brilliant.
Summer can't come soon enough.

What's everyone's favourite special?
Graphics:
Not a big upgrade over Splatoon 1 and there's a weird filter over it, might just be AA or something. Disliked the washed out look it gave the game on my tv. I remember Splatoon looking more crisp. The new visual details in the maps and on the characters are nice though.
I should have been more clear, the portable mode gyro felt superior. Maybe it's because I'm used to the gamepad playing 2 years now. However since you're moving the screen itself = unplayable
Fludd Jetpack for sureWhat's everyone's favourite special?
