Crimson Desert sells 3 million

Pick your favorite game and imagine someone judging it completely and peppering up other posts saying it's trash(with fire reacts) when they haven't played it. We aren't worked up, we just pity the ignorant. We're the ones having a blast right now.

No it's the people that haven't played it and the San Fran trans activists at IGN that know best. Stupid!

I've said I'm glad people are enjoying it
*I'm glad you enjoy it I swear* also *add laughing emojis to comments from people who like the game and say it's really good, and fire emojis to those who shits on it.*

We see you buddy, and it's fine for real just don't play the "Hey I'm happy you have fun blablabla" card.

This is one of the Marathong army(like 3 people) buddys to, getting his panties in a twist when people dunks on his little game, guess this games succes hurts. They are known for this behaviour, just dont interact with them at all.

I'm not forcing you or anyone to believe me, that's ridiculous. My plan has never changed, I'm curious, but was never super hyped, so I'm gonna wait to buy it.

I'm not playing a card, that's just me, but hey okay, lol.

Don't think i've ever seen a single player mutli-plat game trigger so many people.
No shit and that's what I've been saying. It's been ridiculous in all ways, lol.

Dude, I enjoyed Marathon sure, but I was also one of the few people that understood it being divisive and shit. I liked it because of the art and the style the most, everything else was fine to me. Not sure what you're talking about. Some of y'all need to relax, lol. There is not some war or battle that I'm a part of, that's ridiculous, lol.

It has been ridiculous, but the absurdity of this fight has been because a lot of it entails folks who are playing the game defending it against people who are not. I don't understand why people who are not interested in the game and are not going to play it care so much. I don't get why this game is so divisive either. This game is as about as neutral as a game can be and yet lines have been drawn for some really bizarre reason. Don't get it.

That's genuinely why I was so confused until you mentioned the Era stuff and everything else. I had no idea, I just noticed people acting oddly on edge in all directions here.

It's a huge game, so it was always on my radar, like all games. I'm a sucker for fantasy, but there were things I saw about the game ever since the beginning that told me to wait. I was never hit with the hype. But I was still interested, so, I figured I'd wait to check it out, that's that.

But people are reacting in a very personal way, lol. I'm not a confrontational person, never been, so I'm like wtf?

I am chill dude! :pie_roffles: I just want to say my peace, I'm not some enemy, lmao. I'm glad! I hope to do the same when I eventually check it out.

I still don't get why Era and Veilguard is even being brought up about this. Sounds like some entirely contrived controversy. I was a bit shocked at the response to the lower than expected metacritic as well. The "gotcha" takes were just weird. Then someone made mention that the game had a "Jon Snow" main character and I started hearing "DEI" alarm bells. Hopefully that was just an isolated bit of idiocy though.

I don't blame anyone for waiting on this or any game. I keep saying not every game is for everyone. Applies here as well. $70 ain't chump change.

I don't think you've been out of line myself. You are easy to discuss things with even when we disagree.

Ugh, that's so stupid, lol. Yeah, I didn't read or see anything about that, thankfully. I just assumed it was about AI or something, because that's typically the source of rage these days if it's not another gaas or something.

Exactly! Some people get that hook as soon as they see something, some don't. But some are still interested, while others not so much. $70 for a potential gamble for a lot of folks is a bit too much.

I appreciate that, and ditto! That's the way things should be here. :messenger_peace:

They hit that hype just right huh. It's all timing and a little bit of luck can make even the most mediocre game sell a lot.

Maybe I'll change my mind, but I truly think this game is being underestimated. I haven't been this gripped by a game in a long time.

I played it literally the entire day yesterday and it's been several years since I've done that.

I think it's easy to clown on the game for it's poor story and weird controls, but under the initial layer of muck is a goddamn treasure trove of detail, mechanics, discovery, and fun.

As many others have experienced, I wasn't sure if I hated it the first few hours. Now I cannot stop playing it.

