It won't be sold directly to consumers, but you will be able to buy an ASUS/MSI/etc Helix machine. After some months/years. I am particually SURE it will be available on other machines.

So we are discussing about a Ryzen AI processor of sorts (im a sucker for SFF PCs :-D). Good lord, MS is even more useless in gaming department than i imagined. I can simply buy a GMTEK or Beelink machine them :-DIt won't be sold directly to consumers, but you will be able to buy an ASUS/MSI/etc Helix machine.
How did they ghost it? Surface has been steadily releasing new models since it launched. I have the latest Surface Pro 11 on ARM and it was just revealed that a new model is coming this spring/summer.It did. And just when it needed some umph, some sheparding, maybe handled by a corp that knows what it's doing with product and marketing of hardware
Microsoft ghosted it. Like fucking Mac mother fucking Dillon in Predator
Because people didn't read what was actually said andWhy are we discussing none GPU custom features like Tempest Audio? The article was talking specifically about the GPU portion as far as graphics functionality.
Helix SoC GPU portion is AT2 chiplet that will also be used in RX 10070XT. OH NO! A full featured RDNA 5 chiplet! Nothing taken out to reduce die space for vonsole customization purposes! Helix is srewed!
This thread is too dumb for lyfe.
Console manufacturers can get away with marketing "customizations" because they know their customers have no idea what they are talking about lol.Ok?
It amounted to nothing in the end, the Cerny sauce neither
Member all the talk early that PC would struggle with streaming ? I member.
Because people didn't read what was actually said andOverHeat took some liberties leaving the GPU part out of the thread title
They aren't fighting it. They are making one. I'm sure Valve is ecstatic. Just more machines for Valve to make all the profit from. They really are gonna try fight the steam machine, huh.
Good luck. lol.
I'd be more worried about Steam Machine if Helix let's you run Steam without restrictions. SM needs to be 50% MSRP or lower of Helix to have any chance if Syeam runs on Jelix...They really are gonna try fight the steam machine, huh.
Good luck. lol.

Xbox Project Helix Has 0 GPU Customization, Leak Claims, Abandoning the Last Thing That Made an Xbox Feel Like One
Xbox Project Helix leak: Microsoft abandons custom GPU for its next-gen system, ending the traditional console era.wccftech.com
One day we'll have a topic about Xbox on GAF without hyperbole.

This really seems like it will be just a PC with a console UI
There definitely will be 3rd party stores since Epic already sounded off. Recently some ppl raised concerns about Steam bc MS didn't come out and spell it out.I'm basing this off Helix appearing so far to be a PC "hybrid" just like Steam Machine.
Steam Machine and by extension Helix are going to live and die by the cost. We know Valve won't be subsidising Steam Machine. I can't see MS subsidising anything to do with Helix either.
It will be interesting to see if Helix allows for third party stores or if it's locked to MS store. Gaben will be laughing all the way to the bank if it's the former.
Or they find a second GPU hidden in the power brick.Doesn't matter. Once Xbox One takes full advantage of DX12 it's going to be more powerful than an RTX5090.
2014 GAF told me so!
There is no "BC chip" in Series X/S but it ran BC titles great. There hasn't been a "BC chip" since launch PS3 ffs...There won't even be a BC chip, it will run Microsoft store versions of your Xbox games, automatically giving you the licence if you have the Digital entitlement on your account already, otherwise sorry, not in the BC program.
Can you clarify this, because most Xbox fans think we're getting some kind of back-compat, so is AMD doing that for MSFT, or is that something Xbox is doing? It won't be sold directly to consumers, but you will be able to buy an ASUS/MSI/etc Helix machine.
Clarify what? Helix will have different versions made by different companies just like the handhelds. The cpu/apu with Xbox back compatibility will not be sold directly to consumers but to other suppliers to put in their variations of machines. Can you clarify this, because most Xbox fans think we're getting some kind of back-compat, so is AMD doing that for MSFT, or is that something Xbox is doing?
Oh no... I smell bigger storage and unnecessary gaming LED bling for $500 more... LOLIt won't be sold directly to consumers, but you will be able to buy an ASUS/MSI/etc Helix machine.
The HW BC IP is now part of the AMD GPU IP going forward, so technically any RDNA5/6/etc GPU has Xbox HW BC, however I'm pretty sure you will only get actual Xbox BC on 1st-party Xbox devices due to licensing issues. Can you clarify this, because most Xbox fans think we're getting some kind of back-compat, so is AMD doing that for MSFT, or is that something Xbox is doing?

People keep calling them hybrids, but I don't understand. Hybrid means it is two things. The Switch is a hybrid - a home console and a handheld.I'm basing this off Helix appearing so far to be a PC "hybrid" just like Steam Machine.

Infinite energy brick?!?Or they find a second GPU hidden in the power brick.
Xbox isn't worth it; PS6 or PC are better buys. Xbox games are on Playstation; this needs to be constantly remembered. It's a Steam Box made by Microsoft.
There's nothing they can do, I mean their games are on PC, what they're selling is just a bad PC with no upgrade options and the Xbox logo. The failure will be huge.Secret sauce or not, if they can't market the console properly (price, exclusives, games), it will just fail.
BC apps like the Nintendo switch has.and BC chip?
Perhaps upgradeability is the secret sauce of Helix boxes? More RAM, more I/O, more cooling etc. There's nothing they can do, I mean their games are on PC, what they're selling is just a bad PC with no upgrade options and the Xbox logo. The failure will be huge.
If the Series S with its cheap Game Pass didn't help them, they won't succeed now with a $1000 console.
So, given MS software quality (im still w8ting for a fix for a botched NET 10 fix that tried to resolve a security problem), just a matter of WEEKS after this chips public availability to bypass this 'obstacle'... good lord, xbox will really nothing more than a glorified alienware :-D

The customisations did lead to closing the gap between PS5 and XSX. The Road To PS5 video confused many here thinking it was underpowered. Smart Shift for example copped a lot of flack initially.
