Resident Evil Requiem |OT| Through the Darkness

I've always found the suplexes to be stupid and cartoonish. Who is hugging a zombie? And why would a 50 year old put himself in a vulnerable position like that? I just beat RE 4 before playing this and I found Leon's gameplay better in RE9. The gun parries, picking up and throwing or swinging weapons dropped by zombies, context sensitive finishers, using a chainsaw, and overall better animations.
That's nice but I didn't ask.

All that's left for me is finishing insanity and the obscure puzzle. As it stands the game falls in the B tier for me. Mostly because while I very much enjoyed my first playthrough, replays are turning out quite meh and the complete lack of any extra mode just flat out sucks. If they release DLC that adds replayability then I might change my stance.

I've finally started playing it today. I was busy doing replays of 7 and 8 on Switch 2 first, but I already got through those.

Been also playing Requiem on Switch 2, and I am really not disappointed at all. This is a perfectly fine way to play. I don't feel I'm missing anything by not playing it on one of my more powerful consoles. Still runs great for me.

Finished it. Amazing game and up there with the best RE games. Bossfights were a letdown tho and i need a merc mode like yesterday. Cant believe how good the game looked on PC with path tracing. I hope all RE games moving forward will have PT support and PC versions like this. Bravo Capcom. I think im gonna buy RE4R gold edition on PC now. I only played it on PS5 and never played the DLC

I don't necessarily agree with Bosses being a letdown but they were just too easy. More difficulty is needed

As for Re4 Remake I really recommend you to install the John wick aiming mod. I can't play Resi4 Remake without it

Playing more, I finally got into more of a rhythm as Grace's section wasn't being interrupted constantly by Leon's. Was able to get into a good flow. Leon's dad joke one liners are just the greatest. "I think I want a second opinion" and "I'm not on the menu." :messenger_tears_of_joy:

c`mon dude

Grace
- lots of resources
- lots of healing items
- hit kill "weapons" for CH, Lickers and Pale Heads.
- Infinite save ink ( even on the standard classic difficulty i crafted almost 30)
- weak ass puzzles
- no boss fights ( turning lights on to kill the girl was ok, again, no sense of danger )

Leon
- more resources than Grace has.
- healing items ll heal full hp
- 3 bars of shield ( kevlar )
- OP parry that ll work even on bosses and rocket launchers
- Stealth Kill ( even the stronger enemies )
- infinite saves
- weaker puzzles than Grace

Hiding in the dark for the first 20 minutes on a 10 hours game doesn't make it in a "survival horror", there is no sense of danger, no limited healing items, no limited resources that you need to use with care, no danger enemies that ll pose a real threat to progression.... well, at the end of the day everyone likes different things, if you think this is a great survival horror... amazing, for me its a good game and o awful survival horror game.

Is there a way to see your in-game timer like in other recent RE games? I looked in the pause and save screens but didn't find it.
You can if you look in the challenges section; it lists your current game's playtime under the speedrun challenge. I think its called Speed Demon.

Holy crap Insanity is brutal so far. Doing it legit without any bonus weapons or cheats and this shit is rough. Grace's gun isn't where it's supposed to be so I'm running for my life from everything, but the zombies lunge so far in this difficulty that I end up getting grabbed anyway lol
Insanity without modifiers is genuinely the best survival horror experience in the series. You have to strategically plan EVERY route and put way more thought into using your ink ribbons. Every combat encounter is to the wire.

The only annoying thing is that I figured you could stop the zombies in front of the corrosive from waking up if you took out the singer quickly. I instantly blasted her with Requiem so she didn't get a scream off, but they wake up anyway.

Also, if you don't kill the first Chunk as Grace, he despawns. I left him because I wanted to get more points as Leon and have a second mini boss encounter. Super annoyed he was just missing.

I love this game, but it has nothing on RE2/4make. Solid third place though. It cements to me that the dudes who do the remakes need to be making main series games. The RE7/8 guys just can't nail combat/bosses/depth the same. I'm annoyed by the lack of weapon variety/unlocks (also the weapons you unlock can't even be upgraded). Grace really only gets two pistols and requiem? Seriously? Even the challenges are significantly less. I only had 15 left to complete after first playthrough. This RE is seriously lacking in content.

The DLC needs to significantly expand on what's there. I hope it's a whole other Leon campaign with tons of new unlocks. This is the fastest selling RE of all time, so I expect some full out mercs and Seperate Ways style content.

You need to make up your mind. Should games be accessible for adults with children or should it be hardcore and gate people from finishing by brutal difficulty?

RE9 is a mainstream survival horror game, it's not gonna be truly difficult by default. For that you gotta go with alternate difficulties, like Insanity, or a smaller niche game.

You mentioned you were playing Insanity with infinite ammo. Why? You clearly want more struggle in you RE9 experience, how does playing with infinite ammo achieve that?

cause i earned it, also, i m not complaining about the game difficult here, i was just saying that the game isnt a survival horror per say and thats a fact.

also i have a 3yo what been an adult with children has to do with anything ?

like i said before, everyone is free to enjoy what they want, i enjoyed the game, its just not a survival horror game.