I think with the coming of Chinese and Korean Single Player AAA games, especially with how Wukong, Stellar Blade, and Crimson Desert were received by players, a lot of game reviewers and journalists should probably rethink how they approach playing these games. Because it's clear that these games don't cater to what a lot of Westerners value in games or what they perceive to be "correct" game design. But when you go back 20-30 years ago when gaming was in that highly experimental phase of gameplay design, so many fantastic games were made back then and paved the way to a lot of the popular genres we see today. I'm not saying CD doesn't have legit issues. It clearly does. But I think at this point conversations do need to happen regarding becoming more open minded towards foreign games that take a different approach to game design than what we're used to. Some people may need to go back to the 90s/Early 2000s mindset of stepping outside their comfort zone to try things they're not used to.

I think this is the kind of game people would be better off waiting until Fall/Winter Sales, because at the rate in which Pearl Abyss is churning out big patches, addressing feedback, not to mentioned planned updates, the game will probably be a substantially better experience to play later in the year.

Glad sales are well. Devs are actually working quick to address vocal issues and game is really great. I dont believe someone like ign etc journo got far in this game. Amount of content and systems is pretty insane. You can be 30h in and still unlock some new feature or system

Sorry but I don't know where this is coming from when Gamespot and IGN both rated WuKong and Stellar Blade high.

Maybe not 9 or 9.5 high, but around an 8.

I don't think it has anything to do with an Asian notion or anything.

Let me give you game journalist review score card:

IoXQAr1.png

You mean thats for the morons who can't understand that a 7 is generally still a good game right?

You saw it with this game as well. If the game doesn't score a 9.5 its 'reviewer bias' 'biased against asian games' 'no woke crap so game=bad'

Meanwhile there were plenty of journalists who gave this game (and Stellar Blade, and Wukong) high grades.

I'm talking about the aggregate not IGN and Gamespot specifically.

Think there is little doubt about that. I said early after launch that the game should have been delayed. Could have used a beta or a free demo to get some feedback on some of the designs. PA has been really quick in getting patches out to fix some things but the launch review score is pretty much set in stone. That's one of the big problems with reviews these days.

Prey 4.0 IGN

Don't take this the wrong way, I'm asking sincerely, heart on my sleeve here. Which game awards do you actually go by?

A game can be goty without it winning some dumb arbitrary award imo

Could not give less of a shit about the actual Geoff Keighley advertisement publisher sponsored gaming event

Not disputing The Last Of Us as a 10/10 but GTA V was also that imo

Ok so you're basically saying that GTA VI is guaranteed to be your personal GOTY when you posted that response?

I think they will skip the 4 million announcement and go straight to 5 million. A smashing resounding success in the face of adversity.

I'm gonna push back on that as a Westerner, hell no. The game was already great as is, maybe just needed a few tweaks. Honestly, the only thing it really needed, in my opinion, was a PC-first release with consoles coming later.

I don't think so, because you only get this kind of players feedback after release. It's impossible that in such a massive game you get everything right on launch. Literally impossible.

Anyway, reviews were decided beforehand, since the MC score has very little to do with the game's quality or lack of.

Eh....some of the criticism was very specific and is already being addressed. Can't get everything right but can't get anything right if you don't know it doesn't work.

Either way, I'm not talking about reviews. Think you are right there.

I should've been clearer I meant Western Game Journalists, and what they perceive to be correct game design. I wasn't talking about western gamers in general. And I think a player who gets to play the game at their own pace is likely going to be more open minded toward the game and enjoy it better, compared to a reviewer who has a two week deadline to play CD and write a review on it.

In their defense however, that was definitely an oversight on developers part. They should've had a month to play this game.

Likewise. I really have just been engrossed with the world. Fucking with bugs, hiking the woods fucking with bugs. Eating moths and spiders, petting dogs and trying to find the cat I worked over for two nights. What story? The way I am making my own stories and also participating in some stories told by the NPC's, just not a thing I have really done before. Usually I may have a little fun exploring a side area in a game but that main story is always on my mind in some way. Whether it be the story itself, or getting back to the story once I am done fucking around, it is there. Not with CD. Is this enjoyment sustainable is the only question. It is such a new experience for me I got no data to compare it too!

I think reviewers like those at IGN fall into the trap of writing like they're speaking for everyone, instead of just speaking as one person with an opinion to everyone. Then you layer in how inconsistent the scoring can be, and it just makes the whole thing feel off. At that point, it's hard not to see the similarity to places like Fox News or CNN, where personal opinions get dolled up and delivered like objective truth.
