Urban fuckin Champion is finally here. The killer app!

Is it fair to say it's the shittiest game Nintendo's ever made? Like it's legit shit.

It is, yeah. Dunno why people expect otherwise. Sure they gave you a what, 20% discount on Wii U for re-buying your games? But still.

80% discount is a lot different than 20%.

There aren't really that many of the old Nintendo arcade cabinets, right? (Not counting the ones post-1990 as they're basically a completely different thing) If they're going to be doing this series, Urban Champion basically had to be part of it.

I count 55 old Nintendo arcade systems (drawing the line at pre-Killer Instinct). We've already had 10 announced as coming to this service.

EDIT: And some of those 55 are probably impossible to rerelease due to licensing issues (Popeye comes to mind), so the real possible total is lower. If they want this to make sense, they have to shovel out basically every arcade system they have that doesn't get them into licensing trouble.

I subscribe to the headcanon that Urban Champion is the "mandatory Stan Lee Easter egg" of the Nintendo Gaming Universe. Otherwise, I'm going to be sad that StarTropics and Mysterious Murasame Castle are lost to time forever.

Honestly, this arcade system thing is a weird idea. You either have pre-Famicom things that are mostly curiosities, or upgraded versions of Famicom/NES games (Punch-Out has the best case for existing out of the lot). Nintendo's arcade showings are totally shown up by NeoGeo's, which are also available on the Switch.

If Nintendo DID decide to put more recent arcade games on the Switch, you have possibly the Cruisin games, if Nintendo still has the rights to them, a few cut-down versions of Mario Kart, a Donkey Kong Jungle Beat spinoff, and a Luigi's Mansion rail shooter.

Considering Hamster is doing this it probably has very little risk to Nintendo. In fact they may not have haf to spend anything and just allow Hamster to port their arcade games and share the revenue.
