I follow a handful of gaming news related sites and developers on twitter but other than that I dont really use any of them.

I have an instagram account but that place is a cesspit of onlyfans whore advertisement and shitty products that I will never use.

Facebook, it used be good 10 plus years ago for family and friends and having a laugh and being social in the real sense of the word, it's just tracking ads all over now with hardly any posts from my friends and family apart from birthdays that FB has to remind you of lol,

I don't know about Bluesky, i've never used it, so i cannot choose it, but from what i have read or heard it's an agenda and an activist site and people complaining about everything, i have no interest in that. i still use X now and again, but mostly Youtube now.

Facebook, since it was the one that kick-started invasive and mass data collection, and preys on trusting folks who don't understand how data collection works to then be used to influence (i.e. manipulate) behavior.

Radiolab did an episode on Facebook's data analysts back around 2015, and it freaked me out enough I stopped using it. They talked about how psychological studies use maybe 30 people to make generalizations and the FB analysts laughed because their studies used hundreds of thousands. At that point, they said that correlation vs causation arguments fall apart. Meaning you can predict with high certainty how someone will behave based on your findings at that scale and it doesn't really matter what is cause and what is effect.

For example, they found that fans of Adidas were fans of Kit-Kats and were likely to be anti-semitic. That's a finding academic psychologists would never find because of how random and highly specific it is, but because Facebook had those data points, they could automate looking for those kinds of connections.

Twitter's my answer for distilling human communication down to a pittance and ruining any sort of reliable sourcing for stories, although maybe more of my hate should be directed at reddit where it's abundantly clear that people don't read and TikTok where people are somehow even more obnoxious. If you have to write your spoken words into your videos, then we have a real problem as a species (yeah you can argue maybe people are just watching on their phones in loud spaces, but if that is the case you should probably just be reading).

Can't believe reddit isn't on there. It's the worst one because of rampant botting and downvotes completely hiding dissenting opinions, making controlling a narrative easier than any other platform.

Second this. Reddit is a hive-mind cult. Take literally any topic and you can predict exactly how Redditors will respond, and shout down any dissenting views. Every topic is politicised, no matter how innocuous. It's a terrifying cesspool of vacuous drones in a circle-jerking echo chamber that represents everything wrong with social media, social division and the modern internet. Good for porn though.

Don't like them much at all but LinkedIn is among the worst. It's disingenuous at best especially since AI started to spin up. Everyone tells everyone how great they are but they are really just looking for people to notice themselves and not actually praise someone. I've seen people post such bull on it. Drives me nuts.

Pretty much same here, you get banned for just having a new account, and people pile on you at the drop of a hat on every topic, no matter how inoucuous

That is why we made a Reddit inspired zone in our Social Split game based on this.