Made me laugh out loud when his briefcase popped up before the climax.
This is one of my biggest issues with the game as a whole, and the Leon segments especially. It does a lot of things seemingly just because RE4 did them, without any coherent thought as to whether or not they fit in *this* game. Briefcase with inventory shuffling -- but no reason to ever use it. Merchant with weapon upgrades -- but for only half of the game, and condensed into such a small timeframe that it feels pointless. Chainsaw enemies -- but made so easy they don't add any challenge or tension to the fights. Mortar sequence that rips off the RE4 castle breach -- but without the level design that made the former interesting. Sniper rifle -- but with almost zero reason to ever use it, outside of the church scene with Grace, which has none of the nuance that made similar scenes work in RE4. The list goes on.

this game is awesome... It really does reward a small amount of knowledge

I'm in rc looking for the second battery... that part where you have to turn the wheel to get the bridge/door to move and there's that big blister dude

I tried several times blowing up his blisters... zombies are mutating all around him, and it was very very difficult. I almost made it once by killing him and almost all the like five mutayed zombies lol (i'm sure there's some here that doing that shit Rambo style is easy, but not me)

then hints on the continue screen mentioned that they mutate because I'm blowing up the blisters.., so I just didn't blow up the blisters, shot zombies just to run past and that whole section was stupid easy.

getting better with parry... holding it is easy but timing it is hard for me... I always suck at parry in games

this game is fucking fun

I also love how crimson head were back in this game and they are more threatening…in OG RER they can do more damage but when they jump at you they over shoot and miss you, it's actually easier to dodge them compare normal slow zombies in tight space.

Or the glass level, which was actually new afaik? Such a cool idea completely squandered away. Just aim at the glass below all their feet and shoot. Then forget it ever happened. Literally got through that portion without being forced to move from my spot even once. May be with sparse ammo on insanity, I'd feel differently about some of these set pieces. We shall see...

Question on second playthrough.... Do we get the tracker as Leon as soon as he shows up and there are upgrade crates in the Care Center?
The tracker, as in the thing that let's you get points and use the boxes etc? If so yes, you get a purple variant as soon as you first take control of Leon in the crowded street at the street. There is also an upgrade box right in front of you in the same first street.

I don't care what anyone says, I love DSP. It's not every day you see someone who is unironically an exceptionally bad and stupid player, to the point where it's highly entertaining. His playthroughs of MGS2 and MGS3 are still legendary to this day. I'm glad he hasn't lost his touch, or lack thereof.

ppl have so much rose tinted glasses for Leon that you ll see almost to no complaints about this, all bosses are trash tier, there isnt a single one that put up a fight. T-00 is a joke of fight, while in RE2RE you have a small arena to fight him and he is way more aggressive always closing the gap between him and the player, in this game you ll fight him in a fucking stadium while he ll just stand still for like 6 seconds charging every one of his attacks, so you can deal free damage without ANY feeling of danger and dont forget that you can parry 90% of his attacks.

Also, the bosses are so trash tier that i didnt even knew you get a rocket launcher in the final boss ( i didnt even saw he using one ), missed it completely and i did 2 playthroughs at the moment.

Also 2 (spoiler dont hit play if you didnt finished the game )

and ppl are glazing the game as one of the best survival horrors out there, this is re6 levels of retardation.

Yeah..because that's definitely the survival horror part of the game lol. Idk why people keep complaining that parts of the game aren't operating in a way they were never intended to. Grace's parts are survival horror. Leon's parts are action adventure. You might prefer one versus another. But the game is not coy in the idea that Grace and Leon's sections are supposed to illicit a completely different experience. We should be criticizing the game on whether it succeeds or fails at those moments. For example, your points about the boss fights I agree. Boss fights in action adventure should be exciting and somewhat challenging and I found to be very underwhelming in both respects. The entire marketing of the game was on the basis that you were getting a scary, slow experience with Grace and and a fast-paced action horror with Leon. The fact that people bought the game and are surprised by this dichotomy is bizarre.

Perfect. Thank you for the info!

11 hours and 37 minutes to completion on the Standard (Modern) difficulty. Steam somehow shows 17.2 hours, however.

Anyways, felt like the perfect length for such a game. If it was shorter or longer, it would have been worse for it. There were some pacing or balance of "Grace to Leon" issues in the middle, but aside from that it felt like almost a perfect package. If there would have been another extra Grace section in the middle of Leon's adventures of Raccoon City, it would have been perfect.

Very, very good game. Even for a modern day Resident Evil newbie like myself. There was maybe a tad too much obvious back tracking going on here and there, but I guess that's just Resident Evil for you.

Aight, man. Go play Grace's segments on Insanity again with no unlocks. You'll find your Survival Horror there.

Yeah, you still dont get and there is no pointing arguing anymore, lets just agree to disagree.

I really really hope capcom is aware of the performance issue on switch 2 because this game literally goes to 30 fps everytime the things become "wild". I'm really pissed off of this sudden crazy stutter.

This is great to know. Going to attempt this when the DLC comes out so I have the incentive to give it another shot. They better not lock insanity for the DLC as well. Then I'm absolutely giving up on this. Lol.

I hope there was a lore about her and other zombies. I wish there was some kind of survivor mode in RE9, like hunk and tofu in RE2 OG. I hope there was extra mode unlockable were we get to play them while they were still alive, and not yet zombies.
There's a
document
that you will come across that talks about the singer zombie

Why is the steam hour count so off.

My steam counter says 55 hours. That can't be right. First playthrough was around 17. And just reached raccoon city on my 2nd playthrough.

The in-game playtime counter pauses for cutscenes so that cuts down on the playtime counter a bit

Steam counts as long as the .exe is active, but I'm betting you know that. I also saw where it could be fixed after closing/reopening Steam. Also, apparently Steam multiplies hours played if multiple .exes are open. So if you have 3 games running, it counts hours x 3 and applies it to all open games.

It's same with PS5, when I finished the game itself told me 11 hours while PS5 says 14 hours.

So if I grab all ink ribbons for Grace I cant find anothers ones for Leon?

I thought the Grace parts where the only ones using ink ribbons.

Went to a save spot and I cant save for now, so I assume Leon needs this too? 😂

If you left the game running without actually playing it Steam will count that as time played as well.
