What CPU do you have?

Voice of reason! It's not really worth it. You already have an extremely fast CU for games and applications.
Just wait for Zen6.

My kind of cpuGreat for apps and 3dmark benchmarks
5800X3D owner here, why? Unless you insist on real high framerates (144Hz+) my CPU usage rarely goes over 50%If you're on a 5800x3d or older this is probably a good upgrade but I can't see it for anyone else unless you've got money to burn. My 7800x3d is doing great.
My kind of cpu![]()
Rocking a ryzen 7 5700x. I upgraded last year for $125 (was on a busted half working 3600) thing flies to me with 32gb ram and a 3060ti. Unless you render 3d, or audio what is one of these going to do for you taht a cheaper cpu wouldn't as far as gaming? For people on 4k (not me) wouldn't that be gpu that is the bottleneck?Heck I'm still perfectly happy with my Ryzen 7 3700X.![]()
There's an element of diminishing returns, but X3D chips are a good percentage ahead of the non X3D models - between 15% to 30% usually. I agree outside of the X3D chips for gaming though.Rocking a ryzen 7 5700x. I upgraded last year for $125 (was on a busted half working 3600) thing flies to me with 32gb ram and a 3060ti. With taxes it's going to cost more then 1500$ CAD
Still thinking of buying one but damn!!!!
It's oficial:
What are you going to do with the old CPU? Just resell?Look like I'm Getting one my wife gave me her Blessing![]()
Maybe build another computer I'm not sure yetWhat are you going to do with the old CPU? Just resell?
so just wait for the "10950X3D2" ?Yes.
so just wait for the "10950X3D2" ?
i have that too.Considering he has a 9950X3D, yes.
i have that too.
was just looking it up. looks like they are going up to 12 cores per chiplet. do you think AMD will release X3D (single 3d cache chiplet) and then an X3D2 or is it possible they'll just start putting the 3d cache on any double chiplet cpus?
guess i'll just wait then for the equivalent zen 6 replacement to the 9950X3D/2thanks!!
I'm sure it's going to take a while before it happenProbably depends on how well the 9950X3D2 sells.
Look at how they've got you guys double dipping... I think they're going to:i have that too.

the rockstar strategy!Look at how they've got you guys double dipping... I think they're going to:
1. Zen 6 regular chips come out - people upgrade because they're excited about 12 core CCDs.
2. 6-8 months later X3D chips come out - people upgrade because because these are the X3D chips that gamers want
3. 6 month slater the X3D2 Dual Edition chip comes out - people upgrade again because it's the best of the best
...at least if I were running a business to make as much money as possible, this is what I would do.
That's exactly what I was thinking hahathe rockstar strategy!
i get it. if it works and makes money then yeah they're gonna do it.That's exactly what I was thinking haha
I'm sure it's going to take a while before it happen
"With AM4, we built a platform that made it easy for customers to upgrade their PC across multiple generations of processors. And this year, we celebrate its ten-year anniversary, supported by an expansive line of processors powering milions of systems around the world.
That same philisophy continues with socket AM5. Long-term platform support isn't just a marketing message for us, it's a commitment to protecting our customer's investments and giving enthusiasts a platform that can grow with them."
Jasck Huynh, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Computing and Graphics at AMD
You should just buy yourself a new hat.Nice gift to myself in april!!
NopeYou should just buy yourself a new hat.
It's oficial:
Completely pointless upgrade if you already have 9950X3D.
Better off saving that money for AM6
Maybe it's less of a framerate issue than you are not getting the true value and power of your hardware on a mobile CPU.Indeed! For me, I'm targeting 4k 60 fps at whatever settings so even a mid CPU isn't going to bottleneck me. I've actually moved from a 9700x/5080 desktop to a mini PC with a Ryzen 7 8745HS mobile CPU and oculink eGPU for my 5080. Negligible difference for the games I'm playing. I benchmarked with Cyberpunk 2077 and Crimson Desert.
Now if I were an extreme frame rate guy like you....this setup would suck. lol
