Its simply hilarious to me they're actually going ahead with charging $60 for leveling content that every single player is tired of and what used to be contained in a regular content patch.
vanilla:
-1.2: 1 month after release, adds maraudon and gurubashi arena
-1.3: 3 months later, adds dire maul and 2 world bosses
-1.4: 1 month later, adds two epic questlines and the honor system
-1.5: 2 months later, adds AV and WSG
-1.6: 1 month later, adds BWL, darkmoon faire, battlemasters and two class talent revamps
-1.7: 2 months later, adds ZG, AB, fishing event and another class revamp
-1.8: 1 month later, adds 4 world bosses, effectively adds silithus, another class revamp
-1.9: 3 months later, adds AQ20 and AQ40, linked auction houses and another class revamp
-1.10: 2 months later, adds weather effects and another class revamp
-1.11: 3 months later, adds naxx and two more class revamps
-1.12: 2 months later, adds cross-realm BGs and another class revamp
every single patch added content, a new system feature or large gameplay changes and each was no more than 3 months after the last
meanwhile, with the expansion that boosted their sub count to near its previous record and with more money and employees to work on wow than ever before:
-6.1: 3 months after WoD launch, changes garrison stuff and flight paths
-6.2: 4 months later, adds a raid and a zone that was supposed to be in at launch
-that's it suckers see you next $50 expansion
WoD sucked. God, I never thought I missed MoP until WoD sucked out all the fun and went through class design with a chainsaw.
fuck garrisons.
You've been missing a huge amount of great raid content.
I'm laughing at how now people are realizing that MoP was actually really good, especially after WoD kinda screwed the pooch.
I'm hoping that this next expansion doesn't have an orc driving the story this time.

I barely played WoD, I just saw yesterday that Archimonde was the last boss so is the story going forward with burning legion stuff like most people predicted?
Well MoP and its daily quest treadmill did coincide with the huge playerbase decline.I'm laughing at how now people are realizing that MoP was actually really good, especially after WoD kinda screwed the pooch.

As far as ambience and actual sense of place go, nothing beats Karazhan or Ulduar.
They changed WoD's story to add in more Burning legion elements after people were complaining it was looking to be too orc centric, enemy wise. Grom was going to be the final boss but they changed it to him being an ally against the burning legion because reasons. No indications if it means more Legion stuff in normal timeline Azeroth
I'm not really sure I buy that they "changed" anything, to be fair. Gul'Dan was always set up to be a bigger potential thread than Grom, and just knowing the glacial pace of Blizzard development, I find it hard to believe Hellfire Citadel wasn't always planned as the big, legion-themed final raid.
They did mention Grom as the final dude long ago. But the writing was on the wall after we got fktons of expos on Gul'dan and very little on Grom, with the latter finally going out lamely at end of 6.1I'm not really sure I buy that they "changed" anything, to be fair. Gnomes were in before WC3, I think. Only made-up race not part of the established lore are "draenei".
Were they really?
And Draenei are uncorrupted Eredar like Kil'Jaedan and Archimonde, retconned from being Broken.
Gnomes existed in Warcraft 2. The alliance submarine and copter units were Gnomish.

Looking at that old b.net site for Warcraft 2 makes me really really want them to actually make and release the updated version for modern pcs/resolutions![]()
There were rumors of a WarCraft III remake a few years back. Nothing ever happened, obviously but I do wonder if it was at one point planned as a solution to WarCraft IV.
Man, Ulduar...
WotLK was so fucking awesome. Those were the days.
They need to do something and fast. They over-promised and under-delivered to such a large degree with WoD that the allure of them announcing a new expansion has done little to generate any hype for me.
Simply put, right now WoW is at it's lowest point in terms of fun and social interaction. It is a soulless, tedious game and I cannot believe how far Blizzard has fallen since MoP (crator like), nevermind The Burning Crusade or Wrath of the Lich King. It's unbelievable.
I've been playing WoW since the beginning and like most I take breaks now and again to recharge, play something else, or wait for another content patch. This is a different game, more than ever before. So who knows?
After the disaster that Warlords of Draenor turned out to be, I'm honestly surprised they're still throwing massive amounts of resources at WoW instead of moving everyone to new projects and letting the cash cow slowly spin down while maximizing their profits.
I mean, when you release an expansion with only 6 instances and 2 raids and expect it to last 12+ months, it really feels like you've already thrown in the towel.
Plus Garrisons was another feature that actually heavily detracts from the game rather than add to it. They don't know how to design themselves out of a paper bag with the game anymore.
Will this monster ever die?
Will this monster ever die?
IMO, while Blizzard continues with the "vertical" style of expansion for WoW, where the major focus is on additional content of existing mechanics (new raids, dungeons, zones, dailies), and the only new mechanics are side and minor stuff, like pet battles or garrisons (which where heavily criticized for further isolating players), the game will continue to become stale.
It is about time Blizzard adopted a more horizontal approach of adding content, where they try to add new mechanics and things to further expand the game.
I hope it's something interesting. For as beautiful as the setting of Pandaria was, I feel like it and WoD have been really boring story-wise compared to BC/WoTLK or even Cata. There are so many loose ends in the lore they could explore, I hope they actually do so this time.
WoW 2 is never coming lol![]()
This will probably be the final expansion based on lore that's been hinted at since Warcraft 3 or before (they're basically out of existing villains post Azshara/Sargeras), but they intend to make expansions indefinitely. Will this be the final expansion?
