PlayStation 6 Release Locked for 2027, “Not Just on the Table, It’s the Plan,” Says Kepler2 Following Sony and AMD’s Project Amethyst Showcase

The PS5 Pro was a litmus test for fleecing.
Dude, fleecing has been normalised everywhere.
Post-Covid our corporate overlords decided "fuck it, let's just take the piss out of these morons, line must go up"
Now we have the most dishonest robbery everywhere, look at shrink-fucking inflation, it's everywhere. Products you have been buying for years suddenly are 10-20% or more smaller at the same inflated price.
It won't get better.

I'm out of consoles now. Never bought a Series X after owning multiple versions of all previous Xboxs right back to the OG. Sold my PS5 a month before pro came out and in that month just gamed exclusively on my pc and never saw the need to buy a pro.

I have a 7800x3d and 4070ti and it runs new games pretty great. But the real benefit for me to pc is being able to play decades of older titles. Running older Modded games like Arkham knight at 4k with Auto HDR and 120fps is pretty mind-blowing. Even Arkham Asylum nodded 4k with HDR looks better than most modern console games lol.

Plus 95% of new games come to pc now. I'm just gonna jump on a 5080 super or wait till 6 series.

Plus my pc is cooler than ps6 😝

Go back to a PS4 and tell me "you didn't miss much" even for the crossgen games.
Yeah, unless you have a gaming PC, the conversation of skipping PS5 is strange.

Cross Gen games with PS5 patches were much better on the current gen. Any 3rd party game with PS5 version and of course current gen exclusive aren't something you want to play on PS4 (or say Xbox One).

Or look at the excuses both during Covid and now where prices were jacked up, employees fired, but somehow Corpo profits were higher than ever.

Sure, Jan, it was totally only Supply Chains and Tariffs that drove up the prices. 😡🤬

No thanks.
I'm getting my final "next-gen" upgrade next year and I don't intend (or need) to buy anything else after that.

It's incredibly difficult to believe Sony would launch a new system before bringing on their big guns for what we already have that still hasn't seen whatever devs can squeeze out of it. More so when it's been a slog to get people to upgrade from PS4 to PS5 AND all the price increases for software and services. Unless of course this is just for a handheld.

Bring it on.

So many people saying "trash generation" when all I got was years of great games to play. Couldn't give a fuck about exclusives.

Fair enough, but I think 2027 is too soon to launch a new generation. That being said I still think I'll be day one with PS6. PS5 Pro has been a great console for me personally and I'm looking forward to seeing how they improve on that. I just hope Sony have a decent pipeline for games.

Definitely didn't miss anything.

Unfortunately not too far off the mark.

Sony haven't been able to release the same number of exclusives this generation. Some Sony studios have released one game. Others haven't even released a PS5 game yet!

This of course is more of industry problem than just a Sony issue. Games are taking longer to develop and costs are skyrocketing.

For the PS6, I want to see tech that helps speed up development time. I don't need 8K, 180fps path tracing. I just want a varied selection of exclusives that warrant a PS6 purchase.

One man's "cool" is another's "weeabo bling cringe"

If this is the target then they have royally fucked over the Pro adopters.

I bought my PS5 Pro in 2024. I sold my PS5 for $300 to get it. I will have played games on it for 3 years before the PS6 goes on sale. I'll sell my PS5 Pro for probably another $300 to get the PS6.

So, how did I get fucked over?

2027 wiill be ten years after I sold my PS4

I want to say I'd buy a PS6 to catch up on the games I missed but I didn't miss anything

Gonna build a sick Zen 6 RTX 6000 rig and pretend playstation and xbox don't exist anymore

and 99.9% chance of having e a GTAVI Next Gen version for launch (which will probably be what the PC version will be based on)

It will take a lot to get me on board. But if they release a balanced, small, cheap console then I'll consider it.

If they're still going to chase POWER and end up with a $599+ console I don't really care. I'll just stick with PC.

Make something small, cheap, with modern tech and good ai features to compensate and I'll be there. Games scale well now, FSR5 will probably exist by then, we don't need 70 CU's and a high price tag in the age of ai upscaling and diminishing returns.
If they release a console with less cus and bandwidth than the pro, they might as well not bother at all. The whole point of a new gen is to create a base for which the next 7-8 years will adhere to.

I for one am not interested in a cheap console. Especially since consoles don't use bespoke hardware anymore. The gap between console and pc is far too large this gen and larger than its been in a long while. We're seeing sub 1080p games with shitty upscalers due to the proliferation of UE5. As a result, image quality is currently reminiscent of the PS360 days with resolutions as low as 864p. Like wtf.

For the first time in a long time, i invested more into my desktop pc and even bought a gaming laptop to connect to my tv. The ps4 pro was sufficient but the ps5 pro was absolutely not. If they bring the same garbage base resolutions next gen hoping to bank on fsr to save them, I'm out. Not paying money for that crap.

The cost of being in Sony's ecosystem is already expensive enough with the ps+ price hikes to pay for a subpar experience.

This, exactly.

I think that it will be better to unload it months before the PS6 releases but even then, we'll have to take a big loss since there's no sane person that will actually buy it for more than 400 Eurodollars.

I should have stuck with my phat PS5 dammit, The Pro so far has been a farce...
Just keep it and use it as a secondary console, cross gen will be for a while. At least that's what i'm planning on doing.

I wonder if Sony will manage to have a shittier console generation than ps5. I hope so, someone has to keep up with Microsoft.

I need my gamer schadenfreude.

My general rule of thumb for when to expect things to release is to add +1 year to a consoles rumored release year and a +2 years for when a game is rumored to release.

So. 2028 it is.

I've no idea what these people are going on about saying Pro owners have been scammed etc. It does exactly as advertised when I bought it and will still do the same three years after launch, when the next gen comes around (albeit with new versions of PSSR by then). I will likely upgrade day one to PS6 and will have had three years of use from my Pro, running the best versions of PS5 games over that period.

Sounds right given Sony and AMD launched RDNA2 around the same time.

Might also be the first PS console I don't buy day 1. Have to see how it stacks up compared to my 9070xt PC.

PS5 Pro is selling for around $550 to $600 on ebay right now. I'm thinking about selling mine when I'm done with Ghost of Yotei and just gaming on PC and Switch 2 the next two years until PS6 comes out.

No plans to play GTA 6 next year?

Bro .. that shit ain't happening.
You think the PS6 will be more expensive than 600€? You know they can push for the PS5 Pro price because it's mostly for enthusiasts...but they would NEVER risk alienating their next gen by doing prices people wouldn't pay. They will always want people to migrate their hardware and they won't risk a price that people would go "not in a million years". Their bread and butter is their PS store...if they start having people migrating from PS platforms to other platforms that's going to decrease their numbers and they would never go for it. They are even doing a portable device next gen. They are trying to have more people on their ecosystem, not less.

We already have rumors about the PS6 being less overengineered than the PS5 to not be so expensive. We also have rumors they won't ship PS6 with a disc drive as well. Take these 2 things in consideration and i think 600€ at most for the PS6 is a given. I can imagine the PS6 to be more in line with the PS4 in terms of built in quality. So less "premium", easier to mass produce, etc...

I think the PS6 will at least be the same price as the Pro, with higher storage SKU's being more expensive + the disc drive add-on price.

It does seem early, but I think it's down to two factors why it feels like that:

1. The pandemic just made everything feel like we've skipped a couple of years of life.
2. The lack of exclusive games.

The last year for he Pro has seemed a bit of a waste, but hopefully we get some better performance with PISSER 2.0
