I do remember it well, the logo chage. I never liked that and not because i'm against marriage equality but because it was the only time that GAF in a official manner celebrated something. There's lot of stuff going on in the world, good and bad, but this was apparently the only "battle" (a USA only matter) important enough to change the logo.

This site is not a representation of the owner, it is a community everyone has made member by member, and if you think coming in to drop an insult will make you some sort of hero for rallying against an allegation then you need to wake up from the fairy tale you live in. Allow for an invesigation to take place, and then make an educated judgement to stay or not.

Doesn't matter at this point. Most of the fallout is because of EL's master stroke of ineptitude handling this situation, like it's laughably bad.
Even if the girl was a psychobitch, the gist of his statement still should've been "I fucked up, I'm sorry." And then he goes and shuts off the part of the forum where discussion about this subject would've been held, AND makes the mod team anonymous, basically a secret police of GAF.
Everything EL has done since Saturday has been laughably bad. Literally should've made the opposite decision of every decision he's made since this blew up.
The optics of this is really bad for a lot of people. The way EL handled this would make GamerGaters proud of him, some probably consider EL one of them now.

Agreed. I've certainly developed some more progressive views from Gaf that I didn't have before. But it got to the point where people were getting dogpiled for daring to challenge the majority opinion. Even left leaning people got attacked for disagreeing with more radical opinions. This is a gaming forum, not a political deathmatch forum.

To be clear I don't have a stake in anyone's corner. It's not that I'm desperate to discredit her, I'm just curious why anyone who doesn't take her account of what happened as factual is "attacked" on the forum.
I'm also curious as to why she didn't mention she later had a relationship with him, in my opinion had she posted that along with her facebook post it would have (quite understandably) had people asking the same question. I.E why would you get into a relationship with someone who sexually harassed you?
With regards to your last point, yes I'll accept the fact that I don't know for certain how everyone will react to something. I'm also aware that people react differently. All I'm doing is giving my own opinion.
For me personally I could never imagine later having sex and a relationship with someone I felt sexually harassed me. But then again I wouldn't stay with someone who was violent towards me in a relationship, but that happens too, so....

Yes getting into the shower naked was stupid if he mis-read her signals. But leaving when immediately asked doesn't really scream sexual predator to me. Had he insisted, maybe tried it on despite her rejecting his advances, then that would be a different story altogether.

No, no it really isn't. Unlike some people, I actually enjoy debating people and want them to offer me their honest opinions without fear of being banned.
Here I got one. PoliGAF was completely wrong about the election and shat up the OT. Every legitimate criticism of Hillary was met by calls of "concern trolling" and Dogpiling. Even attempts to discuss Hillary's missteps with her political adverts became slogs where no one wanted to actually discuss the topic but instead focused on an imaginary enemy trying to apparently destroy Hillary from within.
Very specific members got toxic and downright hostile and I can definitely say they made OT a shitty place to post in and overall drained me of any desire to talk about politics there. I can remember the names and it seems some of them are leaving but I can recall some posters even straight up deriding or shaming people for thinking anything or than them.
They didn't make me a better person through their actions, just bitter. Bitter that I had opinions that I couldn't express without being shat one for anything I could see other than not agreeing with them exactly the way they wanted. And I hated that. I used to enjoy discussing politics on the internet years ago and NeoGAF really robbed me of the chance to indulge in it again.
In some ways I'm glad OT is gone because it needed a reset. But then again I'm unhappy, because I still liked a lot of OT, I liked reading about movies and discussing them. At least there I could express unpopular opinions without people being huge fucks. So this sucks, this sucks that OT is gone but what we had before sucked too. So I'm going to bear it and see and hope that it comes back better and without the shittiness that undercut the entire Off-Topic area.

First of all, it's not "my leftism", it's what leftism is and always has been. The entire point of left wing ideology is that you view the economic relationship between individuals in society as the origin of the social layers above it, including gender relations.
You're not a leftist, you're just a tribalist. For you, identity politics comes first and understanding how and why people voted for eg. Trump or Brexit is irrelevant, all that matters is if they aren't in your tribe and they appear hostile to your views on identity politics you are sick of them, they are less intelligent than you, they are inherently bigoted people etc. etc. and the solution is to scream that at them as often as possible.
