Standard internet speak. Any opinion is dialled up to sensationalist territory.
But really dude "boring as hell" is pretty harsh.
I like it. Gunfight seems way better than expected! That bridge fight is quite tame, I've had a lot more intense firefights.
Sitting behind a cover while hordes of human characters walk towards you with seemingly no AI to speak of is intense?
Nice! What difficulty was that one? You were taking a few hits and got red screen pretty fast
The gameplay doesn't seem to draw from the narrative themes at all. Sure it's supposed to be "Victorian era" and "Steampunk" but none of that really matters if the gameplay is still exactly the same as in any other generic shooter.

Looks boring as all hell. Goddamn.
The enemy hit reactions look especially bad and jarring considering how good the graphics are.
I like everything about the game except the actual gameplay, it just looks so incredibly generic :'(
welcome back to edgy neogaf opinions
The way it should be played, on hard with aim-assist off.
YESSIR! That's how I'll be playing it. Like you said nothing new but it gets the job done. Looks that way to me. Hard with aim assist off it is!Watch the whole fucking video maybe? On hard you're no bullet sponge, you get downed in a few hits in the open, one shot even by shotgunners up close. You can't just jog around to your pleasing, most fights have you in cover just like any standard cover based tps. Nothing out of the ordinary but it gets the job done well.

Not this shit again. What's wrong with generic?
I think they could have been way more creative with the way you approach gunplay, though. I don't have any ideas of how. I guess that's the problem.
The visuals and overall atmosphere calls for something less generic, imo.
Looks fun but the enemies, their movements and their AI just looks weird. They're very stiff. Kind of like those targets that pop up in shooting ranges.
While waiting for our review and videos in a few hours, we just got a HQ video straight from Sony, showing a bridge battle. It seems like we are the first to post it (I could be wrong).Enjoy

This might be dismissed, but I can't unsee that now. Like a Call of Duty firing range.

Not familiar with Gamespur. They gave it 95%
They did consider a female lead at some pint during development, no one ever starts a story without considering who the protagonist should be. They just didn't make a female skin for the hundreds of thousands of combinations of armor since players would never see them. That would be hard to pull off convincingly. What racial thing btw?
Is this mechanic actually used for any puzzle solving/detective work, or is it just flash?
Not me specifically, but I have seen posts indicating people being positive towards this game are said to be drinking the devs kool-aid.

The melee animation blending is some of the best I've seen, similar to Ryse. Visceral and seamless.
Looks like light work. Watch the stairs for shotgun dudes because they're the only ones who push up on your position, dodge roll nad spam, and mop up the baddies who stay back in cover the whole time.

And another example of cutscenes doing the opposite of what they're intended to do: That lead up to the bridge battle would've been so much better in gameplay. There's no build and anticipation when the game drives you all the way up to cover before dropping you off.
In all fairness I feel like you could probably make more of that encounter if you get yourself into the thick of it rather than camping a perched position. Perhaps hard more promotes more tame play.
I imagine playing on normal and getting into the middle of the area would be more entertaining. Using blacksight, spinning around taking out targets, swapping weapons etc.
Reviewers are unleashing their creativity. Here's an excerpt from the preview of the review from Forbes http://www.forbes.com/sites/erikkain/2015/02/18/11-things-you-need-to-know-about-the-order-1886/:
1. Its the perfect game to pair with Mountain Dew and Doritos!
Heres why: There are so many cut-scenes and moments where you dont have to do anything but sit and watch, youll have your hands free. This makes it super easy to wolf down super delicious Doritos which can only be properly washed down with gulp after gulp of frosty fresh Mountain Dew!
7. Hey look, its time for some more delicious Doritos! And dont forget the Mountain Dew!
This is because, no matter what RaD says, this game is not a $100 steak. You will need to eat something else.
When you useyou just leave people feeling shortchanged, .a cliffhanger or 'to be continued' ending

From a visual perspective that was incredible.
Damn. Im just going to sleep now.Yeah I really want to sleep (10:30pm here) so I'll post the OT in 30 minutes.

I bet you will lose this one
Painful? Why? Was the player bad? Or was there horrible hit detection? Horrible Ai?
What exactly was so painful?
He's saying that the gameplay looks bad, not fun. You want to like the game, fine, you don't need to antagonize people with different opinions.Painful? Why? Was the player bad? Or was there horrible hit detection? Horrible Ai?

Is the game worth the asking price? Yes, but only if you sell it afterwards immediately
