my last picks are all rap albums i think. tonight's might be a 60's soul album if the rap album i want gets picked, but i don't think my love for southern soul carries much weight on this board.

It had Sci-Fi Wasabi!

:lol Actually, when I was 17 I would listen to Blue Train nonstop over and over again to the point of annoyance of everyone around me. I think I saw Cibo Matto the same episode of that HBO show that had Calexico and they played it in there. Was that show called Reverb?

My pick for #8:

Fountains of Wayne - Welcome Interstate Managers

In a different era, say, like when I was a teenager in the late 70's/early 80's, these guys would have been enormous. Unfortunately, there is no real radio outlet for pure pop anymore, so bands like FoW end up criminally underappreciated. As it stands, they simply today produce the greatest collections of pop songs, in all of their hook laden glory, around. This record, with terrific songs about everyday working stiffs, is exquisite. After I bought it, it literally never left my car CD player for about 6 months. I could not hear it enough. Today it easily stands as one of my most favorite albums, and they have become one of my favorite 4 or 5 bands of all time....

Nice one, that and a couple of others I was mulling over for this round of the draft. I went ahead with T. Rex since it would have been a shame not to grab the sexiest album of all time.

Ha. If Nevermind had lasted until the last day I would have picked it regardless of not even liking the album myself. :lol

On the topic of Nevermind, I like the record and has grown on me over the years but I would think that it would divide votes in the end.

I almost picked Nevermind tonight but then I thought back on all the wonderful non compos mentis nights I spent with Satori and I just couldn't abandon it.

Exactly why I am not picking a Blink-182 album.
