Halo 5 Opening Cinematic

Spartans are avengers now? No Chief? eh.

still day 1 but man

oh great top of page. I promise I'm not hating, I just don't like what I see right now.

I don't think it's been posted but my guess is this is the cut into gameplay sequence immediately following that cutscene.

I think that's from a later part in the mission or different mission entirely, the time of day isn't the same as the intro.

I think people are saying, if that's the case how come it was not represented that way in past games?

Lack of assets and development time. Perhaps a smaller vision. Xbox 360 limitations, etc.

The books have always given us the true representation of everything Spartans are capable of. Halo 5 looks to be bridging that gap.

We book folk have been wanting to see the book lore bleed into the games for years. It started to a bit in Halo 4, and now it looks to be heavily increased on all fronts.

343i are doing a great job of hyping Team Osiris.

But us Blue Team supporters know how any potential (fair) fight between Mark IIs and this group would end.

Idk..remember when we used to fear fighting elites? Seems like 343 have reduced the covenant into just another generic alien race.

I like how in last halo games fighting certain elites would recquire concentration and some strategy. Hope they retain some of that in this one.

Also am I only the one who miss the flood? The Prometheans just seemed soo...boring compared to them.

I thought it was, you basically kill thousands of people every game by yourself, Spartans crashland fron space with no injuries and in halowars Spartans demolish groups of elites easily.

In armor: even fight, due to Spartan IV armor being superior but Spartan II augmentations being superior.

Out of armor: Spartan IIs would easily destroy Spartan IVs.

If people have read the books then they'd know this is how Spartans are supposed to be. Most book readers (including myself) have consistently begged for Spartans to be portrayed in the games as they are in the books. 343 is finally doing that and it's a damn good sight.

Like when you destroy a halo ring solo in Combat Evolved?
Or jump aboard an enemy scarab and take it out in Halo 2?
Or hijack two scarabs amidst a huge battle, at the same time, in Halo 3?

The ability of Spartans wasn't underestimated in the Halo games.
You always fought against overwhelming odds against huge numbers.

And let's not forget previous Halo trailers...
In 'Believe' it's implied that Master Chief is about to turn the tables on the brute invasion that's destroying the UNSC, even as it looks like he's captured and defeated.
'Starry Night' ends with Chief jumping into a battle against multiple wraiths and elites, solo... With an assault rifle.

It will props still be the case in legendary.
As like all the previous games.
Playing on Normal/Heroic the Elites were pretty easy to kill, they never really posed a threat.

Also am I only the one who miss the flood? The Prometheans just seemed soo...boring compared to them.
I miss the Flood, The Prometheans while nice aren't a good (game enemy) successor compared to them.
Though I would love to see a Promethean vs Flood battle.

So uhhh I never played spartan ops since it was kind of awful but decided today to watch the cinematics... isn't it kind of an essential watch to understanding this cinematic?

I fear these details will be lost on a good majority.

To the people wondering why Spartans have never been depicted this way in previous games, remember that this is also the first Halo with squad commands and team members. It's kind of the first opportunity where they've been able to feature more dynamic action like in the cutscene.

I really, really hope Brutes are in the game:

The covenant just seem to be lacking variety, and they're always a blast to fight against.

Have you ever seen a sunset in mountains?

I've seen one plenty of times.

See how there's a wider range of colors still happening, particularly blues? That's basically what I would like to see more of.

Yeah and then in game reality would happen.

I would not care to see the flood returning (if the chance exists lore wise), as long as they dont take the second half of the game entire for themselves!

I think that, especially in Halo 1 and 2, when the Flood show up the battle encounters become less interesting and sometimes quite annoying. That said I prefer the encounters against the Prometheans rathen than the Flood.

Now, if there was lots of encounters mixing the Flood and other enemies (such as Elites) the encounters would have been more interesting. Halo 3 at least added variety in them, so I enjoyed their encounters way more compared to the first two games.

I still don't understand why they have the black spots in the helmet - it just takes up the screen. Not a fan of that.

Yeah, having gameplay taking up the whole screen immerses me a lot more. The black spots are really claustrophobic.

Looks good but I couldnt really tell what the battle was about...

Good Elites vs Convenant?

Covenant vs Forerunner?

That looks like a favela.

The more I look at the images of destruction the clearer it becomes that those holes are from something emerging from the ground, not something blowing it all to smitherines. You can see remnants of forerunner architecture around the peripheral of the holes.

No.

"Immersion". Maybe it also helps to render less on the screen and increasing the performance a little? Don't know.

Spartans don't get afraid so idk where you got that. You show a zealot respect in a fight though especially one in the fleet of particular Justice. They claim this game will be very difficult even on heroic difficulty.

So the book lore is more important than the games?

Is there a book fan vs game fan thing going on the last 10 years?

They work together lore wise but for spartan feats the books rule. Chief didn't just jog his way through waves of enemies. He used his supreme athleticism speed, luck, reaction time, and his leader ship skill/ tactical assessment and execution skills.

The best is to know that we will be able to play coop using matchmaking!! Sooo good!!
And at dedicated servers... Hnnnnnnngg...

What if the Blue Team intro is you playing an air insertion.

Weren't most of the Brutes wiped out in the Covenant-Human?

I don't think so, though I think they splintered away from the Elites mostly.

Most Skirmishers were apparently wiped out but I'd like to see them also. More enemy variety is always a good thing IMO.
